Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

ya'll know what fuck arowana mall on ranked, i fucking hate that map. it's the worst. i'm never playing another rotation with that thing.

i just spawned as the only fucking gun on a team of three rollers. three rollers! on fucking arowana! against a team of chargers and .96 gals!

and I still only came second in kills

I played that map like once on Ranked and decided never again.

As I've said before, it would be good if there were two splat zones on opposite sides of the central hill. But just having the one is a nightmare.

tried out the brush for the first time, i sucked with it but it was really interesting and i starting getting a feel for how to properly use it by the end of the match. Its gonna be neat to play around with it

(they should've called it "The Pablo" like in Japan, though)
shit thats a way better name

came to the same conclusion yesterday morning FUCK that map
idk what it is because sometimes it can be really fun but the third or fourth time it comes up in a rotation i start getting really annoyed. all the other maps i dig

I finally got B- on ranked after struggling some days in the C ranks. The trick is to play at night when there are fewer japanese guys, I went from struggling to maintain and sometimes loose my ranking to becoming #1 in almost all matches and winning almost every match :D So Turf Wars in the day and Ranked in the night for me.

I don't play it much (only b-) but I don't mind the mall in ranked.

What are you struggling with on the final boss jackano?

Disapointed the Pablo isn't the Pablo in FR version neither.

The way translations are done is starting to bother me a great deal this gen from Nintendo.
Language of voice acting can't be switched in-game in Smash, no language can't be changed in-game anywhere, Hyrule Warriors translation is terrible, unnecessary names changes in every game, etc...

On topic: Did a couple game with the Epinceau, definitely play differently but I will be back to shooters for ranked.

Now lv.20, I will play to grind gear and buy all the weapons. Oh and I have to finish the single player campaign but the hard final boss is bothering me.

decide to try inkbrush in ranked

get paired with two rollers against an e-litre, squelcher and dual squelcher on mall

well FUCKING done matchmaking

Gave the brush a couple of rounds this morning but sucked hard with it. Maybe I didn't give it a decent enough go, have seen some people online who do well with it. Sticking with the Aerospray RG I think, fits me like a glove at this point. Still vastly prefer Turf War to the ranked mode so far, I'll just stay at C- forever unless I like one of the future modes.

LOL! I had the same fucking thing happen and I was the only Charger. Then the next match was the infamous one I posted earlier where I was the only gun and we only had 3 folks because someone hard fucking turned off their game. Locked on the tally at the end but we played the whole set. I held off by camping the guardrails to the bottom left of the tower, but there was only so much I could do. It was a lost cause to even try to maintain a slight difference in scores before they just widened their lead to massive.

Folks scrub hard for rollers when they get oneshotted by one, but play them a few rounds and you quickly see that you cannot tank with them. Folks just back up and shoot or pincer you easily. If you are a roller you damn sure act as a reinforcer and pray you got splattershot backup or a charger laying you trails to hide in.

Yeah, I'm having trouble to learn all the names of weapons, maps and gears both in spanish (game language) and in english (to be able to communicate online in forums such as these). It would've been great to be able to select our language our choice. That said, the game in spanish is flawless but more originality in the names (specially in the maps) wouldn't have hurt.

The final boss isn't that hard, it gave me trouble in the beginning too but after you learn his patterns you can dominate him. Just stay calm, the fight isn't as fast-paced as it may seem (except the very last part).

amazing how people still can't handle the range of the splattershot pro, I just had a round where I legit kept the entire team at their base because they couldn't get past me

Splattershot Pro ftw. Its accuracy and range are godly. Even chargers are easy to deal with it.

Well I enjoyed the game much more than the demo would lead me to believe.
Still can only play a little and only 2 maps is sad (at least they get rotated).
However, Nintendo should be happy making the best new Nintendo IP since Pikmin.

So, how many abilities can you have? When you are in a match in only shows 3
You get 1 secondary ability per gear at the start. Do not know if you can get more the higher level you are...

Was finally able to find a copy of the game here in japan and picked it up. Still super early on but already feeling it. Looking forward to unlocking more in the game and learning more.

It's crazy how popular the game is in japan.

Good lord, Inkbrush is such an adrenaline rush. I'm doing consistently well with it, but getting so up close with enemies is quite stressful, haha.

So, how many abilities can you have? When you are in a match in only shows 3
It shows the three main ones but all the sub abilities are active. In fact sub abilities can only be ones that are always active. It is said about 3 sub abilities is equal to one main but I've not tested that.

Some of the exclusive to main abilities are only active some of the time and they glow when active (e.g. Opening Gambit which only works for the first 30s of a match). That is why it can be better to try and have clothes whose main abilities can't be sub abilities but it depends on if you need those skills (if you rarely super jump you don't know stealth jumps for example).

The only purpose of killing is to avoid the enemy from painting, so it won't net you points (except for the splash). Still, seeing a player rank first and have the highest kill count is not rare at all.
Kills don't earn you any points besides the ink that splats the ground when they die. How many kills is scores? What weapon are you using? You should also worry more about whether you win or not than where you are on the leaderboard.
Oh, so kills don't earn you any points whatsoever? I figured they'd just not give you as much. Bleh, I started aiming for people because I got bored of aiming at the floor trying to cover everything but I guess that's not an option.

I've been using the default weapon, the AR type gun and have had a go with the roller, since I tend to be covering everything possible. They're all fun to use, but I can only slather the same 2 maps in ink for so long before fatigue sets in. I'm not sure switching up my weapons would do much for me. Also, I'm not all that bothered by my position on the board per se, but placing low and losing feels crappy and placing low and winning makes me feel like I didn't contribute anything. It feels like I'm not doing much.

I'm holding out for the King of the Hill mode before I pass judgement. I think once the game has more variety I'll like it more but as it stands just now it feels very bare.

There are actually two modes now, but you need to be level 10 to play the other one. There are also six maps now.
6 maps and 2 modes with post launch updates. That's still very lacking. I don't like the idea that they're patching the rest of the game in post-launch. I know, business decisions and what have you, but I'd have preferred they delay the game and have everything in at once.

Just fought a match against 4 laggy rollers all using the Krak-on roller, and to top it off my team was fucking awful and were practically feeding them by walking into their rollers.

One guy got 16 kills because my team kept running into his roller and allowing him to use Kraken to kill the entire team. Just awful.

More than choosing the language, you have a point on the communicating online thing.
A game like Splatoon, heavily focusing on online and on its community, especially with a global matchmaking, should easu thing by using international names, like Booyah Base or Pablo.

NPD should be next week I think. Nintendo usually doesn't divulge any sales before then and when they do it tends to be whether something's a million seller worldwide.

Ah not much longer.

I have high hopes but I also know a lot of people were sitting on fence if podcasts are anything to go by.

With the content drip I can see this game having legs like mario game as more people feel its content matches the price.

I'm hoping they don't wait too much longer for that new game mode tower. It looks fun.

I'm gonna start this up today. I hope it can cheer me up after recent events.

Is there a list with people's Wii U id, so I can add you to my friend list?

I have been playing the brush exclusively and I consistently get over 1000-1300 in every match. I am at 8.0 HAWT! right now.
