Not in US , localisation takes a while so I'd expect Persona 5 Spring 2016

So Sony's Spring Line up

Uncharted 4
Persona 5

Seems like a good lineup for the spring.

Not to mention developers don't tend to release games in December, it's like the phantom zone of gaming.

On the contrary, Persona 4 was released in December in the US.

Atlus USA stated after the gameplay trailer released it was still 2015 for the US. That was February.

IIRC Sega Sammy's earnings report also heavily hinted to it being released in Q4 in JP and US.

Does anyone think a Skyrim remaster announcement at Bethesda's presser is a safe bet? They're going to have to stuff their solo presser so it doesn't seem empty and that seems like a pretty obvious choice given A) The strong sales of Skyrim last gen, B) The popularity of remasters on the new consoles, and C) The relative low cost of remastering a fairly recent title.
Or do you think it's too early to release a remaster if the goal is to drum up hype for the next installment (assuming Fallout 4 is coming before TES6).

Or the presser only need be an hour long or less. There's no obligation to fill a 90 minutes slot.

having played a heavily modded PC version of Skyrim for so long, I can't imagine going back to vanilla Skyrim again, even with a good HD remaster.

i go back and forth personally, in the end i dont think they will waste time with it. they've made their profits off that game and Fallout 4 is most likely going to be early 2016 or something.

Oh yeah, now I actually recall that exchange. I guess I had forgotten about it.

Oh, but I should clarify on this:

Their earnings report suggested that P5 is a Q4 release in Japan, but it could still get delayed in both regions. Still, since February was the latest 2015 reconfirmation in NA as you pointed out, Q4 would definitely also be when it releases in North America.

That's true. It just seems that they have a lot to share if they're holding their own presser instead of piggybacking on others this year, so I'm trying to think of smaller announcements to go between their tentpoles.

That's true. Mods are what gave Skyrim its legs and it did have a strong PC audience who have already experienced what a remaster might offer. It just seems like such a no-brainer though to remaster a game that sold so well while remasters are so popular. It could make a great, easy drought-filler next year. I guess time will tell.

I wonder if it'll be a better idea delaying Persona 5 to 2016 considering the immense AAA 3rd party lineup this Q4. I just fear that it'll get ignored under AC, COD, Battlefront, etc. and I want it to be successful.

Or it could benefit from extra holiday sales. Persona 5 will have the benefit of being the only big RPG released during that time(that we know of). Besides many of the people who are definitely going to buy it are going to buy it regardless of what is releasing around it.

There's that, but at the same time I think there's a real negative effect when a game of that magnitude is released in Japan, but then takes a long time to get released in North America. The significance of hype is real, and it only dwindles the farther the releases are apart.

On some level, Persona 5 doesn't operate on the same wavelength as those AAA games you mentioned, despite having the potential to be successful while coexisting among them.

To be fair, it's among the 3 games where devs are quoted saying that they're aiming for 2015, yet the marketing seems sketchy to double-down on them.

Alienation, SotB & Rime. I could easily see any or all of them pushed to 2016 if need be. It feels like even if they make 2015, they'll barely make November.

I'd be surprised if Alienation makes it this year. Marty Sliva recently saw it and he said it was really early in development.

Whilst I think it might oversaturate the market by releasing another open world first person-thingy so close before Fallout 4, a remaster could be a good filler between the two mainseries. Though I would rather have Morrowind than Skyrim or at least a spinoff.

Maybe.

But at the end of the day, I'll take the dev's words over the media, despite various delayed-speculations turning out to be true already in the past 2 years.

If devs said they're targeting 2015, I'll hold them to that until they change their mind.

Won't make a different. The audience rushing out to buy Call of Duty day one and Persona 5 day one don't really overlap that much. It's a niche game with a dedicated fan base. The annual AAA releases will have absolutely no effect on its sales.

I don't even think there are a lot of high profile RPGs left to come out this year (that have been announced) .

Unless both Fallout 4 and Mass Effect 4 seemingly get a 2015 release date near Persona 5, I wouldn't worry about Persona 5 getting a fall release day.

Pretty confident Persona 5 will drop in the US in 2015 due to the amount of times its been confirmed and the fact we've seen Western promo stuff in their offices.

EU is another story, sadly.

I don't think those fan bases overlap that much.

I'm also not sure holding it back would be smart for what fans it does have.

If they release on the same day I'll have both on the same day lol

Just thinking about that Warner Brothers PS4 exclusive verrendus was hinting at and it reminded me that a few days ago a friend sent me a series of tweets from Flaurent Skoi who works at WB who said that the sequel to Inception is happening & it would be a video game.

Oh yeah, there was some stuff Nolan said about a potential Inception game, wasn't there? http://variety.com/2010/film/box-office/inception-grosses-753-mil-worldwide-1118024429/

Still, Verendus saying something means it isn't happening, so oh well.

Those of you saying you don't want leaks, why are you in here? It's a minefield.

Seriously, stay away from this thread if you want genuine surprises.

If there were actually any substantial leaks, they wouldn't be restricted to this thread.

Substantial as in footage to accompany it? Well, that's one part of it, but knowledge of an announcement happening would be the biggest spoiler, so nobody here who is trying to avoid spoilers is doing themselves any favours. We already had one "leak" yesterday. There's going to be more in the next 3 weeks...

It's impossible to not get spoiled if leaks happen, or should I just disconnect my internet for the next 20 days?

The lack of legit leaks is killing me. I want something like the project beast leak :(

Really? Do you have the link to these tweets?

We did?

I have to defend Verendus here. Name one thing where he was dead wrong or wasn't even close. He has from the beginning said that for some of his stuff will it will awhile before they are revealed.

We... did? "Substantial" means anything that actually is a real leak. As in, real and substantiated by some kind of evidence. Not too sure there's been anything like that thus far aside from stuff like the Gears of War thing.

As soon as some serious leaks are presented here, it will spread all over internet

as soon as verendus claims come true, people will say it was predictable and everyone could know it....
