It's just not old ass memes any more;

The Miiverse now promotes terrible anime.

Again, names have been Ika'd to protect the 'innocent'.

Edit - Also, level 20 and Rank B with 1 star headgear and no additional slots? C'mon son squid.

Can you make teams with friends in ranked?

Sick of playing with mouthbreathers that spend half the match painting the south platform on Saltspray.

Nope. There won't be anything till August, in terms of Matchmaking with friends. Right now it's just 100% random luck with who you get teamed with. Best advice? If you lose more than twice (or lose really bad once)...back out of the lobby after the game. Try again. Hope for a better team. If it happens again, back out, wait 5 min (this isn't 100% necessary, but might calm the frustration)...then try again.

Once you get a good team, then just hope you can take that to a winning streak.

Go up the ranks and you won't have to.

I have to say I think chargers in ranked are the most win more/lose more weapon. They're really good when you have a foothold but terrible without.

No see it's actually a good idea to let silly squids battle it out for the south while you just waltz over and take the larger north platform with no resistance.

It's kind of a nasty cycle though, isn't it? It's like, lower ranked players can be really awful. But you have to win, in order to get to a better Rank. But it's hard, because you are low ranked and have a decent change of getting paired with awful players. But you have to win, to not play with these awful players (while also playing awful players). It's a hard pit to climb out of.

Also, I was at B-, and I still saw some pretty awful people playing. But I do imagine, B to A is probably more even matches, as almost all the players have to be somewhat competent.

Chargers can generally just hold what it has. It can't really gain more of anything without support. I was big on em when I started but that was largely due to its utility in the Warehouse level I first played. Solid mid tier is how I see em unless you got dat Echo variant and ninja squid rockin hard.

I'm talking about ranked. The only reason to take south is to charge your special. Which is no help compared to helping with the north.

I think I'm at home with the Inkbrush, it feels like the weapon that's clicked with me the most even if a bad match with the thing feels pretty grim.
I was dubious about taking the thing into ranked, I find it great for turfwar but I doubted its usability in ranked.
Well it's not as reliable as sticking with the safe aerospray but man when it works the inkbrush can be a blast in ranked.
I was killing with it at C+, then moved up to B- and well lets say my good run came to an abrupt end.

Still want to stick with this though, just need to figure what skills are best for it.

That's why the ranking system works. If you're not much better than the average player at your rank, you're not moving up.

I disagree (sort of). You can be amazing, and get paired with a really bad team. It doesn't always work. You can't always carry your entire team. At a certain point, luck does come in.
I always think of it as I have to carry my team, whether or not I am paired up with a good team. I find it that in B+ so far everyone knows what they are doing, as they should if they got this far. So I strive for my best. Of course you can't always win

I actually agree with you in the upper tier B to A. Yeah, it's a barrier, and only above average can make it to those levels. It weeds em out. I agree. I still think the Rank system can be problematic, if you are someone trying to climb out of the lower ranks, and you are having trouble with the teams you get paired with.

You may lose 40% of the matches, but on average you will move up,.

I completely disagree. More often than not, I have been paired with teammates that don't know what they are doing, or will just sit out of the match entirely & will do jack squat.

It's equal parts frustrating & aggravating.

I see your guys point. My perspective was a little different, but I can see where you are coming from.

I hate to say this, but you're not carrying your teams enough then. Those people appear on the other team as well unless you think matchmaking is rigged.

So there's a community Splatoon on Facebook with TS group... I'm glad there's no voice chat in this game, some kids are really annoying on that group.

This is unavoidable, but would you rather be team up with people of your rank or just random, and see a bunch of C that just started the game

Yep. Again, my experience yesterday. I killed the entire enemy team myself, and they still refused to capture points (even though we were losing). It's insanity. How do these people get to this rank to begin with?

