Microsoft announces new Xbox One 1TB console; new controller

Errr, unless the new Xbox One controller transmits data at a different frequency? Why would it not support the old controller...

Sorry

I thought you ment the Xbox 360 controller :-)

I read your post too fast ... ;-)

Of course it will support the "old" Xbox One controller.

I'm just hopeful that they've fixed the controller cutting out and disconnecting.

Drives me absolutely bonkers!

Not that I know of. Plus that controller price...yikes

There's been tons of demand for more storage and for better bumpers on the controller. Controller price is normal. Special editions get MSRPed to 65 dollars. Both PS4 and XB1 regular controllers are 59.99 MSRP but Amazon routinely knocks them down to 49.99.

This "upgrade" to storage space and new controller makes it a little bit tempting for me to get the new Xbox One, however...

... let's see what Sony' counter-offer is going to be.

So when I use the new controller with a PC over the dongle, can I use a headset for voice communications with my favorite programs and games? Otherwise I will just pick up a dongle or 2.

I guess it will have to work with the Xbone > PC win 10 streaming app, but I wonder will the driver make the audio input look like a mic in?

I wouldn´t count on it ...

I'm 100% sure they didn't change the way it connects because the new controller will have to be compatible with the original XB1 as well as the new one so the signals should be identical. Both controllers will work with the dongle.

This makes more sense. :)

Assuming 360 & Xbone controllers run on different frequencies then 360 controllers wouldn't work.

In which case, I'm curious if it will be possible to run the old wireless adapter & a new one at the same time in order to use 360 & Xbone controllers simultaneously. Assuming the new Xbone wi-fi adapter drivers do not over-write the old 360 wi-fi adapter drivers then it should be possible...

I dont have issues with the bumpers, whats wrong with them?

A lot of people don't use them as they're designed. If you use them properly, you're only hitting the outer portion of the bumper with the middle of the finger that's currently using the trigger. It's a brilliant design that allows you to hit both the bumper and the trigger at the same time with the same finger, but a lot of people on 360 got used to hitting the bumpers at the top of the bumper with the tips of their fingers. MS made hitting the bumper there very difficult on the XB1 controller.

That sucks!

Gonna have to go with this then for my Halo fix.

Yea, I mean with all the bundles that Sony already has (Batman bundle coming out after E3, MGS one in September), and this new announcement from Xbox for 1TB model, there's no way a redesign is at this E3.

Finally that Wireless Windows adapter, I was waiting for it!
But where's my white controller stand-alone? I want that..

Fuck sake, "more consistent performance anywhere along the full surface of bumper"

Everything about being an Xbone early adopter is like being consistently shafted. Got 2 of the old pads.

I have multiples of the original, but this change is for the best. No reason to stick with a poor design if you can improve it based on customer feedback.

Electronics always get better versions. It's always a gamble improvements will be made.

Same with the DS4. I just bought a new one and they quietly fixed some annoyances I had with my launch ones. Mushy share/options buttons and, sticky shoulder buttons on the launch ones, but the new one has much better feeling buttons. Share/options being much clicker alone made a huge difference. Shame they weren't better from the start, but at least the options are better now.

Now gimme that mini Xbox 360.

Nice. I am fine with the first model and my external drive for now, but I may get this one down the road as well. I'll be grabbing another controller for sure. Probably in camo.

just found out they are selling the kinect-less version for around $285 here in Norway. I might need to jump on that and just get the new controller once it's out

Might have to jump on the new controller. At the end of the day it's another option/SKU for people who want more space. Seems like a good move to me.

If the impressions of the new bumpers are good, then I'll probably pick up the new controller...and if I like the way the bumpers feel then I'll sell my "old" Xbox One controller.

As for the PC adapter...day one.

nothing, It's selling very well at it's current state. I mean VERY WELL. There is no reason to reduce it's price and reduce profits when they have no reason to.

MS isn't going to sell 15 mill + in 6 months and pass Sony. Their lead is outstanding. That is just my opinion though.

However, if they did drop the price. They would sell 1.8 more units a week than now. That's just a really rough guess and i have no idea how statistics work :P

That extra 500 GB cost them a nickel, and they raised the price $50? Should have maintained $350 with the terabyte.

...and most of our brand new Cell phones really only cost like $40-$120 to manufacture..yet we pay $400-$800 for the latest and greatest.

Nothing you can do but not buy it.

OT...glad to see a larger option.

Well then, all of a sudden XB1 is the undisputed best controller ever made in my eyes.

I loved the old XB1 controller but the bumpers were quite bad. It was awful playing Saints Row 4 with that controller... You have to hold LB to run and it would be uncomfortable to do so.

Everything else was an improvement over 360... The sticks (with better grips), the rumble, triggers, and overall ergonomic feel.

I am going to ask if I can buy my Aunts xbox day one edition as its never used. If not I will grab this 1TB model late summer.

Price drop down to $350 for 500gb. Pachter strikes again.

Wonder if the sales at $400 will be the same? And how long the 500gb will be available?

Fixed bumpers sounds good though.

So is that the quickest to" Oppposite of what Pacther says" ever?
It's fun to hate on pachter, but the xb1 has sold for this price for 8 months. I dont think this really qualifies as a price drop.

Well that "new" pricing doesn't really change much. How long has it been widely available at that price again? Since before Christmas with just a 2 weeks period back to 399 early this year?

.
They had to make it official some time.

so off topic:

^Truth. And now carriers are having customers pay full MSRP of the phone via pay to own programs lol. I'd rather have a 2 year 350 etf instead of a monthly bill of 2 years that equals 899. Sprint is leasing so idk those details.

Yet this is what the consumers wanted thanks to t-mobile un-carrier no-contract
LMFAO
marketing brainwashing. Oh well, all the carriers are laughing to the bank! bwaahaha

Yeah, pretty much feel the same. Very happy about the changes.

Making it harder, MS. You improve the bumpers and add a 3.5mm jack so that $25 dongle isn't necessary, but you make it cost more and it STILL requires batteries to be changed?

I kind of regret pre-ordering the Steam controller now.

Then cancel the pre-order and get the one you want / need.

For me, the Xbox One controller still isn't going to let me play hundreds of the games I like to play since they are either mouse & keyboard driven or work far better with a mouse. Yet it still has the possibility (till I actually use the thing) to work with the others that a traditional controller is great for. Should it be shit with some games, I'll be getting the new Xbox One controller as well.

think I'll buy a new controller next month to see how the bumpers are, maybe I'll just wait to get a dongle bundle.

I hope I can still use the headphone adapter on the new controller, though. I love having the big mute button and the volume buttons too.

if it still uses AAs then that makes me happy
