Rhythm Tengoku The Best+ is releasing this week in JP and the guy who claimed the import OT seems to be banned. Not sure if he/she's returning in time.

Just a heads-up if someone wants to fill in. I'm too busy, unfortunately, but I would love to do the OT if the game gets localised. Will do the reservation once/if that happens.

Quick question about a movie-based OT. I have my Inside Out OT finished and ready for posting next Tuesday (as dictated in OT rules - a week before the earliest public premiere in the world). However, someone posted a Rottenwatch for the movie, obviously with intent of being where you talk about the movie on release. Since it's not an OT, do I still move forward posting the Inside Out OT on Tuesday or just toss it out? I don't know; this is the first time on GAF something like this has happened to me since I'm new.

I double-checked and Guardians of the Galaxy had both a Rottenwatch and an OT.

Go ahead.
A lot of games and movies have review threads prior to their release date/premiere
Once the OT is posted, all the discussion usually moves to that thread.
If it's possible, add a small "Review" section in your OT and include any new info you find about the movie.

Since it's your first OT, I wish you good luck :)

Noticed no one's done an OT for ABC's new show The Whispers so I went ahead and made one.

The Whispers |OT| by GavinUK86

While I'm here, I haven't seen anyone claim an OT for Dark Matter, the new SyFy show that starts the 12th June. So, uh, if no one has claimed it, I'll do it.

What do you guys think about having a separate OT thread for booking Off-Topic threads. That'll mostly be TV shows and Movies. Occasional album release threads, too.

Just thought I'd feel the room (err, thread) out on this idea.

Considering how long this thread has been going on and with no real issues of the topics combined, do not really see a need for another one honestly.

Alright, cool. Thank you for the quick replies :D

Speaking of the GOTG thread, posting Minus images doesn't seem to work on GAF (at least) anymore. I finally bit the bullet and went back to Imgur and emptied out my Minus account.

There were so many image assets on mine and Neoxon's GOTG thread that now doesn't work. Not that it matters since the thread is dead anyway.

I was wondering, since for the past 2 years we have had Nintendo schedule E3 thread, would it be suitable for me to create one. The usual OT's we have every year for E3 are an OT for each conference, your General Information OT, Amirox's news update OT, this one and other particular livestream ones (such as GT and Treehouse).

Here are the threads from past years:

2013: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=578852
2014: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=830158

I will also be happy to take the 'Spoiler Free E3 Thread' as I will be available to update it with all the conference links as they are archived.

Spoiler-Free E3 2015 Press Conference thread by Volotaire (3rd June 2015 )

I'll post it on the 10th June, 4 days before Bethesda. I'll try and add links to more popular reaction streams like Giantbomb too.
Sounds like a plan. Just notify BY2K about this so there are no mixups.

Photobucket is a good image hoster, though, isn't it? That's what I've been using before...

I remember it was banned for a while for whatever reason. While people complain a lot about it due to compression and other things, imgur is what Ive always used for mine.

That whole temp ban with photobucket is what got me to switch to imgur actually lol

What would be the best? My only issue with imgur is that it goes away after a month, right, account or not?

I like to wander back into old OTs or random threads and am sad due to the images being removed.

Dont think so? I used to have a paid account and now that its free everything still seems to be in my account which has 1,788 images in it. Oldest stuff I have dates back from like 2013 mid.

Not sure how the policy will change now that its free for everyone though.

Gah. Maybe I should bite the bullet and just pay for an account on imageshack?

Not sure have not used them, but I think I really should try to migrate things over or start to use a new service as I cant imagine that imgur is going to let me keep this massive library forever lol

Hopefully others will come into the thread to help you out with answers. Sorry I cant be of much more help than that D:

It's all good. Thanks for the help, though. :D

Imgur is a lot better and less of a mess now vs. Minus.

I used Imgur from a few years ago, then migrated to Minus because it had better features (no filesize cap, takes any files), but the service has gone to absolute crap recently. On top of having filesize caps, it doesn't take any other file formats than image files.

So do we know what's the deal with minus and NeoGAF?
It's a shame it no longer works for desktop. I used it in my OTs because it was the most popular image host at the time and now mine and a lot of other threads are empty spaces :/

Yeah, just not the imageshack ones.

Interesting.

So I guess imgur is the way to go.
Another vote for imgur here. The four OTs I've done in the past year all were imgur and all of them still function last time I checked. The only downside as has been mentioned is sometimes the compression. However, you're working with an OT and graphic design, and not something like high-res 4K screenshots, so I wouldn't worry too much about the compression aspect. I've got like 850 images in my account!

Sweet, more support for imgur.

Thanks guys!

As to the hosting question, Abload.de is another good one. Site's in German, but it doesn't compress and doesn't delete anything. My Skyrim threads from 2011 are still intact. I've hosted all the OT's I've made so far on there.

is that a game?

for games, you can only claim an OT if that game releases within the next year (roughly 12 months from when you make the request)

Nah, it's an initiative by Valve that fully releases this November. Big Picture Mode, SteamOS, Steam Controllers, Steam Link, and Steam Machines are all a part of the Steam Universe

Oh that stuff. Since it's set for November, it's at least totally fine time wise. There are general threads for non-game things like E3 topics so I don't see why you shouldn't get to do that for this coordinated thing, too.

What do the others say?

It shouldnt be an issue really.

If one is really unsure if its something that would be allowed to made into a thread also asking a mod works. (generally one that you think would be the most familiar with the subject material) And if they say ask the OT thread, which can happen, you should be good to go as am sure no one here would be opposed to that.

Are there specific rules regarding OT titles? I started working on the Uncharted Collection OT and the title seems a little redundant. A lot of people like "The Master Thief Collection" title but it looks weird (to me anyways).
UNCHARTED: The Nathan Drake Collection |OT| The Master Thief Collection.
Would it be okay to take out "The Nathan Drake Collection" and have it titled as posted below, or do I have to leave it because it's the actual game title?
Or would I have to change the subtitle to something like "The Master Thief Collection We've Always Wanted...."

I did read the rules for OTs in this thread but there's nothing about what it has to be exactly unless I misread or overlooked something.

Should be fine, its just generally done with the full name because thats what folks are used to. But yeah do not think there was any specific rule about it. Guess its because it has never been a problem in the past?

Nobody cares as long as it's not offensive. :)

You'll only get lynched if you pick a dumb title and the people hate it :D

just FYI, I'll be doing a spontaneous OT for Adventures of Pip since someone was asking for one (the game came out yesterday). I'll try to get it posted tomorrow.

you can do whatever you want for a title as long as it doesn't violate any forum rules

Aww hell yeah, this is awesome news! Thanks for the replies you guys! ^.^

As a long term project, I am thinking of creating an Economics OT. I was wondering if there would be any demand for it on this forum?

I don't think there is a set rule about this (?) but in this case, I think it's more than fine. When you use that title, everyone knows it is the Uncharted collection on PS4. No doubt about it. Looks better too.

I mean, there's a pretty big difference between your title and someone calling the next Assassin's Creed OT -> Tower Simulator |OT| Made by Ubisoft :P

Question. How large do people normally make their OT banners? I found a nice logo, but I think it would be too large for viewing.
