M. Bison trailer for Street Fighter V

"This still just looks like a fancier SFIV/SFXT. I know this take freaks people out, but it's the same Dimps SFIV engine with some updated moves and animation."

It's Unreal Engine 4, though.

if they changed the engine they could've made a more drastic change then, it really just looks like an upgraded version of SF4... Guilty Gear got that crazy 2d/3d shenanigan going, they could've gone for something like that, or something completely different

Bison's looking hype, & a bit on the old side (dat gray hair).

Though I'm surprised by the lack of a teaser for the next character, & am even more surprised that they released this trailer so close to E3. Are they gonna make another reveal at E3 (a newcomer, perhaps)?

But guilty gear just looks like guilty gear!

look i'm no expert, I played a lot of SF4 but I only played a little bit SFxT and I didn't enjoy it at all (the gems, the juggling, the "team" aspect). All I know is the pro scene dropped that game faster than they dropped Skullgirls so i'm guessing there was a reason
The most popular game in the tournament scene isn't played necessarily because it's "good". As for Skullgirls; you can't drop something you never picked up.

There's a fair amount of facial animation going on as well in all these videos. Nice to see these details are still being implemented.

Only gripe, because I must have one, so far is his teeth. Too much gum. Almost looks like Dee Jay's mouth.

I have a feeling that SFV's first newcomer will be revealed at E3.

probably why there wasn't a teaser at the end.

yea well you know. looks like they want to keep that cartoony feel to the game and Bison is known for his smile

You place way too much importance to the engine on a game's aesthetics.

I'm not understanding. Chun Li has lots of costumes in SF4 and I see why she won't in SF5 :/ Is the problem really that her default one is her classic outfit?

Well when this game comes out and people do drive by posts saying that they didn't buy it because it looks just like SF4, you'll know part of the reason why

I'm not sure what it was about SFXT, but I never really grew to love it. Something felt a bit off, and I hated Xiaoyu's transition to 2D :/ Again though, if this is more like that game, I'll just adapt.

Exactly, at least with a veteran they're relatively easy to tease. You can't tease a newcomer as well as a veteran (you could, but it wouldn't be easy to set up). I'm gonna guess that whoever the newbie is will be the E3 reveal.

I know that they fixed SFxT in Ver. 2013 (it went from shit to actually decent), but the changes came too late & the negative stigma had already set in.

3 pages into a Bison thread and only a half dozen mentions of 'Bipson'. That's positive progress.

This still just looks like a fancier SFIV/SFXT. I know this take freaks people out, but it's the same Dimps SFIV engine with some updated moves and animation.

You're still saying this bullshit? Every time there's a new SFV video you come in the thread saying the same shit, regardless of being proven wrong every time.

It's on UE4. It's been confirmed. Get over it.

Christ...that slide is nasty. This game looks so damn good. It's really starting to show the differential between itself from SFIV. This Bison looks pretty unique.

I sure would like to see another stage in this game already...

Bison lookin' sick, though. He'll probably be my main unless Ibuki, Seth, or Rolento make it in.

I really don't get the design complaints. Sure Bison looks similar compared to Ermak or Reptile's changes, but that's because the developers wanted to make them more than palette swaps. Bison doesn't really have that problem haha. He looks about as different from SF4 Bison as MK9 and MKX Sub-Zero do.

Maybe not if it's a fad (maybe MKX will be such a case) then I agree with you that popularity != good. But when a fighting game is played competitively for 7 years and the majors/EVO are still so good and hype, with a diverse character pool each time, I think this warrant that the game is pretty good.

Ok, so I'm away from GAF for one hour to look at pregnancy for upcoming fathers books on Amazon (no, really) and Bison drops on us out of nowhere like a newborn demon out for blood.

He looks more evil than ever before and I like how they aged him (meaning the game takes place after IV and before III?). So far all 4 announced characters look great in my opinion, i.e. having a good balance between familiar and new stuff in terms of moves and looks.

No tease at the end. :(

That is indeed a big bummer if you ask me, especially if they plan on showing more characters at E3. I love being teased with a glimpse of even more new stuff after just being given something new to look at! And like some others here, I wouldn't mind seeing C. Viper or Juri be announced next (or Alex, Karin, a redesigned Sakura, or a new character).

One thing that does worry me based on these trailers so far, is that they've only shown one stage for all of them. Now that might just be because the others are not ready yet while they prioritize the combat and roster, but to me, looking at 3rd Strike and IV overall, it seems to indicate we can kiss character unique stages goodbye yet again (which, disagree with me as you will, has been my biggest complaint with recent iterations).

The reliable rumor at the moment is saying 16 with four of those being new characters. According to the rumor, there will also be Killer Instinct style updates post release.
This. According to the source (who hasn't been wrong so far), they've forsaken Super versions (in the sense that you get a massive disc upgrade) in favor of smaller DLC upgrades overtime. Basically like the KI analogy Kouichi gave.

Godlike

I think many people are sick of the ink thing and it's still very present

also I think many people never liked SF4's artstyle so that too

Looking real good hopefully the Sony money can give them enough support to make at least 17 characters by launch and some modes. But this is looking like its going to be bare bones, so far 4 characters and one stage. As long as the gameplay and Netcode is there and they can keep releasing updates for the game im happy.

"It's so hilarious how lazy Japan has become with fighting games while western made sequels like Killer Instinct and Mortal Kombat actually go out and make brand new character designs for their sequels."

That's because Killer Instinct and (some) Mortal Kombat designs are awful.
This post is awful.

KI designs are fantastic imo

I like SF4. I think it's amazing, but judging how good a game is based on whether or not it's played in tournaments is the wrong attitude.

So while I cede that SF4 is a solid game, the converse that other games not as popular, not as played in the competitive circuits, are not good is false.
