Rock Band 4 announced for PS4 and Xbox One

If Microsoft were smart, they'd make it happen at theirs. Touting the platform family exportability and legacy instruments might be a big factor for 360 users on the fence of upgrading to one of the current gen consoles. I mean, it would be big for either Sony or Microsoft, but since MS is behind, they have much to gain, considering the amount of casuals who haven't bought into this gen yet and love their Rock Band.
Makes sense for MS to do that.

Bigger megaton would be they figured out a way to port RBN to Xbox One. And/or if you buy RB4 on Xbox One, MS is covering the cost of the RB3 import. I would love that.

Pre-ordered it, I really can't wait.

I hope that HMX release our DLC to the store before the game to make the transition to new console a bit smoother, worried about downloading 1000+ songs myself on launch day, nevermind doing it while others are

Wonder how solo freestyle will trigger or work. Especially considering Green Grass and High Tides

Blitz's solution for GG&HT type songs was to ignore solos that took up a certain percentage of the song's length

I got the original BiaB for between £130-£140 shortly after launch (A couple of weeks after), without the game of course. Perhaps I got a bloody good deal back then?

Yup. RRP was £180, I imagine the same will happen here, this is just the first retailer with the price up, once others start competing it will go down a bit

Hmm, wonder why the change from the traditional "blue" theme that is on the mainline Rock Band games. (1, 2, 3)... Not that it's a bad thing. I think the box art looks pretty good, actually. I imagine this listing jumped the gun a bit and we'll get all this information (release date, pricing, etc.) at E3. Just a matter of when at E3.

Well, if my old GH3 Les Paul works I should be able to avoid shelling out for that bad boy altogether! Wouldn't mind getting the RB4 guitar seperate for it's built-in calibration function though.

No it wasn't, it was £110. I just checked my email for my order back in 2008.

My mistake: Was actually 180 all in, £130 was RRP for the instruments and then you bought the game with a RRP of £50 later, same with Beatles Rock Band

Either way, if you have your last gen stuff, all you need is the game anyways

Probably no full band set for me. I never did use the drums too much. And even though I'd like the Microphone, I got some around here that should suffice even though the new one is apparently a little better.

... I know it's only box art, but something about seeing it there on Amazon makes me even more excited for the game than I already was.

I feel the same way, I love knowing that there is basically a note next to RB4 with my name on waiting for it, it's the same with a game coming out on Steam ETC, It feels more "real" when I have it sitting in my library

Ouch... That's almost 400 Canadian dollars. Maybe no full band set for me. :(

PFfft, well, that really deflated my sails. £180 is about the max I'm willing to go on this thing. Now the question is whether to just go guitars or abandon entirely til next year and revisit when the pricing has gone down. I really thought they'd push to keep this at least matched to what it was previously. The lowest entry price possible suits them and us, they're going to make all their money on dlc anyway.

God I hope the full set doesn't run me more than $250. (though I imagine GCU will save me a bundle here) Especially since I'm also considering picking up GH Live, and that guitar likely won't even be compatible.

Worst case scenario, at least the old shit is compatible.

As for E3, my guess is Rock Band on Sony, GH Live on XBox.

I would flip those and say Rock Band on Microsoft's stage so they can really drive home the point that DLC doesn't travel across networks with how many people bought a ton of Rock Band songs on the 360.

I'm gonna guess guitar hero at microsoft (more fitting for the demographic) and that rock band won't be at either (it's not published by a big publisher and it's not small enough to give sony indie cred)

Grabbing an Xbox One with the all instruments bundle as transferring all the DLC I bought would be cheaper to buy an Xbox for than to rebuy on PS.

Fucking READY

I can see Harmonix getting a very small section at Sony's that was similar to their presences at Microsoft's last year just because they could at least have 2 games to talk about (Amplitude and Rock Band).

Funny, it's the opposite for me.
I bought definitely less than 400€ worth of DLC songs for all of the Rock Band games, so I'll just skip buying an Xbox One to transfer all my DLC and just go with the PS4 that I already have. I would've planned on buying the complete instrument bundle anyway, since on 360 I was still stuck with the RB1 instruments (and two GH2 guitars which were infinitely superior to the RB guitars imo).
That means not only am I finally able to upgrade my instruments but it won't cost me as much as if I would've bought an Xbox One solely for this game.

I just hope the Instruments+Game bundle pops up soon on Amazon.de.

If the full band set is over £200, I'll just buy some old stuff used (I don't have drums or guitar for PS3). I really want to support this game but there's only so far I can go with it if they really want me to pre-order it as they said.

And yeah HMX will be at Sony if anywhere with Amplitude to show as well. Weren't they demoing RB4 on PS4, unless I'm mistaken?

I wonder if there is any possibility of a Dance Central 4.. which would land them with MS. Monday is going to be awesome... for all gamers.

I don't think I've ever played Rock Band online. It's always been with friends.

Same. I just don't see the point, even if the people you're playing with online are friends.
Meanwhile entire nights were planned around local multi many times.

They built Spotlight as a platform, like they're doing with Rock Band 4. I don't think they have any intention of putting out another full Dance Central game for a while.

No, it's been speculated given a weird answer from Sussman, but now I am leaning towards it being a thing (no online on launch).

It blows my mind that he kept his job after the disastrous RB1 hardware launch, let alone survived all of the purges since.

I played Rock Band online most of the time, mostly because my friends are scattered all over Germany, so quick local play sessions are sadly not an option for me.

I would be pretty dissapointed if this game had no online option, even if it's only band play with no tug-o-war or whatever game modes the older titles had.
