I'm guessing that MS has some sort of marketing deal and/or timed DLC on this one, as the XB1 version is sitting in the front of the set. Am I reading too much into the placement of the various boxes?
Or it's just alphabetical order.
This is presumably how their next game will look too.

If anything, the visuals could improve between the preview and release. That's a rarity nowadays.

Most console games do not have shadows cast from procedurally place grass, rocks, twigs etc (minutea). Most games do not really, even on PC (Dx12 and vulkan may change that though).
The egregious part is how the AO does nothing for said non-shadow casting objects.
I will give them time, but they really always do everything wrong on a technical level (the oblivion reveal to the game launch is perhaps the best example).

Guys, I think the graphics deserve more credit. Your finally getting images representative of in game quality and then you shit down the devs throat for doing so. Would you prefer bull shots? downgrades? CGI? this gives possibility of improvements and keeps out hype in check. Why would you want to be pissed off in the end when they reveal something they cant deliver on? Witcher 3 still hurts

Absolutely. It's how I started into the franchise myself. They even look nice in some occasions, especially in cramped metallic bunkers and vaults. It's oddly funny and dark at the same time, with some of the most inspired missions I've ever played. The writing is really top notch.
Yup. I feel the same way. Just a straight up screenshot teasing us of a much bigger world, much better than a CGI trailer (even though I love those too). The fallout 3 teaser trailer didn't even get me hyped; but this does, and it's only one frame!
It's the internet. It's all we are capable of is knee jerk whining. It's why we were put in this earth to find something, hate it and make sure everyone else knows how much we hate it.

Screens look like dump. Hard to get excited when I know it's going to be marred by all the same issues that have plagued Bethesda's games since Morrowind, 15 years ago. It's not so much that I'm disappointed by the graphics, I'm disappointed that the game is almost certainly going to have terrible animations, seperate interior / exterior cells, and the same dialogue systems with only bolted on improvements.

As someone who never got into Fallout 3, can someone explain to me why everyone is so excited about Fallout 4? Like, why is it considered so good in gaming community?

Its incredible really. Everything either looks like shit or isn't actual gameplay and will be downgraded. There is no pleasing them.

Popped into this thread to join in the excitement, it's almost all drowned out by people complaining about the graphics from that screenshot.

It looks like standard gamebryo fare. It looks, well, passable. Not looking forward to the endless jank that usually accompanies the engine.
I'll probably pass unless they've managed to make combat really fun this time. Never really got into the post-apocalyptic universes. I'm much more of a snowy peaks, dense forests and lush wildlife type of gamer myself when it comes to RPG's.
Still, excited to see more of it, let's hope they changed things up big.

I saw someone suggest that it may be implying that we build our own Power Armour (because it's hanging up with tools all around). That would be really interesting, because in 3 you just kind of picked it up, became a tank and went on your way. This could be a whole questline to get the armour and assemble it.
Also, apparently the dog companion is a big focus.
Yep, probably it was cross gen until few months ago.
To all these people complaining about the complaints, the graphics are underwhelming in major areas, that's a fact.

I just want a release date, if they've got box art nailed down already could it possibly be this year? I may drop dead from happyness if that happens and Idc wtf it ends up looking like, if its as massive and interesting as the previous 2 Fallout games I'll play it for YEARS
