Oof, these are a little rough. Foliage looks like last gen in that first shot and the second shot isn't a looker, but that may be due to YouTube compression.

If this is how it really looks, cross-gen is looking like a possibility again.

Edit: Here's a screenshot of Skyrim on 360. Screenshots above are undoubtedly next-gen, but I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility for them scale everything back a bit to get it running on last-gen hardware.

Releasing this news before E3 means you get more attention on your game. XCOM 2 isn't a good example because it's PC only and wouldn't have a spot at any conference.

They really should have just hired Obsidian to do all the games. Although I'm sure when they fucked the company over with the metacritic bonus thing, I doubt Obsidian would even be interested.

If they did this same reveal during E3 it would just be another announcement in a sea of announcements.