I'm really at a loss for words, how so many people don't understand how to win Splat Zones. And honestly, I feel like I'm always the only one putting in effort at capturing zones. Even in matches that are more close, I'll see the enemy team die, and I'll see teammates just sitting there. It's like HELLO...fuckin pain the zone. Are you stupid. They should be using every second the enemy isn't there, to capture that zone.
It's becoming clear that the ranking system as is is just not enough to accurately group players by general skill. With the +30 buffer you "only" need to win 7 games to rank up, and there's just 9 ranks in total of which you can more or less disregard the C ranks which almost anyone with some turf war experience can streak through. It's very easy for someone to get carried to a higher rank than they should be at by getting lucky in a dozen games. Sure, eventually they'll fall again but someone else will have taken their place for a day or two. Such a limited ranking range keeps the skill level at mid to higher ranks in constant flux because no one but the absolute top tier players duking it out at A+ will ever really settle at their appropriate rank.

Now compare this to a system like Dota 2's where you gain/lose 25 MMR points per match over an effective range of 5k~6k. That's a whole nother league of accuracy.

Can you make teams with friends in ranked?
That would be nice wouldn't it

I guess.

I'm already moving up to B, so I guess I don't disagree with you. I just, think the lower rank stuff can be problematic. (You have to win to stop playing with bad players, while playing with bad players). It can be really tough to get out of that pit. All I'm saying.

I was almost out of C Rank but got teamed up with disconnectors and people playing with their feet match after match until I was dragged back down from C+ to the pits of C- despair.

Now I am back with the bottom feeders.

lol, why should anyone have to carry their team at all?

I know, right? You can't be everywhere at once. And there is only so much you can do. The idea that, it's all your fault for not winning when your team is incompetent. I really don't get that mentality. I understand that, you can always be a better player. And in it's easy to "blame" other people for losing. But at the same time, sometimes you just get paired off with really bad players. And that is pretty common at the lower ranks.

SAO ain't too bad

Oh god, me and my friend watched Season 1 earlier in the year and since then, me and her are prone to saying "Taco-Kun!" often because of the 2nd Ending Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ng03pmOjdf8

Best part of each episode
...because the other parts of the episodes were incestual BS which had no place in my eyesockets.

Actually, the best parts of most Anime I watch is the songs at the start and end...the rest is fluff. :P

lol, why should anyone have to carry their team at all?

Because you want to move up the ranks. You're better than the average person in your rank. If you are better than the average person in your rank then you are in fact carrying your teams most of the time.

That's the mindset you should always have. You have no control of who you get paired up with

Def the mindset I have every game. Doesn't always pan out though. Depends on the map (some are harder to carry than others).

Anyways, I guess I'll agree with the idea that, if you are really good, you should still be moving up slowly anyways despite the awful losing streak you can have (due to bad teammates). Even if you keep getting bad teams, you should be moving up slowly. I can't wait to get to B to B + ranked. I want more even matches!

It's not what you put on the spoiler tag

OH and I love the openings

I do my part & support my team anyway I can, from providing cover to laying down traps. In the last match, I had to defend both areas & had killed 21 squids & had only died once. But we still lost, all because of these two dorks not doing anything and we're just firing at the ground.

Everyone will get those kind of matches.

I played Splat Zones all night. Wow! I'm really hooked on this mode now that I better understand how the scoring works.

It also has some unique colors. Like check out my hair after one match. That's not just fresh — it's minty fresh!

Hatsune Miku fresh?

With clothing items, are the unlockable attributes predetermined, or are they randomly selected upon leveling the item? If it's random, is there a way to reset the attributes, or collect identical looking clothing items? Basically, I don't like the idea of collecting items I like the look of, only to be stuck with attributes I don't care for, and I'm wondering if there's a way around that.

Also, what level do you start getting three star clothing items in the stores?

Splatoon is a really fun game, if you are getting angry and ruining your experience over a rank you are doing it wrong, in my opinion.

Yes, but I want to go up in rank. Not be permanently stuck at a C+ Rank, all because I have mostly been paired with a bunch of clowns that are being bad on purpose.

Like I said, those clowns appear on both teams. The only thing in common with the games you played are you.
