Stella has been removed from FFXV; Itamuro writing game; Demo 2 June 9; FFXV not @ E3

Nomura should have been allowed to make the game he wanted. This is all very sad. I'm very concerned it's going to be a mediocre game in the end 😔😔

The biggest disappointment is that the whole 'road trip theme' seems to be the entirety of the game now; I loved the 2011 stuff and everything before that. And now they cut another female character or at least redesign her + give her an entirely new purpose.

Well Nomura said the same thing.

That the road trip and brotherhood were then main thing on there journey to get the crystal back.

This game sounds like such a mess. Given SE's track record lately, I won't be preordering and will just wait for a general consensus before deciding to get this or not.

Should've made this game episodic. Would've been over by now.

Final Fantasy XV : Episode Lestallum
Final Fantasy XV : Episode Niflheim
Final Fantasy XV : Episode Lucis
Final Fantasy XV : Episode Altissia
Final Fantasy XV : Episode Solheim
Final Fantasy XV : Episode Tenebrae

Dammit

Looking back on it now I'm also starting think the demo was a smokescreen to placate the rabid fans who were increasingly upset about the clusterfuck that is this game's development.

Really loved this artwork. Can't wait to see the new trailer at Gamescom.

The death of Noctis' father is gonna be tragic. I can feel it T_T

Well this is still kinda weird to me. Guess I'm not to used to the fact that a demo is getting an update especially when the main game is nowhere near complete.

I guess this kind of dedication should be praised.

Release a very early and unfinished build of a game as a smokescreen to conceal a game's development troubles? I don't follow...

And considering Nomura wrote Kingdom Hearts' "Chi-blade" nonsense, the new writer seems to have done fine in the demo.

Yeah, if the dialog writer for the demo is the same as the main game it should be all right. That was already better than the writing in the XIII games

well, I guess I've lost all hope.

I really liked the premise of Versus XIII, if we take all that out, then the current premise sounds like a fujoshi fanfiction.

"Not at E3", as in, not playable, or not in any capacity? Not even a new trailer? I mean SE has a goddamn conference, and they don't bring new stuff from their biggest game?

Yeah in the demo we didn't have anythign to the level of "Moms are tough". :p

Should've kept Nomura on the project then T_T
I've a feeling the game itself has changed a lot since Tabata took over. Oh well.

From memory, the demo was not mean to be released the way it did and was rushed...

And he is not wrong, is clear that the demos was a way to try to calm the fanbase and "show" that work was being done to the game and that it was going to release soon.

i Agree with everything you said about the past games (FFXII making me the saddest due to how damaging a simple protagonist change can be), but I still hold out hope for this game.

I mean, the game isn't out yet, and until it is there is still a chance it could be good. I know, our standards have dropped severely that we are just hoping for a "good" FF game. But after FFXIII and its sequels.... yep, just please be good.

Damn, this made me both chuckle and sad at the same time. To think we really are just hoping for a good FF game at this point. Gaf's younger, Squaresoft-spoiled selves would never believe this.

My understanding is most of the new stuff is what they wanted the demo to originally be but couldn't include because they rushed the demo out to release alongside Type-0, with a few extra things based on fan feedback on the side. I'm sure it was being done alongside the main game

It still doesn't explain the slight change in name and look. The story changed? So what?

Oh that. Yeah, I think she should have just keep her name Stella, her long hair look as well as the powerful female character outlook, but internally changed her role in the story.

They are just gonna show off Tomb Raider, Deus Ex and Just Cause 3

Maybe some of the localized stuff

Tabata said they had to change things so they can tell a complete story in one game, meaning they originally intended to have a sequel. Stella was probably used as a plot device to span those sequels. By the time they rewrote everything they probably figured it was better to make her a different character since they had to rewrite a lot of stuff that involved her.

1- completely removed everything that made us hyped the game years ago especially Stella

2- game will most likely have a bad writing

3- unlike versus13 we won't play the different characters with different gameplay style

4- the demo's gameplay mechanics are a mess ( especially the lock on system yikes) and it seems slower than what we have seen in versus13 gameplay trailer

the dream is dead and am not hyped for this game anymore

RIP prince : (

So... these are two different characters? Looks like she just tied her hair up...

tabata said that due the story changes they also had change stella...But instead of giving us a stella with a completely new personality/ they made a new character

so even tough they look similar they are completely different characters

Really disappointed that Nojima isn't the writer anymore. He was one of the main reasons I had hope for this game, since I love the stories of VII and X. Please don't let the writing be as trite as FFXIII.

This was always at the back of my mind as well. No offence to the Osaka team, but I really would've liked to see the original band get back together for the 3rd entry, asides from KH2FM's combat just being that much more superior to the later entries.

Having played through KH1.5 & KH2.5 recently, I was amazed at how much I enjoyed the level design in the first game compared to everything after. The run you can do through Traverse Town through the Gizmo Shop and across the roofs was a lot of fun. The locations in the later games just seems bland in comparison.

That's not to say I didn't enjoy some of the new additions to KH2 & BBS, but despite of it's clunkyness, the first KH game has a magic charm that felt a bit lacking in the other entries.

This may be nostalgia on my part though as I played a lot of the first game as my kids needed my help to get through it whereas they were vetrans by time KH2 came out.

Wait until gamescom when marketing for the game is about to begin with TGS to follow, E3 wasnt feasible for them at least their western counterpart told them straight up not to show anything if it isn't new since admittedly they wanted to show old footage. Besides the game is a year away anyway.
The fans were at the gates with torches lit. Demanding something, anything. Demo staved them off for a while. All speculation of course.

It's truth don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Sure, but... we never even knew what the old character's personality was =P Are people really upset about this? It's not like they're changing a character from an established and released game or story. Chances are it was a change for an improvement. Some people are acting like this is bad news?

That line isn't stupid in Japanese.

Then that's still a failure with the translation team. Look at what Square did with Vagrant Story and FFXII's translations. Those are examples of how to get it right. FFXIII is an example of how to... not do quite as well.

The localization of the FF13 throughout the board was subpar. "We wanted the names to sound less fantasy and more sci fi..."... Ugh.

I hope whoever is localizing it this time does a better job.

You are not alone. KH1 had great level design (even though some levels feel small now)

I think people liked how Stella seemed to be Noctis' rival or counterpoint. We've only seen Luna sitting in a chair looking worried, so hopefully she becomes more interesting the more we see of her.
