Driveclub - This game is legit

I never understood the "limited car selection" critique. For example, if there was 50 cars to choose from where you'd atleast want to play with every car for atleast an hour that's 50 hours of gameplay. If a car isn't even worth 1 hour of gameplay from most players there's no place for it in the game.

Since I know little-to-nothing about cars I prefer my games to be without tuning. I don't know what I should be aiming for so any game that just lets me get right to the racing without playing a meta game is more than welcome in my book.

You're ok kinoki. The game is good. Everyone can enjoy it. It's just not, in my opinion, racing game of the generation.

Why is this a troll post? I outlined why I disagree that its the best racer this Gen with actual facts.
Oh come on. Now I'm not calling you a troll, you gave opinions why you think Forza 5 is the best racer, and I can appreciate that but those were not facts. You value 60 fps and car tuning over everything else. I get it, and that's fine. I don't begrudge anyone their opinion, but don't try and pass those opinions off as concrete facts.

You actually didn't present any facts, you made a flippant statement about 30fps being "what's hot in the streets now" and then claimed, without any reasoning, that Forza was the best current gen racer in spite of faults it has, but gave no reasons as to why.

There are zero facts?

Fact 1: Its a circuit racer that's 30 fps.

Fact 2: Car selection is limited. No American or Japanese cars.

If you disagree, please elaborate on why you think Driveclub is the racing game of the generation as some are claiming. The game reviews seem to be on my side. Metacritic for both Forza titles is much higher than Driveclub. Please don't bring emotions into an objective debate and don't let the Chief avatar get you feeling some type of way.

Yes, you're trolling. What facts? Customization, 'limited' number of cars ( what is unlimited number of cars? 400? ), 30 fps? Is there a law for that in racing games?

When you're taking reviews for your own claims, i know you're trolling.

Yes! You're trolling. Chevy says Hi! But you're right about no japanese cars ( for now ). At least Lykan Hypersport is an asian car.

Btw. Forza 5 has a limited car selection! It doesn't have Rimac car.

Let's get some facts in here then, first off Forza 5 your so claimed best current gen racer doesn't even have dynamic weather which adds a bunch to the game (Forza Horizon 2 for example is amazing, which idk why you didn't choose that one as best racer even though it's open world).

Second we both know Metacritic is compiled of people who know racers and some that don't making it not a very well ranging meter for what games is better than the other and we know Driveclub's launch affected the later reviewers that didn't publish their review on Metacritic on launch day like others did.

Third Driveclub has had amazing post launch content and support making you keep playing the game, while forza 5 has had microtransaction put into it.

I could go on and make a deeper comparison but that would make me a fanboy in the eyes of others and I try to be neutral on neogaf.

Really? Is this what we're going to do? Fight? I thought I'd come comeback to a circlejerk of gifs and photo mode shots of how jaw dropping the game is. I thought threads like these were a thing of the past.

Yup, it's a Driveclub thread. lmao

Having gone back to it after Bloodborne and Witcher 3 taking over my time, I almost forgot how fun the handling and beautiful the game is.

Allright guys, you win. It's the racer of the generation. Love you all and I'm out. For the record, I never said it was a bad game.

Since my knowledge about cars extends to about the most famous brands I never felt that the lack of any nationality's cars was really a big deal. I haven't even analyzed the selection in any detail. I just like the cars they have on selection and have spent a great deal of time with a lot of them.

Hopefully we'll see a season two with more cars, tracks and content.

Love you too.

You are right let's end this nonsense, bring on the gifs!

The handling is weird, the AI sucks, some of the areas are entirely forgettable, the main campaign is too short with a ridiculous difficulty spike on one circuit and the DLC is too easy in comparison. All in all a typical evolution release.

Here's one I've never seen before. Not great image quality, but shows how heated online racing can get.

Awesome herod is here. Can't have a DC thread without herod showing up doing his schtick.

From all the racing games I've played it is the least amount of fun I had. Didn't like the way AI drivers behaved, the way it controlled, the race tracks.

