Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection announced, October 9th, UC4 MP beta access

Who in the fuck buys the Uncharted games for multiplayer? Seriously?? Anyone? The game is about the single player experience and I for one cherish the fact that Naughty Dog still gets that.
I really enjoyed Uncharted 2's coop mode. Yes, they are primarily single-player games, but the MP modes were not crappy tacked on shit that no one cared about, and it's a shame that they're missing from the collection.

I would have been interested if the coop was in. As it is now, I already played the 3 games already (played UC2 twice, even), so I have no reason to get this except maybe for the photo mode (lol). I'll add it to my Christmas list but I'm not hyped for this.

See when this was being rumored I wasn't going to get this. But now I so want this.

I've played Drake's Fortune several times, have only played 2 once and played 3 a few times. Yet I'm still hype to get back in.

Me. Because you know after the single player campaign is done the multiplayer is where the meat of the game is at. This shit is bordering on Nintendo levels of down play.
It's really not-- Uncharted is about the experience of the story, the multiplayer has always been a canned ham add-on that has never felt like it belonged. People pissy about it not being in this collection are all hot under the collar for no good reason.

They could just mean that it wont include both UC2 and UC3 Multipllayer but some kind of mix of them both or just one of them.
Hoping for UC2 Multiplayer and UC2 and UC3 coop.

EDIT Anyway since I have played all three already I will wait until they get cheaper.

I'm fine with no MP, but i'll wait for it to go down in price a bit, then.
Still very happy about it, can't wait to play Uncharted 2 in 60fps.

yeah and majority of them were ps2 games i.e. less work than doing a remaster of ps3/360 games.

with your logic, 3 snes games are equivalent to 3 ps3 games.

Older games diminish in value. The Jak and Daxter Collection would not be worth the same price today as it was a generation ago. There's a reason many people think SNES games are overpriced on Nintendo's VC even at $8 a pop.

Jak and Daxter HD Collection was $40.
Ratchet and Clank HD Collection was $40.
The Sly Collection was $40.
The God of War Saga was $40.
The Splinter Cell HD Collection was $40.
The Prince of Persia HD Collection was $40.
The Hitman HD Collection was $40.
The Tomb Raider HD Collection was $40.
The Devil May Cry HD Collection was $40.
The Infamous Collection was $40.
The Killzone Collection was $40.
The Resistance Collection was $40.
The Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection was $50 (5 games).
The Assassin's Creed: Ezio Trilogy Collection was $40.

There's a very obvious precedent for these sort of collections and people really aren't being unreasonable when they point out that this is overpriced.

Why is the ezio collection there?
isnt it just the 3 ezio games with all dlc in one case?

SP campaign wasn't broken for 8months. Stop spreading FUD

I'm sorry, I thought we were allowed to exaggerate a little in this thread. It was broken for six months, and it might have been fixed, but it's broken again just now.

Just think about that; they haven't got the game working properly that they sold for full price six months ago. You don't need to exaggerate to say that is a rip-off and a giant screw-up, no matter how much content they stuffed in your stocking. There is never going to be a game released as broken ever again.

Sure then it shouldn't be 60$ is all I am saying. Or maybe one the first game remastered or something. This is just 1080p/60fps bump.

It's more than that judging by the blogpost. It sounds to me like they're going to make some actual changes to each of the games because Bluepoint has been given access to the Uncharted engine as a whole. This means they could easily change UC1's gameplay to be more closer to the other games, for example. And UC3 could see some added things as well. But that's just my speculation/conjecture -- they said they have more to announce about what's different later.

I think, if they do that, plus all the other things they actually announced right now it's well worth $60.

Who in the fuck buys the Uncharted games for multiplayer? Seriously?? Anyone? The game is about the single player experience and I for one cherish the fact that Naughty Dog still gets that.

UC2's multiplayer was literally a masterwork upon release. Like Counter Strike 1.6 levels of classic. Simple, well balanced, fun, thrilling even if you lost

They made the modes worse and worse as the years went by, but Uncharted has still had good multiplayer since they first implemented it.

This wasn't even a question for me considering that Naughty Dog is my personal favorite studio and Uncharted has been my favorite franchise since the debut of Nathan Drake way back in yesteryear.

Blue point making it is just icing on the cake.

The Jak and Daxter games were written in a homebrewed Naughty Dog variant of the Lisp programming language called GOAL. It's a functional programming language (totally different paradigm than C++ and imperative langs) that's dead. Bluepoint reverse-engineered that.

Jax & Daxter collection was not by Bluepoint.

No, the piece was about all their remasters up until that point.

This one sources the piece, but the link to the original is dead:

But at what point did I say you shouldn't buy it? lol as a fan I myself will buy it but that doesnt change the fact that its a poor value compare to MCC.

Compared to MCC, at face value (forgetting it shipped broken and lingered broken for months+ = poor value) - Absolutely.

New comers should be getting the whole Uncharted Experience - SP, CO-OP and MP. I loved CO-OP, fun memories. I am in no rush to get it just for the campaigns even if down the line I would like to have the collection ($30-40 will do it for me). The U4 BETA is a nice incentive but chances are it'll have some type of access outside of it. If the U4 BETA is locked behind it (a dick move) it might be what pushes me to get it at $60. But I would have to consider rewarding such...

