Forza Motorsport 6 has "wet weather, 3D puddles and night races" + more

This sounds so good with the night and wet races, 24 players races... Can't wait for E3 !

BTW, we know that Smart Geometrics scanned Monza and Pacific Raceway so these might end up in the additional locals.

Hopefully, Suzuka is coming back, I miss it so much in Forza 5 !

Sure, but then there's no point in bringing up PCars as an example, when its design choices cause perfoemance that would be completely unacceptable in a Forza title. I appreciate Forza for what it doesn't do, as much as what it does.

This.

T10 gets ridiculed for 2D spectators, but they took the hit in order to maintain 60fps and 1080p.

I have utter and complete faith in T10.

The Alcantara suede is nice. Unit is portable and folds up rather easy which is why I got it. My main con is its a little on the narrow side. If you aren't a particularly slim fellow you may find it bit uncomfortable.

That is one sweet setup that you have.

Enjoy man :)

T10's dedication to a locked 60fps was terribly admirable. In a day and age where devs will speak wonders about 60fps, but then drop to 30 because EYE CANDY, They took the criticism on the jaw. No doubt Forza 6 will be a glorious upgrade but a repeat of their standards.

Wow, impressive feature list, especially given how most other devs have had trouble getting 1080/60 on XBO.

Look forward to seeing the game in motion.

Already? Is this franchise annualized at this point?

Gran Turismo: Original released in 1997, 6 games total

Forza: Original release in 2005, 8 games including this one

It's cool if core fans are down with the release schedule, but as someone who tapped out after the second iteration I don't think I would ever want to dive back in at this point. I don't think that enough would change in a racing game between iterations to merit another full price investment in such a short time and I wouldn't buy one that would have a dead online community in a year (or three) because everyone moved onto the newest release.

If you're going to include Horizon, why not include all the other side releases from GT? Let see... Hey there have been 14 GT games since 1998! That's almost annualized at this point.

Appreciate it. Just rigged up bass shaker underneath the seat about a month ago.

Made an unbelievable difference racing games. The vibration in Horizon 2 cross country races is bananas.

I would love to do that for my rig, but I won't because I don't want to be an ass to the apartment below me........... :(

Its a transducer so it dons't really make noise. If installed solidly to your chair with no rattling you would just feel (not hear) the vibrations.

Can't wait. I reckon this one will be the true showcase Sim for the Xbox One. The last being a launch title was always going to be a bit of a tall order, and probably not indicative of what Turn 10 can really muster on the console. On a side note, I have no idea what they mean by 3D puddles, but it certainly sounds interesting.

There was a rumor a while back that the guys Turn 10 rely on for track rendering also did a render for Monza. Hopefully that gets added in, along with most or all of the tracks from 4 that got cut (I just want Motegi and Sonoma to return, IMHO).

It was more than a rumour, it was posted on the official website of Monza autodrome that the track was being laser scanned by someone working for Microsoft..

By 3D puddles I would guess they mean puddles that each have their own physical properties and individually interact with other objects in the world. For example:

Or of course... It could just be PR bullshit. But I hope not.

Driveclub has very little going on in the physics department compared to Forza, is 30 FPS, and is on better hardware. Driveclub's focus is on visuals and simplicity, you can't expect graphics like that from Forza 6. I wouldn't even expect it to look as good as Horizon 2 but that's not a big deal considering all the other improvements listed in this thread.
Yup. It'll still look lovely at 60fps if they get the framerate welded shut like FM5, some details will be lost but they've checked the most important boxes when comparing the game to other racers. We all know the console warriors will find something meaningless to complain about for the next 2 years until the next game is out but I expect the rest of us to be more than pleased when it's finally shown off for real. Can't wait to see this beast in motion! :D

Those side games in GT are glorified demos. Unless your counting tourist trophey.

Edit: There's nothing wrong with GT release schedules, we got two gt games on ps3 which is perfectly fine.

The lighting in FM5 is in the "good enough" category. Not mind blowing by any means but it's solid enough and gets the job done. If they can improve on that slightly while adding weather, TOD and 3D puddles™ then we will be in for a treat. Especially at 60
or 50
fps.