It's a great looking game, especially with the weather effects but that's about it for me.

This is a fact:

The only "facts" you brought to the table were your opinions.

Also a fact:

Driveclub and Forza 5 aren't even in the same racing sub-genre.

It's like me coming in here talking about how I prefer project cars. It's just not relevant and nobody cares.

How is the game as just a single player game? Is it important to have friends to play the game with?

I play solo, haven't touched multiplayer yet. Good single-player tour campaigns (like 50 of them). Get harder the more you progress.

I suck at drifting but I don't care

The car in front of you spins out, hits a guard rail and then passes you and it all happens in 4 seconds..
I was too afraid to mention it.
I love the game's graphics, but the mechanics are not as amazing as could be. Also, how can I turn down the difficulty in tours? Been playing Starline, and I mostly place in the bottom half of the board.

I don't get all the complaints about the AI. I could count the number of times the AI has sent me completely off the track on one hand.

Bigger issue from my perspective is that they're too slow/careful on turns that they can just be in the way of my taking the corner any faster.

driveclubs graphics really carry it. Doubt anyone would praise it so much if it didn't look so great as its other aspects are average at best. The fact that 99% of the praise the game gets are about the visuals prove my point.

Graphics certainly helped in getting me to stop waiting for the PS+ version.
But It's the challenges and reward structure that keeps me hooked and playing daily.

I rarely play online. And even if you're in a club you don't have to race online with them or against other clubs. If you choose to you can battle their best times that come up in the challenges, but you're never forced to do it live. And apart from all that there are a ton of single player tours. The vanilla game comes with one tour, but there's at least 2 free dlc tours. And a lot of the others are fairly cheap if you decide to buy them individually.

But even if you buy the vanilla game and buy nothing else, there's plenty of content to keep you busy. I have well over 100 hours in this game and I've only bought a couple of extra tours. And honestly I didn't even finish them.

Oh, and all dlc courses are completely free. In fact you don't even have to "buy" them on PSN they just appear when you grab the patch.

I'm pretty sure I made that gif, do you have the thread where you got it from? :)
Oh I'm sorry. I'll try and dig it up. Gimme a few minutes.

I picked up Driveclub two weeks ago for $18 Preowned from EB (It was sealed too! Probably unwanted from a bundle) and i am having a blast with it. I was one of those that blindly shat on it when it got it's mixed reviews at release but i figured for $18 i thought why not? I could always just return it with EBs 14 day returns policy for pre-owned goods.

What i like about the game

- Sense of speed
- The graphics
- The presentation
- Car sounds
- All the little challenges you can go for and face offs

What could use abit of work

- Would be cool if there was a co-driver that spoke your directions in rally pseudo rally events
- I would like the option to put the mini map at top middle 3rd of the screen, i don't like looking at the corner of my screen
- Needs an optional race line
- More customization options (my biggest issue besides 30FPS)
- Could do with cars that are non-European

It must be because i am playing a patched version of the game that people didn't receive at launch but the game dam fine and is currently not worth the 70-71 meta it's got (should be another 10 points higher).

Nice to see someone coming forward to admit when they're wrong. Hopefully moving forward people just don't do this kind of shit anymore.

And even with 'just' 30 FPS it blows every other racegame away with it's sense of speed.

I've spent over 150 hours on DC and honestly think it's the best damn racegame ever made. Hoping for a season 2 pass.

it's fun as hell.

99%? oh god.

I mean really.

game is fun as hell.

best looking racer ever. Some of the most advanced shit going on all at once.

load times are the best ever (post N64)...in and out of races quick. Very helpful if want to get a quick couple of races in.

Game size is not huge, compared to other games this gen.

many beautiful cars to choose from.

even the slower cars still are fun to drive, and the sense of speed is still there.

I mean all the complaints I think most had, were when it first released...and most shit didn't work.

Ok, now we've gone from reaching game of the generation to best racer EVER made.
