Austin Walker joins Giant Bomb

From the Project Cars review

Austin Walker spent 15 hours hugging the corners and shifting gears in Project CARS, but this isn’t his first race. He grew up on Gran Turismo, learned to drive on Forza Motorsport, and isn’t afraid to admit that he misses Project Gotham Racing.

He's Ok in my book.

From his last ever Patreon post:

"But now I’m going to have someone else helping me to pay my rent. Starting on June 1st, I’ll be joining Vinny Caravella and Alex Navarro in Giant Bomb’s East Coast office. Maybe you already know that because you’ve listened to this week’s Giant Beastcast. I’m thrilled and excited and anxious and a billion other things. (Multitudes, right?) I have lots of challenges ahead, and I’m excited to tackle them."

intelligent

loves indie games

wtf is he doing at giantbomb

Just kidding, it's going to be fine. GB East is best GB.

He seems way too intellectual for Giant Bomb. Should make for interesting conversation though.
Thinking about the GB East makeup, I think he actually complements Vinny and Alex pretty well!

This seems like an excellent choice, I've missed the kind of writing Patrick brought to Giant Bomb and Austin seems like he'll be an excellent voice with a similar vibe.

Look forward to seeing what he does, especially how he adapts to a more visible persona.

Just had a terrible thought. What happens soon when Dr Tracksuit finds out his manger is associated with another doctor?

It wasn't until I got an iPhone and use the podcast app a lot that I realized just how big Giant Bomb podcasts are. So congrats to Austin Walker, this is a pretty big get for him. E3 coverage is going to be awesome.

Were you not here with Dan and Jason were hired ? Because boy...
The Giant Bomb guys have made it clear that they can handle criticism of their hiring practices and discussions on diversity in the industry like the grown ass adults they are.

If nothing else this should maybe make people realize you can actually have a diverse office and also get the best person for the job.

I just read this. I'm sold. Can't wait to listen to the Beastcast.

I like Randall Cunningham, the quick-scrambling, play-making quarterback for the Eagles. No, I love him. My dad makes sure I get his autograph once, outside of an open practice in Westchester, PA. On the way home I hear from him about how “black quarterbacks” are a fairly new thing.

Oh man, wait is he actually not Canadian?

Oh man.

Seriousness of the topic included aside, as a child of the Philly suburbs in the 90s, this bit is great.

Dad still owns his clothing store in that mall on the Atlantic City boardwalk.

Looks like he's a Jersey kid. This dude just keeps getting better and better.
