Goddam, that looks good. I already bought the game last week, but haven't had the time to start it yet, partly because of still playing Bloodborne.

You should enjoy Bloodborne slowly, it's a masterpiece. Meanwhile, CDPR will be launching new patches, polishing The Witcher 3 even more. :)

that's my plan! also i don't want to play Witcher 3 in the summer, i feel it's a "winter game" :P nothing better than coming home from work in the dark, cold finnish winter, make myself some hot chocolate or tea and boot up a beautifully realized immersive open-world RPG. wish it was november already.

I gotta say, even though AC:U's lighting is incredible, at times the game can look very 'bleached' for lack of a better word. It's not a very nice look imo.

I think fully dynamic global illumination produces a brighter palette by nature, that's where the "bleached" comes from.

I am. It took me 47 days to play it through, and now I'm going through the dungeons and NG+. It's a blessing in disguise that I'm still stuck with it, as Witcher 3 will get patched to run better in the meantime.

AC: Unity is such a looker and there are times when it fully succeeds in transporting you into a different world. Its an amazing effort, I'll give Ubi that and then some.

One of the best examples of this games ridiculous lighting. Wow.
Witcher 3 lighting engine is pretty good too but imagine if they used Driveclub lighting engine plust asset streaming tech, the load times in Driveclub are amazing and popins are very minimal and i think it might be the same tech Naughtydog will use for Uncharted 4 (internal sony software i think).

Driveclub is one of the best looking games of all time but too many people in this thread are over estimating the capability of the engine in an open world game.

At certain angles, especially during gameplay the environments look great but they are nowhere near good enough for an open world you can explore. Zoom in to the creeks and rocks (further than the track edges) and you can see how low poly and low quality textured they are.

Not a knock on DC at all, there's no need for that stuff to be amazing. But you can't just see a stunning looking game that has small environments with the details on rails and say you want to see such and such game genre in that engine.

Nobody is suggesting they use Driveclub entire game engine. People, myself included who are currently playing Witcher 3 and loving it are just imagining a lighting engine similar to that used in DC being used in Witcher 3. Nobody is over estimating the capabilities of DC engine in an open world game, they are just imagining a situation where such engine is made for an open world game like the Witcher 3.

That is obvious, because DC is not an open world game but DC has one of the most detailed environment of any Racer to date. Zoom in to an area in any game where your character is not present and you will see how low poly and low quality texture is used because the LOD level is switched to the lowest.

Glad you understand object further out in game does not need high poly count and detailed texture. Every game ever created has details on rails, i take that to mean things you cant see are not rendered and things further out are low detailed. Seeing as we are in a screenshot thread in a predominantly game forum, I can see a game like witcher and wonder what it will look like if they had the resources to use a LIGHTING ENGINE as that used in one of the most visually impressive game we've seen this gen. Doesn't mean it will ever happen, maybe not this gen anyway but one can dream.

@danhese007 My post wasn't directed at any one comment or commenter... there have been a few people in here say they want to see the DC engine used in open world games. Likewise the lighting and now the loading, streaming. It isn't as simple as the comments are making it out to be is all I was saying. As well as, as soon as you start making every object and texture in the distance, much more detailed, it likely won't perform the same as it does now being able to hide them.

Some capture card pics of Bloodborne. Lots of good motion blur in games of late.