Wow... how dare people enjoy a well-designed game mode that gave longevity to the original games. You're right, what a bunch of clowns!

I'm just trying to illustrate that these trilogy compilations had a standard pricing, regardless of if they were current gen titles or remasters from the previous generation.

Porting PS2 games to PS3 was not really easy. I would argue in some cases harder than porting these games on PS4, since the PS3 had performance bottlenecks over the PS2 that required reworking in some games that could be quite complicated.

Awesome. Never owned a PS3 and will hopefully be getting a PS4 at the end of the year if finances allow me. No idea what ill play first on my PS4. This? TLoU? Witcher 3?

This art has UC4 Map?

UC2 got worse and worse over time. I remember jumping in thinking that right away this thing is doomed. Patch after patch after patch... and eventually free.... I never associated UC with MP. Co-op, now that's a different story.

To you maybe, but others have put hundreds of hours into them and view them as solid multiplayers. Certainly adds a lot of replay value to the games.

If there's no MP - and going by box art they're won't be - it's most likely because they want you focused on getting U4 for MP as well as the next SP campaign.its dissappointing but it makes sense for the Uncharted 4.

The fact you get Beta only strengthens need to focus to on that.

Bluepoint plus 1080/60fps says I'll probably double dip although I might wait for price to dip a little before dipping myself.

Me. Because you know after the single player campaign is done the multiplayer is where the meat of the game is at. This shit is bordering on Nintendo levels of down play.

I've bought all 3 Uncharted games and TLOU on the PS3, have never touched the MP component at all in any of them, have never felt the need to, like the MP in GTA4/5 or Tomb Raider, it all feels like it was tacked on to satisfy some need to prevent people from reselling their used games. I would have preferred they ditched the MP aspects of these games in favor of more SP content tbh. I'm no downplaying anything

If people are truly pissed that the MP stuff isn't included, they shouldn't buy the game, simple as that. Speak with your wallet. I'll be picking it up Day 1 because it's one of my top 3 franchises of last gen regardless of the MP, and I'm stoked to play through all 3 again at 1080/60 w/ new texture work in place.

Judging by TLoU: Remastered and specifically mentioning similar measures for the Uncharted Collection, you are in for a surprise.

Digital Foundry vs The Last of Us Remastered

Only thing is it's a different studio doing this collection, I don't think all 3 uncharteds are going to get the same love last of us remastered got.

Not even sure why bluepoint are getting so much hype, they haven't done anything that big in my opinion. Some ps2 games remastered for the PS3 and titanfsll on the 360 which was a mess.

WHAT?! Hahaha. You can't be serious. Thousands and thousands of people played the games' MP components every day for years. It was almost universally loved, feature-packed, and had lots of content.

Jak and Daxter HD Collection was $40.
Ratchet and Clank HD Collection was $40.
The Sly Collection was $40.
The God of War Saga was $40.

There's a very obvious precedent for these sort of collections and people really aren't being unreasonable when they point out that this is overpriced.

A lot of those collections are just games stuck into a bundle, not remasters and many of them are two games, not three. Why not add some more recent examples? GoW3 $40, TLoU $50, Borderlands $50, FFX/X2 $50, DS2 $60, DMC $40, SR4 $40, etc..

While I didn't even play the majority of those games, I'm guessing they didn't have cut content. To some, the MP is half of the game, heck even most of the game because it's what keeps them coming back. You can beat the campaign in a week but the MP kept a lot of people around for years.

Why the comparison with MCC all the time anyway?
Nintendo sold Mario 64 on 3DS at 40 bucks, and recently the zeldas also at 40 bucks each. The Last Of us remastered sold very well at I think 40 bucks. Price is not the issue. Dont forget this is also mainly targeted at people that never played Uncharted just like TLOU.

that does not change the cost to produce them.60 bucks for 3 last-gen games is reasonable, not overpriced. especially if it's the premier franchise of playstation.

people whining are the ones who just want to buy everything cheap and scream "anti-consumer" when 1) they're not forced to buy it and 2) it's not like they're charging so big a premium. if you can't afford 60 bucks, then buy it next year. you don't want to wait? then buy it now.

it's seriously a cycle that never ends. we want everything to be cheap, that doesn't mean we have to be unreasonable about it. people bought tlou for 60 bucks, i don't know why 3 uncharted games suddenly *should not* be 60 bucks no matter what.

and as many here have shown, it's not even close to being overpriced.

with every thread here in gaf recently there are just a lot of whiners. not those that have an opinion but those that just whine.

I'd love it if these remasters did something like make a few new cutscenes for stuff that happens between each game, even if they're just those shitty comic book style cutscenes. Then have an option to play through the whole "legacy" as one big campaign that is uninterrupted. So when you finish uncharted 1, it gives you a 5 minute cutscene talking about what happened to each character afterwards and then set up the events leading to uncharted 2.

I think that'd be super cool so it would feel like one massive game instead of 3 games in one box.

I think TLOU retailed at $50. With both of them being collections of huge franchises, comparisons were inevitable.
