Guys, I think the Wii U version will be revealed at the $3,000,000 goal.
Check this out:
Is that an 8-bit Wii U logo?

I've been mostly offline for...like, five days. Is a Wii U version confirmed-ish?

The image you linked doesn't really do it justice, but that's unmistakably a downres'd Wii U logo. I'm at work, otherwise I'd do the Photoshop overlay thing. Someone else is gonna have to do that, I think.

Why in the world would you want it at $5 million instead of $3 million like it is currently. I said this on the last page, but I don't think anyone saw it.
It's been talked about for like 3 pages dude.. and I wonder if the publisher who has not been named agreed to fund a Wii u version if the demand was there? I assume a Wii u version would come later, don't want this game to come out 3 years from now.Why in the world would you want it at $5 million instead of $3 million like it is currently. Yikes, a Wii U version. Whilst working on UE4.
Yikes.
8-bit mode on Wii U makes a lot more sense that a downport from the main game. While they're at it, port it to to all old gen consoles. I'm getting Mighty Gunvolt flashbacks, it wouldn't surprise me if it ends up having DLC for it too lol.
You mean the Bloodrayne composer guy

So fucking good. Especially link #3.
I'm just going to throw this out there
Maybe they have a decent idea of how much money and other resources it would take to port a Wii U version and put it as a stretch goal with those things in mind

No one claimed they don't have a good idea of how much money they need. People are taking issue with the notion that a port of a game to a last gen could potentially deviate from the focus or limit the scope of the "true" version of the game.

This would probably be more a token of good will if anything. I'd rather see those extra funds go to something more useful.
ThisDid anyone consider that IGA's corporate backers cut a deal with IGA over Wii U funding?
"Ok if that many Nintendo fans pass this insanely large goal ($3mil over $500k) we'll toss in some more to get a Wii U port."
IGA putting a stretch goal for another console at such a large amount, locked behind achievements, tells me that they already figured out how to port it without compromising the initial scope of the base game.

Except that it's a 2017 game (or more). Doubt people will even buy a Wii U version at that point. The game would almost be exclusively played by backers on Wii U.Way to be selfish there.
Confirming a real port would allow people from other platforms a chance to give Iga even more money.

But sure, keep misrepresenting people's arguments.

If they're going to strip down assets for a UE3/wii-u version, why wouldn't they just announce a ps3/360 version too where there's actually a large user base?
I think people are possibly reading a bit too much in to this right now and might wind up disappointed. If you want to back a wii-u version, wait until it's officially a stretch goal.
Same is true for the Wii UI don't think anyone expects the PS3/360 ecosystem to be very healthy in 2 years time.
Same is true for the Wii U
Yeah, call me crazy, but I was under the impression that developers and publishers typically set out development goals and budget allocation in the initial stages of a project.
Igarashi promises that at $2.75mil, this will be his biggest game yet, and then there's the publisher funding and the further $2-3mil that this game will raise through crowdfunding by the deadline. There's a lot of money on the table here, and both Igarashi and his publisher are confident that a Wii U port will secure more funding than it will cost, or they wouldn't have it as a stretch goal.
What engine did Muramasa use? That got ported to the Wii without many compromises.I'm still hoping the Wii U version is something different rather then just a scaled back down port. I'd be on board for both games then.
All the people that want an identical Wii U version would be content with a scaled down game? One of the most obvious ways help the porting process would be going from 60 fps to 30 fps for instance (also par for the course if they get it running on the U3 engine).
Just wondering, would it even be considered a port if it was built from the ground up to support the Wii U?
I think once again you're insisting that the existence of a WiiU version will detract from other versions. Considering a sizable mount of the extra money is already being used for the other features, I do not see again how having a staff that is developing a WiiU version concurrently would somehow make the other versions "downgraded" or something. For all intents they could have a shared assets/resources pool that one team simply ports for UE4 use and another team ports to UE3.5.
They are doing the same thing with Mighty No. 9 already.
The basement is a lie.

I'm still mad that the castle goals didn't start at the ground floor and extend upwards building new floors, instead of just adding new base level floors for every stretch goal. That is not how you build a castle. >:C
I will reduce my pledge to the minimum if a Wii U version is reached. Not because I hate the Wii U (that's ridiculous, it's the only "next-gen" console I own), or because I'm concerned about the financial return of such a move (why would I care?) but because promising a port to any platform not officially supported by the engine they are going to use makes me question their focus on providing the best possible game -- rather than getting funding out of the most possible people and worrying about "details" like technical viability later.
The reason I was confident in the technical quality of this project -- despite considering the developers far from technical Wizards -- was that they were using a great engine (UE4) on platforms which are officially supported by it and offer enough headroom to forgive some mistakes. With Wii U (or any other port to something lower-end) that goes out of the window.
I'm with ya on that mindset, as I've been saying since like the beginning of the thread. I realize that I'm being selfish with my POV, but it really is that I just want the best possible game. When is the last time we had a state of the art 2d Castlevania? SotN? Too bad my love for boxes has made it so I can't really lower my pledge. :c

I'm no programmer, but it's not implausible to think it can get more or less the same performance with a little optimization.
Muramasa was a game developed for the Wii that got ported to the Vita, not the other way around. Also they are using other people's engines as opposed to developing their own. I'm no programmer, but given that they are using U4 for this project wouldn't U3 be the most obvious engine to down port to the Wii U? U3 has a nearly unbroken legacy of 30 fps games.
Holy shit $28 minimum for a copy of the game?
