Damn it. Though I was referring to Rebirth, where everyone else got bopped super easy. Save for Ganthet.

I still think Kyle got broken too quickly in Sinestro Corps Wars. But, it was a great way to show that shit was getting real. And then they have that last page showing you just how fucked the GL corps really are.

I also look at it as Geoff Johns taking Kyle down a peg because he can't have another lantern being better than Hal at anything. I got really annoyed at the "Hal Jordan is the most special and greatest Lantern ever" shit towards the end of Blackest Night.

EDIT: Shit. I just saw in the Comics OT that you just read Rebirth. I was just assuming you read it a long time ago and had gone through Sinestro Corps Wars already. My bad.

Preach. Rayner forever.

The problem is they keep making Rayner the Space Lantern. Rayner's the Earth Lantern, DC.

Doesn't help that Johns only seems to like Hal Jordan. Stewart hasn't shown up in New 52 as far as I know and Rayner has had a role in a group book that isn't even going any more (also as far as I know). It's the same with The Flash: Johns only likes Barry. Fuck all other Flashes. If my knowledge is correct, Wally ends up sacrificing himself, and I think Bart is Kid Flash now.

To steer it back to Marvel, I hope Steve Rogers never becomes Cap again. I truly do. I want Sam Wilson as Cap until he runs his course, and then bring in a new Cap. Though I never read it, I heard Bucky was great as Cap, too (so the general consensus would have me believe).

I genuinely hope that we finally get a permanent status change on that front.

I really loved the Master of Kung Fu series. Probably my favorite one so far-great art. If love to see an ongoing Shang Chi from the same team after Secret Wars.

Thats not happening. Thats like removing clark kent from superman status permanently. i think sam will have a longer run than buckycap, but steve will be back for the shield

I don't think Falcon works as Cap at all, honestly.

Honestly, I like him but Steve will be back eventually. I do like how eager Marvel is to pass the various mantles around lately, it always results in such great stories. Plus it's a great way to reboot a series without actually rebooting it. By the time the original characters come back their status quo has changed so much it's like a new series.

Yeah, you could argue that Cage is more Cap than Cap in some recent stories. I believe it more when Cage calls him out on his bullshit than somebody like Stark.

Sam is so earnest and endearing, that he makes a perfect Cap. The Remender run has been great on Cap.

I stopped reading cap around the time that the moniker switched hands (not for any other reason that I wanted to wait for the Sam Wilson run to go for a bit before I pick it up).

I'm not the biggest fan of the costume they gave Sam. It's too Falcon and not enough Cap. I'm interested to check out the run, though. I'll have to do that soon.

I know it's unrealistic. Just like no one can be Batman except Bruce Wayne because, well, he's insane and the only one willing to go as far as he does. Steve is the "one true" Cap, but I still think Sam is a really dope Cap and a good choice on his own. Plus, I mean:

That's done by one of the guys who's also on The Geekbox, yeah? Because that podcast is also incredibly frustrating.

That's right.

That started reading a few issues before the end and found it incomprehensible. And my reaction was basically: No, shit!

For a comic book centred podcast I expected them to put in a bit more effort.

In order to keep costs down, myself and a friend have agreed to split the tie-in comics between us each week and share Comixology accounts (No room for physical copies these days :( )

So I'm now all caught up as of this week. Have to go with the general consensus that Deadpool's Secret Secret Wars was the best of the bunch. I was pleasantly surprised by Legends of Kung-Fu and to round off my top three, A-Force feels like it has potential to be a good series too.

Overall, now we're into the swing of things, I'm certainly feeling positive about this event more than I have with any Marvel event since Civil War. Just have to hope it doesn't descend into a clusterfuck like that did, despite the best efforts of Ultimate End.

Yeah I can imagine. The Geekbox is frustrating because some of them just have awful opinions.
Falcon is not even the best Bird themed Avenger

"An upright, cheerful negro..."

Oh Red Skull you racist Nazi bastard you

And even if Doom happened upon realities with surviving instances of himself, I doubt Doom would save another version of himself, it'd detract from his status as singular God. I'm willing to bet that there is but one Doom on Battleworld.

