It's messed up. FF used to be my absolute favorite series from SNES through PS2.
FFXII put a crack in the armor. I loved the gambits and offline mmo world exploration and combat. The story was bland and suffered though. After hearing that the main character was changed from Basch to Vaan, the story was supposed to be darker, and the guy heading the project left or was replaced mid development, I understand how the game's story and direction could fall short.
Then came FFXIII and ripped a huge ass hole in that FF armor.
The original release of FFXIV snuck me and held me in place for what was coming next.
Now the deathblow. Finally comes FFXV and its development trials and changes, seemingly here to finish off my enthusiasm for the series.
I hold out small hope for this game, because of the amazing turn around of FFXIV ARR that I hear about. But right now, FFXV reeks of a game that would have been canceled if it were any other name. And so much time, money, and effort has been put in it, so they may as well release it to help recoup a bit of the costs.
I don't want to naysay, but I'm keeping my expectations for this game in check. If SE is concerned that canceling this game to start fresh will do major damage to the FF name, then I hope they realize what releasing a stinker will do to it.
Exactly.
