E3 2015 Predictions & Discussion thread

the indiesections don't really take much time from the conference and bring a certain diversity into the show
i dont see a problem if there is a 10 Minute indie demonstration on a show thats over 100 minutes
The No Man Sky Gameplay (7 Minutes long) was actually one of the highlights of last years E3

im looking forward to those high quality indiegames like rime, Everybodys gone to the Rapture or Shadow of the Beast

Those indies you mention are I suppose this gens AA titles and those I actually do think can compensate and deserve more than just a highlight reel, but 2D sidescrollers and pixel art RPGs are whatnot.. I really hope they are limited to a brief reel and nothing more.

Sony:
- Lean hard into indies
- Hey, Arkham Knight content... *hats everywhere*
- Uncharted 4 trailer (2-3 minutes)
- Syphon Filter (Bend is good at making these)
- PS Classics (PS1/PS2) playable on PS4 (only PSN copies, though)

Microsoft:
- Lean harder into indies, because Phil Spencer demands it.
- Halo 5 trailer + gameplay; forgets MC collection fiasco entirely
- Gears of War Re-release trailer + conceptual trailer for all-new Gears
- Nothing about Hololens or SmartGlass, outside of...
- More Windows 10 PC & Xbox integration (showcase trailer of sorts)
- Quantum Break trailer and more gameplay demo; Sam Lake has awesome hair for the event

I predict that Square Enix will reveal a reboot to Fear Effect developed by Eidos Montreal, ditching the cell art style.

This place is like the 2.0 version of the Sony hype thread lol

Aaaanyway, are we sure Zelda will be a no show?, I mean maybe by not being there they meant as in playable on the show floor, right guys?, right?

D:
I think it will make an appearance one way or another. Or at least I hope so.

I'm really hoping we get a release date for Hyper Light Drifter. Haven't heard anything about it in ages and the last we heard is that it was due to be released "early 2015." Clearly that didn't pan out.

Is Microsoft gonna waste my time with Kinect crap even after unbundling it? Probably.
Looking forward to seeing some Scalebound stuff that is not CGI tho.

I don't think MS will waste anymore time with Kinect.

I wonder what games Sony and Microsoft will show for their indie showcases. In recent weeks, I've seen quite a few devs go quiet or mention talks with publishers

Mainly:

The Last Night (already confirmed for PS4)

Eitr (dev mentioned E3 and that a publisher picked up the game)

I had totally forgot about The Last Night. Playing the demo was pretty freaking amazing.

The only zombie sim that matters anyway is Project Zomboid. That's still going strong. The whole PvP zombie sandbox "people are the real enemy" sims seemed to have the lost their luster

Honestly the most appealing thing I've seen pitched is still Class 4, the formerly planned sequel to State of Decay. Take over a safe house, gather supplies, specialize your character in one area for the benefit of the group ect ect. I want something community coop based at it's core with pvp on top, but server side toggleable. H1Z1 was closest, but after SOE was sold, I haven't heard much about it anymore.

If they had the ability to prevent TLG from being leaked then why not prevent everything else from being leaked?

So far that's what they've done. Sony seems to be the most quiet this year. Just compare the E3 conference announcements. MS made had a press release detailing their events, Nintendo made a Youtube video for their announcements and Sony...just gave a time and date.

What did MS reveal exactly?

Or the less exciting possibility - there's simply not that much to be leaked.

That's always a possibility, but you're not sitting next to me with that type of attitude. I think the surprises will be 3rd party stuff mostly. We kinda expect some 1st party stuff anyway. I actually am most excited about alienation. If they get the loot right, I'm gonna be addicted.

And, hmmm.

Rented out cinemas across every state in the US to stream their conference.

Terrible sign.

Like they did for the PS4 reveal, where KZ: Shadowfall, Knack, inFamous SS, and Driveclub were all announced.

After Bloodborne and SFV leaking, can't blame them for keeping a lid on everything.

So let's get some predictions in this here prediction thread, from one or any of the below:

I wasn't suggesting that it's a bad sign. I'm just saying that they seem to be serious about keeping everything underwraps this year, to the point that they aren't saying much publicly. Like GeoramA mentioned above, last year they had two huge announcements leak out (SFV and Bloodborne). That wasn't necessarily because of something they did wrong, but it seems like they just want to come in flying as low under the radar as possible.

=(

I'm sure there will be surprises, but probably not something super huge to be leak worthy. I think that'll be reserved for Playstation Experience, which I'm definitely not missing this year.

An attention-needing "insider" isn't going to come here and leak some third party marketing deals or new indies which people wouldn't really know yet, since most of the time they are new IP. I'll be excited to see them during the show though!

If they had the ability to prevent TLG from being leaked then why not prevent everything else from being leaked?

There are different levels of secrecy and access for all kinds of projects at companies. There are things you show to critics and other important people in media before large events, and there are things that nobody but the employees who need to know hear about until the date of the event. It's very likely TLG would be the latter.

Here's my guess on what we will see.

▽Sony
  • Uncharted trailer
  • Morpheus details (possibly real name reveal) (PlayStation Vision)
  • Possible DayZ trailer
  • No mans sky
  • Big focus on indie games
  • Valve announces a new cross platform/cross play game

▽Microsoft
  • Medieval Engineers
  • Halo
  • Gears
  • More indie games

Also I got bored and made an E3 schedule video

I'm not sure if I understand. They did the same thing last year, no? I'm not sure what you mean by them keeping things under wraps.

Guys, I've changed my mind.
Sony will start the conf with Deep Down.

Now... Seriously. What happened to that game?