"Any Von Doom incapable of ensuring his own survival is unworthy of living".

Then again, he did take care of all those brain damaged Vics for a while.

But Doom, like Reed's dad, is almost unique in the multiverse. The Council of Reeds didn't kill all versions of Doom, but they sure as hell got a lot of them, like the Molecule Man said. And even if Doom happened upon realities with surviving instances of himself, I doubt Doom would save another version of himself, it'd detract from his status as singular God. What if the Silence is another Doom?

Quick question for anyone in the know: Any word on if Sage from the X-Men is rumoured/scheduled to make an appearance?

She returned to Earth-616 at the end of the X-Termination crossover a couple of years back and promptly vanished. Would love to have her back again.

That is a throwback. Especially since they only appeared once I believe

Yeah, I had to look her up.

She's a Claremont favorite, so she only really appears in his books.

TBH, I was thinking - they aren't nearly as close... but Cage would have been better.

I want this.
His daughter becomes Cap anyway in a different reality

Hehe, do any of the superheroes even like Pete? So many can't stand the guy.

This is great.

What is the consensus on Falcon being Captain America anyhow?

Man, Spider-Man is the greatest. Please let Slott be off the book post-Secret Wars. Then I'll have even more to thank based Hickman for.

Hehe, do any of the superheroes even like Pete? So many can't stand the guy.

Most of them do, they all just wish he'd stop with the jokes. Well maybe Luke Cage doesn't look forward to him just dropping by unannounced, but that's because Jessica Jones used to have a thing for Pete. Also he's like the 5th member of the Fantastic Four.

all the ones that matter do.

Basically this. That chapter was so good.

Slott has done some great stories in the Spider-Man universe but you can tell he doesn't like Parker, which sucks as Parker is my favourite character in comics, he is the everyday guy with powers. I hope after SW the Spider-Man books go back to Parker, post Superior he has been used so poorly.

5th of the original lineup and 3rd of the new squad. i wish they would have kept the magical 4 around for battleworld

it really was.

I dunno how you can read "I'm With Stupid" and think that, it's a straight up love letter to not only Pete but his bromance with Johnny Storm. Slott's run isn't really about Peter, but building him a new status-quo. Editorial doesn't want him married to MJ so unless they completely rework his universe and supporting cast he'll just keep heading down that road, and while we all want it Queseda doesn't. Pete's got like a dozen new characters in his universe and a new baseline as a result, we just got stuck watching a long rebuild instead of getting it through a timeskip or a reboot. There's only so many "Peter can't pay his rent this month because Jonah is a cheap bastard," side-stories you can tell. Hell everything post-Brand New Day has been a slow rebuild. It hasn't been the most consistent run, but there have been pretty good highs and the job got done. Whoever comes next is going to have a good baseline to build off of.

EDIT: Part of me still wishes we could have gotten that longer Pete/Johnny roommate arc that was planned, Hickman's one-shot showed the potential there.

Granted my only insight into any of Slott's run is Superior, but I really like both Anna Maria and Carlie Cooper based on that. So I mean, if he brought them in, then I'm okay with it.

Pre-Superior was great. It's just that he's not doing much with the character post-Superior.

Well the 616 guys refused to do that shit again and the Ultimate guys were leaving that to Ultimate Reed who totally betrayed them to save his own skin by copying the plans for an arc that 616 Reed came up with.

Doom was looking to beat the Beyonders, that's it.

It's down to two universes at the end because they Beyonders killed off the physical manifestations of the multiverse. A universe could survive with their Earth destroyed, but due to the Beyonder's genocide against the comic abstracts and whatnot every universe was dying a slow death anyway. It's why the 616 Illuminati didn't just find another world, bring everyone on Earth there and blow the Earth up. Every time they tried a sun would explode and ruin their plans or something else would go horribly wrong that they couldn't fix. If the only problem was the incursions then there were real solutions they could have used, but it wasn't.
When you put it into perspective like that it really was a no win situation no matter how you looked at it.
