Koji Igarashi Kickstarts Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (2.5D, backdash, 2018)

Hopefully to get this discussion on a better track.

In Symphony of the Night regardless of whatever weapon Alucard equipped his attack animation for swinging his weapon was the same regardless whatever it was.

The only difference mind you was the individual weapon effects. Such as the Crissaegrim and it's invisible blades or the Shield Rod, weapons looked different in this regard but Alucard own animation didn't change.

Wouldn't be nice if Miriam when equipped with a Sword her attacks would be appropriate for a sword user, and instead if she equipped a Whip her animations change enough that it accommodates a whip fighting style, rather then say have a basic attack animation that is a one-size-fits-all approach like it was in SOTN.

I think even Aria of Sorrow had individual attack animations for certain weapons, so I don't see why this is something difficult to implement.

TL:DR, If Miriam is equipped with a Sword her play style is reminiscent of Alucard, but if she has a Whip equipped her style changes up so that's it's similar to controlling a Belmont-like character.

Well, they'll be working with 3D models instead of sprites this time around. Theoretically, animating more attack motions should be much easier.

New KS update! The voice of Alucard from SotN is back!!!

I know, great news.

I'm interested in this.

He was great and it really hasn't even been all that long since he passed. He did a decent amount of voice work, if he were still around it would have been awesome if he could have worked on this game.

RIP.

Yeah, he was great in Prince Valiant and TMNT.

tonight I dine on turtle soup

Awesome to see that they have a Wii U stretch goal as well. Love having games for Off-TV play as well, and if this turns out anything like Shovel Knight, I'm probably going to end up Triple or Quadruple dipping again anyway lol. I wonder what kind of features they can do using the gamepad on the U, they could have either the choice of Off-TV play or even using the gamepad as a map screen so I always have a map open.

Wooah that's really cool!

I'm a bit out of the loop. Will the Wii U version use the UE4 engine or will they go for something else? As far as I know, UE4 doesn't officially support the Wii U, and it doesn't look like it ever will.

Iga give a humble and positive impression. I think this may be the best thing that could happen to the gaming industry. Backing and freezes me in ice until the game is released

Dark MetamorPHOsit

I don't hear it, honestly. There's clearly an s at the end. If you just mean that the emphasis is on the wrong portion of the word, then, sure. It's not bad at all imo.

:(

Love your avatar <3

Hey, thanks, man. =)

Judging by the two comments I've gotten regarding my avatar I'd say it falls in the "critically acclaimed" category. ;)

I must say, the addition of a Wii U port does seem weird. Obviously, it will have to be designed separately using a different engine, but it's more about where the Wii U will be in two or more years. Seriously, the Wii U isn't doing well...what's it going to be like in 2017?

The purpose of the Wii U port is to get more KS money from Nintendo die-hards, rather than the actual existence of the port. The Wii U will assuredly be beyond dead in 2017. It makes as much sense as porting the game to the PS360. I almost wonder if the costs of the port will be justified. Just like cheat codes don't cost 250k, I imagine redoing the game on a much lower-spec console on a different engine probably won't cost 250k either. I've always wondered how much these outsourced portjobs cost to be honest. Maybe they are that cheap, dunno.

In any case, it doesn't seem to have moved the needle in any meaningful way.

has any one stated how many dungeon stretch goals there are in total?

I dunno but fucking shit we better hit an orchestrated soundtrack soon.

Can we get the voice of Dracula from SotN as a stretch goal please?

Orchestrated soundtrack would be nice. Also I don't recall if it was stated with way before but the FAQ question hints both Nintendo and Handhelds now. So people can get their bodies ready if that ends up showing up as a goal.

I want the voice of the Japanese Dracula. Norio Wakamoto's voice is pretty iconic. Too bad he probably doesn't know any English.

He is a great VA. He doesn't really fit the image I have for Gebel (Gods knows if I'm even close to being on point with it though) but he is pretty versatile so I could see it working.

You were saying? Apologize right now!

Doesn't sound like he knows English from that clip. if anything it makes me think he doesn't and he's pronouncing it all phonetically.

He doesn't have to be Gebel though. I'm sure there are plenty more unannounced characters (and characters that haven't been concepted yet). One might fit the bill.

I'm not worthy.

Not good enough. The red katana will only accept your sudoku.

That's true. These games are usually focused on smaller cast of characters so if it's not Gebel or Johannes it probably wouldn't be a very large role. Although that does make me think maybe Johannes.

BTW, I'm pretty impressed with the way this KS has been run. Kudos to Fangamer for their "metagame" format and the way they are presenting the stretch goals and keeping fans interested and invested in this title and project. I have a feeling any future KS with some funds to spare will use them to help their funding goals.

So best friends did a playthrough of aria of sorrow on the wiiU virtual console and one of the things they talked about which is prevalent in the castlevania games is monster girls, hilariously hoping there's alot in bloodstained.

You know, I hope whoever pledges the "design a weapon" tier makes something either a stupidly novel weapon or something broken like the Criss/Vals etc.

Yeah. I wouldn't mind something like a table spoon or a fork. Why make the best item in the game when you can make the worst?