Re the hardware overload during ToD and weather, maybe these are for time trials only?
assuming any of this is true

Sorry to go offtopic but honestly, when they are that far apart without being there early on it would probably be smarter to just release one game per generation and deliver awesome dlc until the next one. Lots of people never bought GT6 because next gen had already started. Awesome game and content, but it came out way too late. And even after all those years, with the obsession to check some next gen boxes (1080p/60fps), it still managed to look rushed. :/
Should've been the first game to get a PS4 remaster, but now it'll be too late, yet again, since people has started to become annoyed at the remasters.

Edit: On topic, looking at the screen comparisons makes me want to play some FM5 again, it really is one beast of a launch game, I believe it's still the only 1080p@locked 60fps racer this generation, pretty amazing really :)

Fuck this noise, the game will look fine. Whether dynamic or static, some form of weather and time of day is infinitely better than what we've had to date, and given Turn 10's track record, (sorry), on performance, it'll run smooth as shit out of a blender, and if Porsche really is back in FM6, the game could look like goddamn Pole Position for all I care.

You know what I want beyond anything else...

Customisable race lengths in career modes with the options for pit stops and qualifying. If we still have those terrible 2 lap blast your way to the front races weather and night races will be pretty meaningless in the grand scheme of things.

Rio? Awesome. Really hope the epic rally do positano returns. I played the hell out of that and even got a top 100 time with the Clio cup car stock (which wasn't even at the top of its pi for its class!)

And why does this need to be discussed in a forza thread?

It's definitely Sebring's pit lane, the double window on the watchtower and chevrolet billboard.

lol at Helios playing it cool and keeping it quiet..

C'mon mate, throw us a freak'n bone here!

At least tell me whether Nick Wiswell has something special lined up....Wisweeeeellll!!

baked lighting in 2015 when even open world games have dynamic tod and weather.

it's their 6th mainline game. that's more than a decade of dev time. can't believe people have been okay and understanding about it for the longest time.

I hope they bring back Motegi and add Sepang and Atlanta Motor Speedway, and that the Ferrari F355 Challenge is back on the car roster. :-)

We don't know if lighting is baked in FM6. From the screenshots it looks identical to FH2 which is dynamic.

So 2 or 3 like I thought. Nice to have but not really necessary when, as I said, the extra horsepower can be used elsewhere, especially when there isn't a great deal to begin with. I'm just speculating anyway, it may have actual dynamic lighting.

And I have experienced it, I've been playing PC since the early 90's and used to be a sim nutcase!

The 24 Hours of LeMans, the 24 Hours of Daytona, and the 12 Hours of Sebring are more or less THE Triple Crown of Motorsports Endurance Racing. You don't get bigger events then that when it comes to Endurance events in regard to racing.

There will be other smaller events, but to include Endurance racing and say the major three isn't something necessary baffles me, especially from the perspective of someone who played the realistic PC racing Sims.

My post was in reference to the discussion that was going on in the posts before mine regarding how the game looked at face value.

I'm in agreement with what you are saying BTW, just ask FordGTguy ;) . I've been disagreeing with people who have made excuses on behalf of turn 10 for the lack of weather/dynamic TOD for the longest time.

Sounds like it's still baked from the descriptions, otherwise they'd PR dynamic time of day instead of just "night races". The rain effects/droplets on the car look similar to FH2 though.

He meant that the lighting does look pretty damn realistic in that Forza Motorsport 5 shot, and I concur.

Still looks a bit cartoony to me. It's just baffling that a lastgen game can still easily beat a currentgen one.

GT7 is gonna outright murder every other racer when it comes to graphics.

I'd say we wait for clarification at E3. Having several pre baked light maps for each track would blow up the file size exponentially and Forza 5 is already 40 gigs, so it doesn't sound like a realistic scenario.

Only wet weather?

I guess that's something, but come on...other racers now have full weather cycles, you can't just pretend that rain alone will cut it.

In any case, I hope it's a damn sight better than it was in Horizon 2. I'm expecting something on par with or exceeding the rain in DC.

There's a racing game comparison thread for those who want to get into that snakepit of bullshit. Please keep that out of here.

You prefer the look of gt, nothing wrong with that. I doubt they will change their art direction and you won't stop posting screenshots to prove your point. Still I say let's wait for actual gameplay footage.
