And I am one of the people that said that for Bloodborne, as well as one of the people saying it here. It being a separate thing in Bloodborne didn't stop it from being the worst part of the game. It's not that you can't make a good randomly generated thing, it's just that it is less then likely when it is just an addon and not the focus of the game. Rogue Legacy and Spelunky are great. They are full games designed around the special functions of being randomly generated with systems in place for it. The chalice dungeons in Bloodborne were awful and a waste of time. It would have been better use of their time for them to have just made a set underground area going from Byrgenwerth back to the city with some of the chalice bosses in it then what they did.

It being a separate mode has no relevance on what I expect the quality of it to be or even how it effects development of the rest of the game.

Also congrats Bloodstained! Torment couldn't be the king forever.

It's the worst feature of an incredible game. It's like the worst ice cream flavor. It's still ice cream and ice cream is great! Chalices are 100% optional and have no bearing on the outcome of the game or any of its 3 endings. I never even walked into one until I was on NG+++.

Have you ever stumbled upon licorice ice cream?

Sadly, they were required for Platinum. I hated every lifeless, soul-crushing minute of them. One of the best, if not the best, bosses in the game is locked at the "end" of them too, unfortunately. People missing out on that encounter due to how much Chalice Dungeons sucked ass is a real shame. Personally, I'd rather they had put 100% of the time spent on Chalice Dungeons into making even a small fraction of normal content in return with that boss built into the main game. That soulless, mind-numbing garbage was completely out of place in the type of game that Bloodborne is.

But I think that kind of mode could work way better for an Igavania style of game as an addon. I have much more faith in it working here than there.

Also there are some absolutely disgusting Ice Cream flavors.

$5 doesn't even put your name in the credits. Come on IGA... :/ I wanna see you beat Ubisoft's 2 hour long credit sequence.

Exactly what I thought about it. With the time and effort wasted on chalice dungeons they would have actually added that content to the main game itself. Will that be the same case here? Who knows. Just tired of people thinking that something being optional means it can't effect the rest of the game/the complete experience. More options are not universally better.

I will agree with you on that. I honestly didn't even think the final boss was all that great. It had that cool clone mechanic, but I was so overpowered by the time I fought her, I got her down on the first try. Would've rather had Byrgenwerth been a little bigger or something. Regardless, still a great game and can't wait for the DLC.

I hope the procedurally generated stuff in Bloodstained is like the arena area of Circle of the Moon. I know that wasn't an Iga title, but I absolutely love gauntlets like that.

I'm sorry as I'm sure this has been asked before but if I snag the $125 tier can I split the platforms (ex: Physical PS4, digital Steam) and do both versions come with the exclusive backer content?

I know the $60+$28 tier doesn't and if I'm spending $60x2 for physical and digital I'd rather get the $100 bonus stuff too.

Just backed at the $100 tier for dat Wii U physical version. It's great to see all the love poured out for Igarashi and my favorite series! All the cool stretch goals like music from Virt and voice acting from Hayter are exactly what I want to see from Kickstarter projects.
It's enough to heal the wounds left by Konami I think.

Have they said anything about the KS-exclusive content (boss and swordwhip) becoming DLC? I really don't want to spend $60 right as the steam sale is starting.

It's not enough to heal my wounds but this is the closest were going to get. I'm really glad the Kickstarter is going so well though.

The randomized dungeon goal isn't very appealing to me. I don't think that Rogue Legacy and Spelunky are good games, and while some randomized mode in Bloodstained is bound to have aesthetics that destroy either of those, I doubt the randomized stages will be compelling for more than a peek.

You can, and they include everything.

I asked them personally yesterday if I would still receive beta access and the Kickstarter exclusives for both items if I were to chose PS4 as my physical copy and GOG as my digital; they said yes to both.

I'm tempted to add an extra Wiiu and vita physical edition to my pledge but I'm not sure if this is worth it right now. When the physical version of these games come out, there's a chance, especially on Vita, that it might be cheaper than 60$.

There's also the chance that the retail release for those two platforms will be very limited due to their unfavorable position in the market and them already being fairly undesirable in retail space.

I'd be willing to bet that you'd be hard-pressed to find a copy in the wild if you didn't pre-order/pre-purchase one in advance.

Just did my first Kickstarter pledge for a game.

Really happy to support this project!

Exclusive Kickstarter content and slipcover though ;)

I agree with you, but for this specific case, I don't think there's anything to worry about when it comes to content ever since we reached the Biggest Castle goal. On the contrary, we should worry if they'll be able to make it huge and interesting instead of so big it's boring.

POLL TIME! Which version(s) of Bloodstained will you be getting?

I'm still deciding, personally. Need to figure out which level I want to back, first.

I'll most likely get it on PS4 as well, but my backer version will be redeemed on Steam. I want my Swordwhip and Iga boss in the backwards compatible platform.

Awesome thanks! Pledge boosted to $125.

Ultimately I want to have the game on PS4, but I think I'll get physical vita and U as collector's items I'm already pledged in at $125, and I'm kinda tempted to get pc as my digital so I can participate in the beta, but I'm struggling with the idea of doing a blackout on it and just experiencing it at launch.

This is the most excited I've been for an upcoming game since FF7.

I like the randomized dungeon idea.

Hopefully it's nothing like Rogue Legacy though. Game had a lot of good ideas but ended up being terribly dull and got old fairly quickly.
