Mackerel appropriately spreads out the capture points, so it's possible to make a come back. Blackbelly, once a team dominates and holds it down for 40 seconds, it's game over.
I agree with the cat and mouse thing, if the game is close between two teams. The back and forth can be really intense (sometimes to frustrating levels). But I usually see games in Blackbelly where one team just dominates, and it's just no fun at all (even if I'm winning).
....getting....burnt...out?
The talk about different game modes in here reminded me of the stupidest thing my brother and I came up with. What if there was a "race" mode where both teams had to designate racers and the rest of the teammates had to fuck up the other contestant's path to prevent them from winning? Teammates could only KO other teammates and same for contestants.
Edit: Ranked Blackbelly is literally Aerospray hop to the first square -> take over with team -> lay a mine -> shoot path up the large lookout/incline -> shoot ink into other square (other team notices/gets there right around here) -> kamikaze drop down into either a dramatic takedown or the barrel of some stupid powerful gun -> repeat.

Mall and Blackbelly are the same in ranked. Blackbelly just doubles the awfulness by splitting up the tiny piece of land into two spots, with a tower between them.

I would appreciate it if you guys could refer to the stages by the regular part of the name instead of the made up part. With Skatepark and Port I instantly know what map you're talking about, with Blackbelly and Walleye I need to visualize the game first to remember which name corresponds to which map.

Personally I don't, it feels like people massively overvalue Ninja Squid. The telltale signs that you're in the ink are so minor that people simply don't notice if you're not moving while in their clear line of sight or are in a contested area. Haven't found any shoes with Ninja Jump yet but I'll swap out my Ink Resistance ones when I find a pair since that skill loses its usefulness if you can just paint a path away at swim speed. Tempted by Tenacity as well, but the white goggles are too fresh for me to ditch them

IIRC your reticle still changes, even if they're hidden. It's how I deal with ninja squid.

Nathan here. Had to leave for dinner.
That port match was brutal though, only got 650-ish before the win bonus. Pretty shitty for the brush.

I feel a little dirty, but I do like the Inkbrush. Been spending to much time with the Splattershot Jr, kind of made me a one-trick squid, so, I am trying out new stuff. The NES Zap 85 is okay, Echolocator is fun to see where it's safe to go in enemy territory.
But the Inkbrush is my first weapon with a Sprinkler. That thing is mean, as I got thoroughly demonstrated to me in a Walleye Warehouse battle. Place it somewhere unseen and it'll create a nice circle of your color. Or place it in the way so the enemy has to destroy it. So many points worth of ink in Turf War just from one push of R. And Inkstrike is a known quantity. I use it like a fireball in fighting games. "This space is mine." Always fun to dump it on the enemy Super Jump Beacons, though.
So, yeah, I like the Inkbrush. I wonder what else I'll like. I really should find a charger-type that I like. Or some crazy weird weapon.

It's only a problem if they activate right as I'm about to kill them. I guess this is more of an issue because I used the brush though.
