I would speed through the story but it is so boring that I might not bother. I haven't played much, but the mission design leaves a lot to be desired and isn't up to even basic third person shooters imo. I'd rather they invested the time in the mp.

There is definitely a story, I'm not sure how well it holds up though.
It's a platformer

It is a TPS platformer though.. And I'd argue not a very good one. This is coming from someone who will near certainly love the mp and is a huge Nintendo can.

Joking aside, I love Rayman legends.

Really?

Other reviewers have even said that the single player is better than the multi and many many more said the single player is pretty damn good and really meaty.

You are the first person I have heard that said something negative about the singleplayer.

Really. I will play some more later in order to see if I change my view, but what I played just wasn't very enjoyable to me. And that's coming from someone who expected to love it.

Opinions I guess, it's possible I'll change my mind and I'll be completely open if so. As I said, I expected good things and feel a little disappointed.

How far have you gotten, the game is 5-7 hours. Heard the bosses are pretty creative too.

I'm actually finding the single player quite fun. It's not taxing (at least not yet), but it's good at teaching you basics and skills which will obviously become useful in MP, and there's a surprising amount of diversity in the level features and the way encounters and obstacles are constructed.

Found some scrolls too!

The game introduces new things right up go the final boss fight.

damn, congrats to all that got the game early. I would love to be able to dive right into the single player and not feel like I was missing out on anything. I'm going straight for the multiplayer when I get the game. I wish getting games early here existed, any time I get someone who doesn't know better the register won't ring whatever up because it's not the release date.

damn, that's very good to know

Would be fun to know how many minutes of it you actually played since as it stands, my impression is you maybe played two or three levels.

I'll try to coordinate with some people for online time early next week (Tuesday or maybe even Monday with it being the holiday) and stream again so I can show more matches and maybe even Splat Zones.
Hey Nate, can we try to arrange a few pro matches on monday evening (CET time, so afternoon for you in the US)?
My name is Mdk7, i think we might have played a few games together in the past days... I'm currently at level 16, but i've been able to play just 5 matches in the Splat Zone Mode, no one seem to go ever there.
Let's try to do something GAF!

I saw some of the levels by watching the amiibo challenge footage and they remind me of Mario-esque design.

Introduce new concept at start. Allow for a safe place to practice that new concept. Now have a little more risky area with the concept. And then the concept is used a lot of times in succession with mastery of it allowing you to speed through it.
Does anyone know when the embargo is up?
27th I believe.

Have you tried coordinating with others in the Miiverse community?

I also got my copy early and my opinion couldn't be further from yours, not sure what you were expecting but i'm super impressed so far.
Just like all the previews and reviewers have mentioned the single player is done very well.
i guess it will all depend on what you thought it would be, i was expecting a basic single player story which teaches me all the moves whilst being entertaining and so far it's surpassed my expectations.
Your the very first person i've seen that has said it's bad so maybe play a few more levels and it might click?

And what about the soundtrack in Splatofu? Is it good? been reading that some songs can get tiresome after hearing them for some time. Hope not. What I've been hearing so far is so good and catchy.

I read something about cards that you can use instead of the amino? Is that gonna be available for Splatoon? I want the game content but have no interest in the toys.

Amiibo cards. The only game they have been announced and shown for is that one upcoming Animal Crossing home designer game.

After 50h I can still listen to the songs, especially the really weird ones. The online lobby music though... Shouldn't be a problem once the game is released.

Unfortunately they didn't mean making the same amiibos as already made with figurines (or at least they didn't announce that yet, but I wouldn't expect it). Instead, they meant that they can make separate amiibo series as cards, as demonstrated by some sort of Animal Crossing spin-off.

Yeah, I will do. It isn't terrible, so maybe it improves after a few levels.

I'll probably play more tonight/tomorrow and post impressions then.

Everything I've heard so far is awesome and doesn't outstay its welcome. The presentation generally is of a very high standard. There's nothing skimped on.

Are you in the same boat as me and unable to do anything other than single player?
The game won't even let me in the shops or anything...when will this be online.
kind of sucks as i bought it legally but i'm guessing it will be up next week. Any info when servers go up?

These Octoling stages are really good practice for MP battles.

Glad to say that the single player mode does get harder, too.

Yeah, I have the same issue - I was planning on playing MP first so there was immediate disappointment in that.

No idea on servers.. I assume it'll be prelaunch but it sucks:(

I have no idea when they will go online, but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't get turned on until it is released in Japan on the 28th.

Thank you for answers! So looking forward to hear those crazy tunes.
