Driveclub - This game is legit

Card Boy

I picked up Driveclub two weeks ago for $18 Preowned from EB (It was sealed too! Probably unwanted from a bundle) and i am having a blast with it. I was one of those that blindly shat on it when it got it's mixed reviews at release but i figured for $18 i thought why not? I could always just return it with EBs 14 day returns policy for pre-owned goods.

What i like about the game

- Sense of speed
- The graphics
- The presentation
- Car sounds
- All the little challenges you can go for and face offs

What could use abit of work

- Would be cool if there was a co-driver that spoke your directions in rally pseudo rally events
- I would like the option to put the mini map at top middle 3rd of the screen, i don't like looking at the corner of my screen
- Needs an optional race line
- More customization options (my biggest issue besides 30FPS)
- Could do with cars that are non-European

It must be because i am playing a patched version of the game that people didn't receive at launch but the game dam fine and is currently not worth the 70-71 meta it's got (should be another 10 points higher).

That reminds me, two new tours were added again this week from the season pass. Have to win all the races to keep up my 100% trophy progress. :)

The game is heavenly. Great visuals and play.

Agreed on the season pass value too.

second is gamersyde gif? first idk

Ain't those races that go in a long stretch with a % counter a rally? If not then yes give me proper rallys as-well.
Oh you mean the point to point races? (As opposed to lapped races.) No, those aren't rally. Rallys are generally off road events.

I always keep telling people to buy Driveclub now for $20, it is an awesome game and deserves a 85 metacritic now with all the post launch content and updates. Plus people should get the season pass and free monthly cars.

How is the actual gameplay? I loved Motorstorm: Pacific Rift but, this looks like just another racer.

What does "just another racer" even mean?

Anyway, I'm glad people are seeing through the fog of bullshit now and are getting round to playing this game. Fantastic arcade racer.

It is fantastic, and a majority of the people that own the game are always on here trying to share how fun the game is, in the OT and in any other thread where DriveClub is mentioned.

I got DC last week, really liking it even though I'm downright awful at it. It's the kind of racer I hadn't played since Burnout, that makes you forget to exhale until the finish line.

Drift events can suck it though.

What also could use some work is the AI that gives negative shits. It's almost like playing online, if you're in their racing line they will ram you like you weren't there.

I mean an average racing game with nothing unique to offer. Just the typical amount of tracks, customization, etc.

I so, so, so wish they didn't botch the launch of this game. Its probably my favorite racer of all time.

I think the groundwork is already there for rally events. There are events in the latest Season Pass tours that use the buggy which allow you to go offroad/cut corners all you want without penalty.

Another big plus for this game that's often overlooked - the load times are pretty damn quick. And instantaneous if you restart. I love that.

Yeah I really like it. Bought it at launch, played for awhile, and got sick of the netcode being so bad.

Went back to it last week, went full ham and bought the season pass, and I'm really enjoying it. Some of these events are pretty tough, but it's a good thing that it requires some practice, I think.

If only 90% of the races wasn't in the rain.. but seriously all these rain races on events are pissing me off. I'm tired of them already..

Probably the best season pass I have ever bought. Evolutions post game support is superb. I really do hope they introduce a new track soon though, preferably super fast long straights in the middle of a large canyon.

- More customization options

If you mean paintjobs & bodywork...well meh IMO but whatevs...if you mean tuning, then no as it goes against the idea behind the game IMO.

I will say it again tho - NO RACING LINE, not even and option. Learn the tracks, learn the braking points. Git gud.

I liked it a lot, but the crash happy AI got to be pretty annoying. I was planning on going back to it once I was finished with The Witcher 3, but I'll probably be too busy with ESO and Arkham Knight so I'll probably just end up trading it in eventually.

I can't justify spending 37.95 AU on the Season Pass when the base game cost me $18. I haven't done all the Regular, Photo Finish and Ignition Events yet.

I'd rather wait for the PS plus version I was promised as a selling point before I picked up a PS4.

I picked up this game 2 months ago. It was the first car game that truly made me think "next gen"

To all those people complaining about a lack of PS+ edition... Bah on you. Game is worth $20.

Man you got me all excited to try this. I don't really play racing games much (last one I really enjoyed was Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2010), but I want a good summer arcade racer to chill out with. Plus my PS4 is just gathering dust since I beat Bloodborne and TLOU.

I really need a good tutorial to play this game competently. If anyone can point me in the direction of one I'd appreciate it. I own the game, but I've never really played straight racing games.

Sounds like you're looking for some type of gimmick, honestly. It's not a kart racer, it's a pure racer with some simple power sliding mechanics.

Best tip I can give you is brake early and stop braking as you go into a turn. Also pay close attention to the green, yellow, and red flags as they indicate how sharp the turns will be.

Sorry. This is a racing game. It has cars, it has tracks, it has challenges and different TOD/weather scenarios but more than anything, the game is about the racing.

If you don't like pure racing games, then this probably isn't the game for you. Look at games like blur and split/second.

Also grabbed this recently but haven't had much of a chance to play it. I played the first "tutorial race" or whatever you'd call it (I'm playing vanilla retail game, no patches or anything) which was pretty easy, as well as the next 2 tour events I guess they're called?

Seems fun so far. I will probably dive into it more once I get a chance to bring my PS4 home and grab all the updates/patches/DLC cars.

Has the AI in single player been fixed at all? Last I owned it, it was downright awful at a certain point. I called it quits because of that.

Edit: typoooo.

Oh yeah you definitely want those patches. Weather, new courses, cars, replay mode, photo mode, etc. etc. And yes it starts off really easy, but you'll soon find the difficulty ramping up especially after you move up to the faster cars.
