Fallout 4 Officially Revealed for PC, Xbox One, PS4 [Reddit Rumor = Ban]

1. Why would you skip the game if you could only play as a male? The story may call for it.

I play Fallout to enjoy an open world RPG where I can play my own stories as characters I identify with and I don't like playing long open world RPGs as a solo protagonist that I don't identify with. Fallout 3 and New Vegas were exactly that and I loved them for it. Changing that would be a step backwards.

I would absolutely not play Fallout 4 if there was a specific male protagonist.

I was hoping to see something along the lines of The Division when it comes to graphical fidelity.

And we know Ubisoft. They always deliver.

Are people actually complaining about the graphics of a bethesda game in here? lol Gaf

I think the art direction looks way more interesting than I thought it was going to be, which imo art direction is more important than graphical fidelity.

I do really hope that bethesda learned things from obsidian though. Faction systems, a divisible main story, more interesting skill checks, and of course the humor of the original Fallout games which I thought FO3 kinda lacked in some areas. It was too gritty and depressing, which imo isn't really what Fallout games should be. They should be weird and goofy sci fi schlock with obscure pop culture references littered all over the place.

You'll probably be hoping for [that The Division in The Divison OT too then, it's a Ubi game. For all my criticism of what we were shown by Bethesda they have never indulged in the 'target footage' scam the way Ubisoft have routinely done

I like how they chose to focus so much on the dog for the trailer and its looks and animations are literally hilariously bad (even if nothing on that trailer looked particularly good graphically, but still). Good on them for having the balls and not fooling everyone with a CG trailer, but I still found it quite funny.

Overall the cities looked very interesting and I don't care that it doesn't look so "apocalyptic" or whatever. Fallout and Bioshock are the only FPSs I would be willing to give a chance because they usually have very decent plots and stories/settings. I will keep an eye on this.

"that dog looks fucking terrible"

basic non-hairworks wolves in witcher 3 look way, way better than that dog. hell, they look better than any character model in the trailer. dunno how anyone can defend that

But the dogs in Witcher 3 don't have hairworks.

But I agree, there is a big focus on the dog in the trailer and the dog doesn't look good.
I mean that's what a RTS is pulling :

I can't believe people are still discussing the graphics. I think it looks great. Certainly better than any Bethesda game before it. I'm beginning to question whether some of you have ever actually played a Bethesda game or are just joining the Fallout 4 hype train. They don't push the limits, the textures are often awful, and the animations are usually stiff and full of jank.(some of this stuff is actually part of the charm to be honest)

I'm just satisfied the game exists and Fallout 4 is an automatic contender for GOTY before it even comes out.

Blindly supporting a game/company, despite much needed critique, can lead to a continuation of lower standards.

Look. Morrowind is one of my favorite games ever, and FO3/NV are two of the more interesting games last gen, but seeing what has been released so far for 4 only hypes those who settle. Bethesda does not get a free ride just because they "don't push the limits, the textures are often awful, and the animations are usually stiff and full of jank".

I have no ill will towards Fallout 4, and I hope it turns out wonderful. But Bethesda's track record of letting the PC community finish their game is just an absurd business model.

So people are already compaining about the graphics? It`s time to realise that the new consoles isn`t really that much powerful, and that multiplatform open world games always will look decent on nextgen systems, rather than linear games like Driveclub or The Order 1886.
This doesnt look decent. It looks awful. Its very obviously a game that spent a crapload of time in cross-gen development in a crappy old as fuck engine , and now looks like a last gen game with better textures and IQ(while still having godawful IQ)

Go look at Witcher 3, a game made with a budget that's a really fucking tiny fraction of the one this has. Being multiplatform open world and "next gen consoles ain't much powerful" is a terrible excuse.

The thing about F3 was that it looked like the real world, but if something horrible had happened. The lighting, the atmosphere, everything was familiar, but disconcertingly 'off'.

This just looks like Ohio.

Fallout 3 looked like a piss, sickly green, soupy mess. I'm incredibly glad it doesn't look that.

Can't believe they are doing another vault dweller.... I just really hope obsidian gets a crack at this series again.

I doubt Obsidian will ever get another crack at Fallout (even with New Vegas outselling 3). I'm not certain they'd want to work with Bethesda again--even if given an option.

I mean I dunno if GMG would actually know anything but that heavily implies a 2015 release. Might be looking too far into it though.

I think Bethesda reveals their stuff pretty close to launch. I wouldn't be surprised if it came out this fall.

I can't wait for his baby to come to PC and mod the heck out of it!

I'll probably get it on PS4 first and then down the line I'll pick up the Steam version on sale.

I tend to go overboard with modding TES/FO games to the point where I either am just modding it and barely playing or I somehow end up breaking the game and quit.

even if this looks a hell of a lot better by release Gamebyro guarantees it'll look incredibly dated in like 6 months

good lord the idea of them maybe ditching it for this had me excited

Yeah I am more concerned about Bethesda not learning from New Vegas. We need a good amount of factions, RPG elements and shades of grey.

Not to mention the dialogue and writing. I would have gotten Chris Avellone as a consultant.

Witcher 3, Infamous SS, AC Unity, Far Cry 4, all open world games are miles better than F4.

While I found the game to be really vibrant, I just hope the creepiness and eeriness of FO3's desolate world is still there.

The vibrancy is a great way to make it feel like the 50s, I love that theme and want to see more of it, but I'm sure the game will have enough to add with it's creepy and scary level design.

Disappointing that it definitely seems cross gen. The release, the leaker, and the graphics definitely make it look cross gen.

I just hope the gameplay features are strong like in NV.

So, with women and gaming being a big deal these days, how pissed are people going to be that you can only play as a man?

What's the excuse? Voice acting= $$$, so budget cuts?
IF it's true, it sounds like they're trying to make it more character/story focused like the Witcher series. I really hope it's not true.

Witcher 3, Infamous SS, AC Unity, Far Cry 4, all open world games are miles better than F4.

I'm not saying Fallout 4 can't look better, but I can guarantee that Fallout 4 will be doing more on a moment to moment basis with its open world than any of those games. By several orders of magnitude. That comparison isn't quite fair.

Your first play through on PC will likely be fairly clean as it takes a while for mods to proliferate.

I imagine there will still be gloomy looking weather in the game. They are probably showing blue skies because its new. I doubt the whole game will be filled with sunny blue skies all the time.

Frankly I don't care about the consoles. There's no reason this shouldn't look better on pc.

Whether they put most of their efforts and resources into visuals or not, the PC community would still go unsatisfied and feel the need to "fix" what they don't like. The perfect game doesn't exist. A game of this size/scope is a huge investment. There is no way to make it look like Crysis 3 on every NPC and in every environment ON TOP of finding in fixing every possible bug. It's just unrealistic to think that it's possible. You'd be looking at a 7-10yr development cycle with budgets that look Destiny's for development alone.

My thoughts to, really don't know what some were expecting. One thing I never thought about fallout games was that it's pretty, just always OK looking. Maybe the PC versions of fallout 3 and New Vegas were miles infront of the console versions that I played so some people expect a lot better. Fuck it looks good enough for me, just can't wait to play it really are among the best games I have played despite there issues.
