Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae 2.0 update coming in early June

Another XV thread another poster reminds me that I bought Type-0. That has to be my most forgotten purchase in years, and I was dying to play that game on the PSP.

Fake edit: animation cancelling??

If you're going to update the demo you may as well release it for the general public. Nobody gives a fuck about Type-0 anymore who doesn't already own it so no reason to trick people into buying that.

Did they clarify what range of actions refer to?

Hopefully they tune down the speed of the Sabretusk enemies and their annoying A.I which leads them keep pacing around and often away from Noctis.

I think they are talking about the variation of the attack animations? Currently the attack animations don't have much variation so they loop a lot (and makes it look stupid). So I am assuming more variations on those but I am not 100% sure.

Wouldn't jump the gun on this. While it certainly is a game-changer, Tabata&Co. have stated time and time again that they want the game to feel grounded. I feel there's going to be a sweet spot middle ground, and people expecting to be able to spaz character action game style are going to end up a little disappointed.

Nah, I prefer people interested in FF be the ones that give feedback rather than random guy A who never plays this kind of a game, but sees it for free on PSN and decides to give feedback.

I'd hate to be the guy parsing survey feedback if it goes from 20% "give us turn based FF back for FFXV PLEASE!" to 90%

The things they've said suggest a lot of it is stuff they were planning anyway. They're not designing the game based on feedback.
Seems odd to me that they would release it the way they did then, if all of this was planned. Maybe they're not designing the game based on feedback, but it's pretty obvious they are taking it into account. Why else would they have had that survey? That's not a normal SE thing to do.

Will this edition still be gated behind a Type-0 purchase?

I'd ACTUALLY be willing to pay a small premium to play this - like $5-10 - but not full price for a remaster I don't want.

Why even have a survey if you are gonna just toss the results in the trash bin, then? I think there's definitely going to be some feedback inspired changes coming, or are already implemented. I know it won't be like a checklist of "well random internet guy said this is what they want so fuck it we're doing it" but you gotta figure at least a small part will be influenced.

Like maybe giving Cidney clothes

I feel like this game should have broad appeal after a decade. They should want non-ff peeps.

This is exactly the mentality SE should NOT have, although it's probably a little too late to ask for the opposite now. Developers should stick to their guns and do what they do best, some branching out and experimentation is fine, but they should keep true to their roots and essence of what their games are about.

Now to be fair, nobody really had a singular, definite answer of what FF game means, so, whatever.

I don't believe your assertion.

Because notion of being able to cancel and animation is ungrounded, and spazzy. It is specifically a gameplay oriented move. Also I can teleport in this game, this game is already ungrounded.

So we'll see.

I think it has to always be gated behind the type-0 purchase, iirc there is some law that when they advertise something as "only for buying X item" it has to do that, like how they made that limited Fire emblem 3ds in japan, they said it was limited and by law they cant make any more if memory serves. Hell I have 2 xbone codes that i'm probably giving away/selling(if people seem to want to pay for it again)

It's an update, a patch. Still need to get the game.

Did you take the survey? Did you watch the ATR? A lot of what was said by fans was stuff they were already putting in anyway. The structure of the survey itself was also very limited - and it suggests they are using it mainly for marketing purposes.

Sure they'll adjust a few things that fans have mentioned but it's not like they're overhauling entire systems just to satisfy them.

Good thing I put off grinding to kill One Eye without the summon. I almost did it at around level 30 (half hour fight - got him down to 1/4 health before summoning). Going to have a lot of fun with this.

can't wait to roll around

That roll looks straight out of KH, I'm loving it.

I wonder how they will balance the combat roll with the MP-using dodge.

Regardless, It's really cool to see the game develop. Even if it's just a demo.

Such a shame what this has become...

Too bad. I hope in the E3 trailer they show absolutely no gameplay. Seeing how they're shitting all over the game is very sad.

Anyway, Kagari confirmed for best mod.

Whats bad about the game? I mean they are listening to some minor feedback about the game an the gameplay is fun(feels like if dmc and kh had a baby) If you dont like action gameplay I can see why you might not like it though.

What are you talking about?

What are you even talking about?

He's upset because he believes they're changing too much of the game based on user feedback, even though the video they put out about it indicates the opposite

I really don't think the E3 trailer will be showcasing the demo again with the added changes :/ . Also, there's suppose to be an ATR before the Duscae 2.0.

Will animation cancelling be in the demo or just the final release?

Final release is definite, but not sure about demo.

Lmao, never change, threelights. I think you deserves a tag 'fan feedback = dooooooooooom". Anyway, shouldn't you disagree with Kagari instead? She is saying SE is already doing the changes with or without fan input, and you always insists that everything SE is doing right now is based on what the fans suggest.

Focus testing your game to shoehorn pseudo character action mechanics in your game is not a good thing. Going this route is just going to make your game feel like a cheap knock off of dmc, where the devs clearly don't know how to make it, so they're just adding whatever fans tell them to.

It's like they had an idea for an original battle system for a FF game, but since it's FF they can't take too much risks with different ideas, so they have to back down and make it more like other games by focus testing it.

Oh, and I'm all for action games, I'm actually one of those currently debating whether I should get an Xbone solely for Scalebound and Killer Instinct. But seeing SE having no faith in their battle systems (which is the one thing they've been nailing since last gen) is sad.

I think they probably saw Dynasty warriors 6 and realized that if you change your battle system too much fans will reject it, and if SE has one thing they dont want in FF is for people to reject it, with all the years and money spent into this product, they are going to want to please alot of people and want to not piss many people off(although that will happen regardless) SE cant afford to pull another FF13-2/lightning returns and alienate fans of the FF series again.

threelights, you were saying in numerous threads how Tabata said they'll change the combat if fans whine about it.

First of all, I dunno where you got that from, but most importantly they shrugged off most of the fan complaints with regards to gameplay and explained how what they have now is part of their creative vision. The feedback had people wanting a much faster Noctis, but Tabata said that he wants to have him slow in the game to encourage tactical gameplay with the party. The feedback also had people wanting a faster game altogether, but Tabata stressed that he wants to make the game feel connected to the ground and have realistic movement. These are things they've been strict on.

I dunno why you want to stir this pot again when they've stood their ground on the core gameplay. The only things they want to address based on the feedback are the camera controls, button mapping, and difficulty options for final release.

I don't see the problem. They are not changing the core fundamental concept of the gameplay.

A lot of changes/fixes sound like what it should have been in there from the beginning. Especially stuff like fixing shitty camera/lock-on, dodge-roll, more range of action for weapons, etc.

I think I can summarize this in two objective facts:

- 2.0 was already planned, and presented at the end of the ATR (or, more accurately, when the ATR was recorded). Obviously at that point, a lot of the changes or planned changes were already set in stone.

- Tabata said the ATR was the first he was exposed to the results of the survey, and was thus a little nervous/excited/etc.

If you were to take Tabata at face-value (and this does seem to be the basis of your complaints) based on those two points, I don't know how you can conclude that 2.0 was largely based on changing the game to suit survey feedback. The sequence of events doesn't add up.
