Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

So how big is the coin/experience difference between ranked and unranked? Should I just hit the ranked queue to grind to level 20?

At C- rank, you only need to win slightly more than 50% of the time to match the usual Turf War scores. At higher ranks, it far exceeds Turf War. You just gotta win.

So is there a way to reduce disconnects? I am using an USB LAN adapter and even disconnected my laptop from the internet. The last few days were horrible. The game became basically unplayable for me. I tried it again today:

Completed one match, followed by 5 disconnects.
Completed one match, followed by 3 disconnects.
Completed two matches, followed by 5 disconnects.

Every match there's a phase in the first 30 seconds where my ink takes about 5 to 10 seconds before it either shows up or I get disconnected.

I never had any problems with MK8, COD:BOII or COD:Ghosts.

Have you tried doing a power cycle with your modem? Also, if you have WiFi you can also try that to see if your adapter's going KABLOOEY.

I see like 10 people on my Friends List playing Splatoon, but I can only join 3 people. I imagine some are on Ranked, but I can't imagine 7 people doing that. I guess some are idling (like I am lol).

Have you tried contacting nintendo support? They might be able to help.

Anyway, the usual fixes would probably include: opening ports/dmz the wii u, QoS higher priority for the wii u (only if you have other connections on your router), updating the firmware on your router if necessary(and/or applicable), and possibly changing the DNS to google servers or any other servers you like, though I'm not sure if it would really make a difference.

And this is probably a stupid question, but have you set your wired as the default connection? It doesn't automatically switch to the wired after you plug it in.

Can somebody explain to me why you still lose points for an "unstable connection" game? I just ranked down because of a game we were pretty handily winning.

Because anyone can make their connection unstable. Nobody would lose points, and it would be a meaningless rank up system because anytime it looks like you are about to lose you can just pull the plug on your router.

It's a load of bullshit if you ask me.

Smash handles this better. I'm almost tempted to tweet about it if I could figure out who to talk to. Anyone know? Or should I message their tumblr?

because if you didn't people would abuse it and disconnect whenever they were losing in ranked

In Smash, disconnects prevent you from playing for a set period of time, like 5 minutes or more depending on how often you disconnect. I feel like this should be a standard for matchmaking games if you ask me.

!
I see, so that's the reason. I actually thought most of they time they were used to negate defense up. Thank you for the tip.
Most of the time they are. With .52 Gal it's nice to have one because otherwise you can get boned by Defense Up way too easily.

With Rapid Blaster stacking them lets you go up to 99.9 so yeah.

With charger you can go two routes. Either you use just enough to get your charge time for an OHKO comfortable *or* you can stack so heavily you can get 2HKOs with uncharged shots. Going by Violet tests you need to go pretty all-in for that though.

I feel like that'd be pretty damn annoying. if I disconnect from a game of Splatoon the first thing I'd to want to do is get right back in there, not wait 5 minutes.

Then 1 or 2 minutes. I don't know. Regardless, it's better than taking a loss where you're actually punished for losing by risking going down a rank.

Ranked doesn't seem substantial enough that it's a huge deal. Lots of people hitting A rank left and right, despite DC's and such.

Kelp Dome is so much different than other maps -- sort of like the mall, but it feels very two-storied in terms when it comes to splat zones. Putting yourself near the zone is basically a death trap, especially since you can't hide out on the railed-walkways above.

I don't even know if it's a great sniper level, because of the big thing in the center than can obscure you're view. But sniper + wail is a good combo for this.

I'm guessing people who like Kelp Dome on Turf Wars are pacifists or something cause there's almost no combat on that map.

Maybe not combat but I get more kills on Kelp Dome than just about any other map because the flanking/surprise attack opportunities are virtually endless.

So what are you folks doing anyway? Joining on each other to play Turf War? I've yet to play with any GAFfer, but I join in on lower-leveled friends playing Turf War.

Also in Smash it never penalizes you if the game just disconnects you from a match on its own. The only time I've ever been penalized is when I've quit out of a match due to lag

Yeah, some games start with people looking in here. Others just kind of happen. I joined BurnBurn earlier then 3-4 other gaf joined us over time.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give them a try.

Welp, got DC'd, so I'm out (for now). Will be back later, GGs so far ;)

edit: just saw my post went through before... GAF Mobile is fucked up today.

Is there a room going on ?
By the way Daboss, you were literally killing it with the dynamo roller, your game is way more agressive than mine, I'm going to try an approach like this too, I rely too much on the partners once I activate the echolocator.

Hey, add my NNID: Narett when you get a chance (though I'm on the spreadsheet).

I'd like to practice weapons against GAF. I'm free as hell so have fun.
