Ratchet and Clank (PS4) - First Trailer [Up: 8 minutes of gameplay, $40]

Same graphics, same weapon wheel, but the gameplay itself is underwhelming compared to the madness you see in SO.

You do know Sunset Overdrive wouldn't exist without Ratchet and clank right? They took what they learned making ratchet and clank in-terms of animation, platforming, color pallet, and shooting.

Sunset Wouldn't exist without Ratchet and clank.

Go drive by post somewhere else.

And I too wish we had a Resistance 4 :(.

I'm going to be so annoyed if the Sony conference has an update on Powers. They better film that 2 hours to the brim with the good stuff.

Look at this. A total of 15 minutes or so of footage that could have shown up during the conference and excited everyone and they forfeited it up early.

Sarcasm, man.

Pretty sure that was a joke.

I'm 80% sure that was sarcasm.

joke

Sometimes I can't tell with people on gaf.. Oh well

As someone who has not played the first Ratchet game, can anyone comment on the music?

There's some really nice orchestral stuff happening around 3:10 of the gameplay video and I'm curious whether that's all new, re-recorded, remastered, etc.

Thanks!

I haven't played Ratchet and Clank since the good ol' PS2 days but this looks freaking amazing.

I'll admit to have fallen off colourful AAA platformers (which barely exist) but this looked stellar.

Like, Pixar levels of visual quality and fun.

People who keep asking this must not know the original R&C too well themselves. While a lot of the planets we've seen are reimagined versions of the old ones, the layout and design from what we've seen has been different, and we've seen different weapons. A lot of those planets I don't even directly recognize from the first game. I caught Metropolis, (of course) Novalis, Veldin, Hoven, and Blackwater City. There was no ship section on Metropolis, and snippet of the clank section we saw is different from the original clank sections.

I meant gameplay wise, it's the same game. I didn't realize it was just a remake. Looks fantastic though.

Gah, I'm so happy!!!

But, if I may rant for a moment, the weapon creativity has seriously disappaited. Mr. zurkon, the Groovitron, and the combuster have been in 6+ games... Can we get new ones?

Looks great! Shame it's Sring 2016 instead of Xmas though. I could have gotten my wife on board buying it "for the kids" :)

Looks like Sony is feeling mighty confident in their E3 presser to have that out a week early ...

I wonder if E3 will adapt or if it will become sort of an outdated beast that costs companies a metric shit ton of money to put on.

The fact that we're getting so many official releases a week ahead instead of leaks is pretty telling that companies are no longer reliant on the main conferences.
Eh, many of these announcements are made to get out ahead of the crowd and not get lost in the noise when E3 and the conferences are underway. There will be a lot of things on show.

The image quality during the gameplay, and of course the Gamersyde trailer, was fantastic! The weapons shown in the latter half of the youtube video was great!

Why should they? Their transition into realistic games has turned them into one of the most successful and respected studios on the planet, there's no point looking backwards.

Cartoony games aren't a step back from realistic ones, they're just two different styles. Pixar didn't turn into the most respected CG studio by trying to make Indiana Jones with CGI.

I think it's half and half; it's following the same story and general levels from the first game, adapting bits from the movie, throwing some of the stuff from the later games (weapons levels) and putting even more original stuff in.

It's a great deal for us; one heck of a trip down memory's lane while being a fresh experience.

That sounds great!

Lol what, no I'm not. Sure there are some graphical things the PS3 couldn't achieve, but there is absolutely nothing on display that justifies a lower framerate.

You said A Crack in Time looks just as good. It definitely does not. Lighting, textures, effects, etc.

I'll be honest, I didn't think this would look all that good, but oh my god it does. It's like someone said to someone else, "Hey, let's take one of the games this guy loved as a kid, turn it into a Pixar movie, and then sell it back to him". I wasn't gonna be there for day one, but that has just changed drastically.

Oh, no doubt about that. I'm just curious if in the coming years the format of E3 might get shaken up a bit.
