GAME UK: Truck carrying Splatoon limited editions stolen.

This could one hell of an odd collectable in years to come especially as it couldn't be traded in the usual ways due to them being stolen goods.

That's messed up. Looks like no one's getting that squid amiibo for now. Sucks double that you need that amiibo to unlock content you can't access in any other way.

It probably played out like the opening of The Dark Knight Rises, but with a truck and with the Bane-like dude having a mask made of amiibo.

"What are you doing?"
"Crashing this truck ... with no amiibo!"

cant imagine thats what the thiefs were after. Not exactly a big market for stolen Splatoon I would imagine.

Did they get the right lorry? Where are they going to sell a lorry full of wiiu games in the UK? Sucks for the thieves.

Less for the game itself and more for the amiibo. The damn things are in a constant high demand.

Edit: Especially when the squid amiibo is a pre-order only amiibo. You can't just buy it, so it can go for an insane price.

Heist of the century. Paramount Pictures already working on a film based on the plot. Tom Hardy to the play the mastermind. Paul Greengrass attached to direct.

Reminds me of the GTAV mission where they take over the security trucks.

Just with amiibos instead of solid gold bars.

I'm in public Transport and laughing my ass off like a mad man. Thanks!

Heard about this from the partner who works at a local GAME. Totally sucks. I'm just hoping customers who have pre-ordered will be as level headed as people here. I'm sure they will catch a LOT of flack for this...

I feel conflicted.

On one hand, this is absolutely terrible news for anybody looking forward to the special edition. If I had ordered, say, the Fire Emblem special edition from GAME and it was stolen before it reached me, I would be furious.

On the other, WTF, are people that desperate for Amiibos/money? ...And how did it happen? I hope nobody was hurt, but did they just leave the lorry for a bit and somebody just took off with it? Was it planned? An inside job even? Too many questions.

"Crashing this truck ... with no amiibo!"

"If I removed the amiibo from your preorder, would you die?"
"It would be extremely painful.

"Splatoon is a big release."
"For WiiU."

fake edit:
my condolences to those negatively affected by this. I just can't resist a chance to make terrible bane references.

the second one likewise isn't meant to start console wars shit. i own a wiiu and want this game very badly.

Seriously guys, I have ordered the squid Amiibo, but Nintendo have stated several times that they'll be bringing out cheap 'playing card' Amiibo at some point, starting soon with that Animal Crossing game.
Don't feed the scalpers, just be patient.

Wonder how many copies were in the truck that got stolen.

Hopefully it didn't have too much content.

Reading it, it sounds like their entire allocation of that edition was stolen. Considering it's an amiibo release I'm guessing that's, what, 12 copies?

I know it's not a laughing matter but oh my God what? Why? How?

But seriously, this definitely sucks for those affected.

I suppose it was either planned or a criminal just saw an opportunity. There was story in the UK press yesterday about a criminal gang who stole multiple lorries getting around £200,000 worth of Toblerone chocolate.
