Forza Motorsport 6 has "wet weather, 3D puddles and night races" + more

I read the whole thread and WTF

Some really embarassing things here. But I guess I was like that as well 10 years ago..

Great news, not only for Forza, but for the genre in general

More driving games developing engines that can handle variety of racing is important fpr setting the standards. More options is always welcome.

Looking forward seeing it in action in a week. E3 reveal is a certainty.

If MS decide to lower the XO price in Europe for holidays maybe I will finally bite.

I've always wanted to try Forza, I love car games, but not enough to justify having a third gaming console/system at this point in time. The girlfriend would kill me.

Any chance that they could get Monaco?
As erale said laserscanning it could be very, very hard, but it's a public road so it doesn't require a license to develop. Never been a massive fan of it myself though so I'd rather take some of the older tracks back or see Imola included. We'll see though, I wouldn't be massively surprised to see Monaco in, but you never know what's going to happen.

Sigh.

I bought a PS4 at launch—it's the system that made the most sense for me—knowing that I would miss Forza so, so much. Forza is the only Microsoft-exclusive series that interests me.

But the early word on Forza 6 is weakening my resolve to save money. I miss it.

I find that graphics discussion rather funny. Since when are graphical features the most important thing in racing games?

I doubt many of the folks arguing and dick waving even play these games very much. They'll spend all this time arguing about 2D v 3D crowds as part of their console insecurity and not be aware that during a race these crowds are a blur anyway,

They'll claim they want all kinds of graphical niceties and I hope developers don't listen, because those of us that actually play these games would prefer 1080p60 locked down than non-essentials such as crowds, 3D grass etc.

Anymore leaks lol?

Only this night-time screenshot of the Porsche in the rain on the New York track that appeared briefly on the official Japanese Xbox site, but we're waiting for something to get properly excited about.

2D crowds are just cheap imo. and while 3D low poly don't look great, at least they usually MOVE. i don't get how PGR on 360 managed it with crowds that actually reacted to nearby barrier collisions, and yet forza 5's next gen debut couldn't. the only time 2D crowds are ok are miles off in the distance or something where they can give you the impression of a large crowd without being able to see that they're just cardboard cut-outs.

I'd rather they use resources elsewhere to be honest.

It's cheap, yeah, but besides that, it doesn't really affect visuals.

I remember when pics were posted, most people who owned FM5 had to boot the game and check for themselves in photomode or driving very slowly near the barriers, because it's just not visible during the race.

I always thought devs should prioritize the overall visual fidelity over single elements: case in point, i think Polyphony absolutely should keep using sprites and cardboard trees (especially in the distance) with photographs plastered on them, because at a glance and while racing they look real; modeled 3d trees will never look as convincing.
That is, unless they plan to have them sway in the wind.

Love for them to bring back New York. That at night in the rain would be bliss.

This +1

Especially if its the proper New York from FM1 (the long layout) rather than the shorter layout only in FM2/3. Considering Rio is coming back, New York should 100% be on the cards as it would play into the whole 10 years of Forza - adding in legacy tracks from the first game.

Tokyo, Fujimi, Camino, Maple Valley would all be great to return aswell, but I doubt we'll get all of them at launch atleast. Im expecting Monza and Pacific Raceways to be almost definite, after the smartgeometrics leak and the whole Monza web page saying 'microsoft employees have scanned the track', so that only leaves 5 remaining.

Im hoping they add atleast 3 tracks for DLC like in FM5, they were well received in FM5 and it would be silly not to continue that and I wouldn't even mind if they weren't free!

We drive on the left though, the cars are all parked as if they were driving on the right.

Already confirmed as a translation error, it will be 60fps.

Also the cars aren't really like those that you find in NYC, plus do you even get British Victorian architecture in the NYC as they certainly aren't Brownstones, oh and also the licence plate isn't a US one. I may be totally wrong but if correct then the cars are parked the wrong way and the road markings are incorrect.

This is a real shot from the game? My God I am floored. As a racing fan I feel utterly spoiled at all the awesome racing games coming out and already available to play.

I always thought the NYC representation in Forza was a bit limited, though. I'd much prefer a larger area with more routes a la PGR.

But much to ask, mind.

That night time shot is a real photo, not in game.

Why is it think some people are purposely over hyping this to try and make people disappointed when the actual announcement comes?

The trolling strategy has changed.

If you can't discredit something - overhype it to create the illusion of disappointment when the game is fully revealed.

Relly good news. Cant wait for E3.

I hope rhey change career because in FM5 it was really bad. Something like in PGR would be cool.

And again I hope they add "Factory" setting for assists. So we can drive cars as they were.

and MS bring back that U shaped air wheel. It was perfect for us who dont want the full wheel setup.
I converted at least 3 friends to Forza (4) fans thanks to that wheel.

tbh if the game doesnt have day/night transitions and it is indeed pre-baked times of day i'll already be pretty dissapointed. but i'm sure it will.

This can't be in-game?

a big problem for me in racers is that as graphics have improved cars have looked more and more real, but the environments take a bit of a back seat. driveclub changed that for me. it was a very consistent looking game. no element felt like it recieved less time or care. the cars looked amazing, but so did the environments, lighting and weather. i'm hoping forza 6 can achieve the same thing becasue for me, forza 5 didn't.

EDIT: and that goes double for GT7. seriously. if that has tracks or cars ripped straight from GT4 still i won't be happy.

Forza6 graphics should be quite better than Forza5.

There's no kinect + better sdk + directx12 and it is not a launch title.

All of these should help to achieve better graphics

I'm containing my hype levels until I see retail, The Forza 5 bait and switch was unacceptable regardless of the final retail outcome.

Downgrade has become a very popular word among those that don't understand game development.

Especially when the downgrade was based on blurry images of the e3 version and the final game. I have seen much worse downgrades, too. Doesn't make F5 better but I think the downgrade-shouting masses came to a time where everything xbox related was drawn to bad opinions, no matter if true or not.

I hope DX12 on XB1 will be ready for the Forza 6 launch in October. It seems Windows 10 on XB1 will take some more time to release...
