Austin Walker joins Giant Bomb

Not getting worked up, more just rolling my eyes.

I think you are seeing things that aren't there.

Anyone looking for a picture of our Austin Walker will see this horrible mugshot first, and posting the wrong photo of a person as a joke is the kind of thing people do.

Your right, bit hungover and was didn't realize the context of the Google image search.

My bad...

Take it easy. Don't turn everything into a fight.

listening to the Justice Points podcast he joined and it wasn't something I was expecting. comparing it to the few Minutes of GB podcasts I listened to, I seriously hope he does something good for them

I just finished read Austin's piece about NPCs in Shadow of Mordor and Watch Dogs. I'm super impressed with his work. I'm so glad he's with Giant Bomb. I can't wait to read more of his work. I wish I had been exposed to his work before.

Exciting stuff. I don't have the stamina to make it through multiple paragraphs so can't comment on his past work linked to earlier, but fellow gaffers seem positive on it. Glad we can now get Austin in GB video form for those of us raised by TV.

To be critical of someone's work, you can only judge them after a period of time has passed. Right now, Austin is an unknown to us GAFers and is in what I like to call the "Honeymoon Period"

Excellent. Been following Austin's work around the net for ages now. The guy is an incredibly talented writer and has a knack for tackling the rough issues.

GB got an incredible grab.

Really looking forward to seeing what he does with the East folk.

His past work is months and years old, so you can be critical right now of them if that's what you want. People are just waiting to judge his Giant Bomb work as a blank slate when he actually starts. You can judge him from the first Giant Bomb podcast he's been on. No one's stopping you to be critical at any time.

This is more on me than anything I'm sure, but I definitely had a difficult time distinguishing between Jeff and Austin on the show. I *think* I got a handle on the voices by the end but we'll have to see.

One thing I'd like, entirely selfishly as an aid to expediting my voice recognition, is for some sort of video content with both Jeff and Austin (and Vinny, Alex, whoever) chatting on a couch, some UPF style show, even if a one-off. I think if I had faces to pair with the voices that would greatly help my audio handicap (in the sense of watching the faces talk to each live, not just looking at photos or watching separate video content).

Ah, he's the new Patrick Klepeck. lol

To me, he seems way more personable and likable than Klepeck ever did. The problem I had with Partrick was that every time he spoke, it felt like he was talking down to everyone around him, that he had to let everyone know how intelligent he was. It wasn't a dealbreaker for the site for me, but it definitely rubbed me the wrong way.

Personally, I really like Austin and how he fits into the cast and I'm looking forward to hearing more from him.

almost fell out of my chair when I heard he grew up in London, Ontario... I must have passed right by this guy a few times in my early life. (he's not wrong about that city either. it's in bad shape.)

Same. I was like woah didn't see that one coming.

Patrick has been posting on Neogaf for awhile, might've picked up some his more "negative" qualities right from here.

Lol, what? No it's not. It was weird hearing Austin insult it as well. It's pretty much the same as any mid-sized Canadian city, it has some problems of course but no different than Kingston or Guelph or Waterloo. For crying out loud, it's not even Hamilton (which is still pretty tame). Sure it's not a bustling cosmopolitan metropolis but it's got 350,000 people, it's not Toronto. Why do people always exaggerate?
