I laughed when the helmet came thru the worm joke and Wells did a mini-spazz lol.

I know this is raining on the parade, but if Thawne never existed, then there's be no STAR Labs and no Flash, right? Or is this one of those "Fuck it! Speed Force!" things?

Actually there would still be STAR labs and Flash because Thawne became Wells in the show. Wells was the one who created the accelerator and STAR labs like I remember he was planning it too when he was out with his wife on that beach.

If I'm understanding wells would have been alive and created it eventually.... Right?

I guess Eddie could only change the future, and not the past. Eobard is erased from the present and future, but everything that happened in the past still happened as we know it. Or something. I need like a diagram.

it's mentioned multiple times that STAR Labs would still exist, all Thawne did was speed up that process

Holy shit. Now thats how you do a finale. Hope the Arrow writers are paying attention.

Fantastic amount of emotion, and some great twists (
Barry letting his mom die, Eddie dying
) and one hell of an ending. Also, surprisingly great CG.

A shame to see Wells go though. He was a great, great villain. They never explored his motivations though, which is a big negative.

EDIT: Yeah, time travel is hard to do right, and thinking on it, I'm not sure that they did.
Eddie killing himself should have had the same effect as Barry saving his mom, no?

A mysterious death, upstairs is child no more than 2. Both of his parents killed under unknowable circumstances. The Child is put in the foster System. eventually he is adopted, not knowing the truth of who he was. who he was doesn't matter, and he is named...

Henry J. Garrick.

Captured some high quality shots of the speedforce timeline stuff.

In regards to Wells
it was confirmed Cavanagh will be a series regular next season.

Absolutely batshit insane finale. Incredible acting and effects. They went balls-out for this finale and it looked film-quality.

The stuff they're able to pull off with what has to be a pretty low budget is amazing. Waiting till october to see more is going to be torture. At least I'll have Hannibal to get me through the summer months.

Wait wait... is this
Caitlin
?

Yes
as future villain killer frost

Yup, & the actress confirmed that this will be happening on the show. That costume wasn't made for shits & giggles, & the showrunners are really good on delivering on teases that they make. Prepare for the face-heel turn of the century.

But the experiment wouldn't have happened the way it did.

Basically what I'm saying is that as Thawne never existed, neither would any effect he'd had on the world.

Which, I guess, should mean Barry's mom is now alive?

Awesome! Really like him.

I wonder if we're ever going to find out why Thawne hated Barry so much.

We'd better. Creating an awesome villain, hinting at a legit motivation behind his actions and then not actually having anything in the mystery box would be weak as hell, and ruin everything they built up. It also isn't clear why he so desperately needed to go home, though the helmet might be a hint at that.

We all know Barry lets his mom die because if he saves her it would cause the Flashpoint Paradox...

Right?

Yeah I assume that's why future barry told him not to. He knew bad things would happen if she was saved which means future barry may have lived through some kind of flashpoint scenario.

Man, so many fantastic moments to that episode.

Wells: "No I'm not sorry for killing you I'm sure I had a good reason" Cavanagh has fucking killed it all season
Barry's dad looking at him run up the building.

But the main moment for me was Barry turning to the Professor before running into the singularity and saying "I have to try" - Grant Gustin is so goddamn perfect in this role.

Also - re: the Season 2 big spoiler talk from earlier today about
multiple universes
:

Introducing Cisco's ability to see other timelines is perfect for establishing a hook that binds everything together, even if vaguely at first.

Yeah, I can't imagine them introducing that kind of point and not running wild with it.

Vibe likely coming into his own for the second season just excites me to no end.

I find cliffhangers like this really frustrating in 2015, it feels so old fashioned. Especially if Barry succeeds and it's back to the status quo by the end of s02e01.
