E3 2015 Predictions & Discussion thread

My understanding of the PSX hype was that people were enjoying themselves but no one actually believed most of that stuff would happen. I mean, if you did...

This is usually how it goes. People 2 weeks ago barely cared about E3. Then they started posting jokes about TLG, just because that's what you do this time of year, and then the very fact that it's being mentioned feeds into the actual discussion on the game, which in turn feeds into the thread's energy, until it builds into actual hype, generated from nothing past the fact that we're posting. It's the inevitable E3 tradition.

Verendus is so quiet in the last weeks..
I take that as him having nothing else to say.

He's already told everybody to keep expectations in check and realistic while also saying it's going to be a good E3 that he's excited for. Pretty much every insider that's stopped by has said the same thing.

He also said that Sony has three first party announcements in particular to watch out for.

Not sure what else he should be talking about haha.

*emerges from the cabinet under the kitchen sink*

"Did somebody say The Last Guardian?"

There is nothing. Its really really weird. These times we would have heard of things. Nothing. They've been quiet as all get-out. Either BIIIIIG things are happening or they just simply don't have anything to talk about. Hopefully the former.

I think it's that outside of the Gears and Uncharted remasters needing to just get announced, everything big is already announced for this year. So whatever is left is either next year or beyond and so details are slightly scarce for things that are going to be shown in a few weeks. There's likely some rumblings and rumors floating around, but nothing so significant that leaks are coming out.

Or I could be completely wrong. Which is probably the case.

yeah...

There's no hype, no teases, not even those obvious fake lists that some dude just printed on paper and put it on the internet :(

Don't take the silence as no hype I mean last year we got so many CGI announcements by Microsoft. At least we know THAT conference is going to be good. Also, maybe the leaks are just pushed back a week because of E3 being pushed back a week. Idk...all I know is that this year is going to be as decent as a regular E3 to as good as the best. Just so much to show.

Not sure what you all are going on about. There have been multiple teases by multiple insiders in this thread over the past few weeks :P

I can't remember who, but one poster compiled a list of confirmed announcements and rumors.

I enjoyed the PSX hype quite a bit and I don't blame insiders one bit. And I don't think people should either. If you can't control your own expectations and hype, that seems to be a personal issue, especially if you start expecting a conference that sounds like it's out of a fanfic.

We got the Uncharted 4 gameplay video and the SFV bomb that it wouldn`t be coming on the X1. I would say that`s a very good conference from Sony. B+. They just needed a little more to have an amazing event. In regards to insiders, I don't take too much into what they state, but I am hyped for a potential AAA jRPG from Studio Japan that Verendus talked about. However if it's not at this year's E3, it's going to start sounding like bullshit since his post was around 2013. You can assume that if that is true, they had at least one year to work before his comment. A year announced before release for a 4 year dev time seems reasonable. Again, unless he's spectacularly wrong.

"I'm glad there's no leaks"

"Where are all the leaks?"

GAF feeling a bit off this week?

Well, GAF isn't a hivemind, people here want different things. There are those that would do anything for leaks and there are others who don't want the surprises spoiled.

Yea I thought that PSX was fantastic but I didn't let the hype distort my expectations. Stuff like the Yakuza 5 localization just made everything better.

Like I enjoy getting into the TLG hype too. But if your honestly going into E3 expecting such games, that's your fault.

I want a balance between no leaks and enough hype that we don't get too many "Sony/MS/Nintendo have no games and have lazy devs" threads.

"I'm glad there's no leaks"

"Where are all the leaks?"

GAF feeling a bit off this week?

It works like this:

In the case of leaks: 1) leaks, 2) people get excited/itshappening.gif, 3) it's announced, 4) "conference sucked, announcement(s) were already known about," 4) "I hope we don't get any leaks next time"

In the case of no leaks: 1) no leaks, 2) people get anxious, 3) paranoia/itsnothappening.jpg, 4) "I NEED LEAKS"

How Sony's last year E3 was weak if they showed BUNCH of games ( besides Powers part which was boring for me )?

It's a E3 Show, of course a Bunch of Games will be showed.

I already explained why i didn't like the show: media part was too long, First Party Section boring besides Bloobdorne, Third Party Games that we expect (apart from dead island 2)

Everything I'm most excited about is already announced or heavily expected, so I'm not expecting to be surprised. I think that's probably part of the reason for no juicy leaks.

Based on previous years, was there anyway to watch the conferences late? Specifically the Sony Conference. It starts at 7pm in my time zone but I'll be taking care of daddy duties til 8pm. I don't really want to join the conference half way through and would like to start it from the beginning.

Are there any options or is my only option to wait for it to end and then find an archive after the fact?

Good.

Those teases that hype e3 to the stratosphere never fucking pan out.

Hopefully we don't get leaks either. Theres 3 weeks left. We'll live.

There are usually Gaffers that post the download links in a specific "no-spoilers" thread.

So when you bookmark and only visit that thread, you can just watch the conference without seeing the threads that spoil the surprise.
Some people like not knowing what's going to happen so that's their way to get that feeling delayed.

Of course not compatible with Facebook, Twitter etc lifestyle. :-P

Edit: And yeah, you probably have to wait until it's completed before it becomes available. I don't think anyone streams it on a delay.

e3 will be my first monday of spring break, no school! looking forward to watching MS's conference live completely for the first time in ages! i don't expect many surprises, as it seems the large majority of what ms will show has been previously announced (last e3, lol), but there should be a few surprises (rare at least) and some new 3rd party games. absolutely DYING to see halo 5 campaign and hopefully more multiplayer (the long rumored expanded scale big team battle!!), forza 6 (which "will not disappoint anyone"), quantum break (its remedy), scalebound (its platinum), and crackdown (the cloud?).

Only way I can think of, and it's not ideal at all, would be to use giantbomb.

All their live stuff can be reminded as it's going on, even if you join part way.

It's not ideal because I doubt they will just stream the conferences themselves but rather the conf and commentary.

Usually just the archive once it's over.

And I think we will get a handful of announcements between now and the conferences. Sony in particular likes to drop a few things ahead of time so they are discussed at E3 rather than announced there.

Square Enix told they would reboot some IPs, create new ones and show some games at E3.

Ok. Been reasonable... Let's talk about what we could discuss...
FFVII Remake Those IPs they will reboot.

I belive this type of games will get an reboot:
1. Franchises still launched that sold more in past;
2. Old franchises "abandoned"(doesn't need to be BIG);
3. Old Big Success Games;

Whats the diference between 2 and 3?
Games that fill in category 2 are games you like, it became a franchise, but, general public didn't like. But, would only be considered to reboot if it is declared as failure due to launching in a time people wouldn't fully understand the game or wasn't well developed, which can be done now.

Games that fill category 3 are easy to understand with a game as example: Chrono Trigger.
I know, I know. Chrono Cross was made in 2011 for PS3, but, you get my point, right?

Saying that, what games would you think they will reboot?
Think they will announce something at E3?

What's the safest set of predictions someone can make about things which will be shown at e3? How grounded can you get?
- New footage and possible release dates of already announced games
- Announcements of 1-3 notable new games from developers that have been quiet for at least a couple of years
- Expect some games and segments to not interest you

If God of War 4 and Devil May Cry 5 are both announced with some localization announcements on import games like Phantasy Star Nova, Dragon Quest 7/8 and Yakuza 0, I'm satisfied.
