NAACP Leader Exposed as White Woman in Blackface

She's an Oreo. Black on the outside but white on the inside. This story is the strangest I've heard all year
You've got that backwards.

At any rate, this thread is fascinating for sure. Equal parts hilarious, sad and oddly thought provoking. I'm squarely in the camp not upset with her as I don't see malicious intent behind her deception. Rachel Dolezal clearly needs help of some sort, though. Her facebook/twitter stuff is just so eerie.

To everyone going "...but she looks white!?" Yes. There are plenty of black people with Caucasian heritage who can pass. It isn't at all uncommon, which is why no one blinked an eye at Dolezal.

But looking at this?
CHOudIVUkAAF9ut.jpg

She would have completely fooled me even if she claimed to be 100% black.

I don't think she's mentally ill at all. I think she made a decision that she wanted to make based on how she preferred to identify. We know who her parents are and probably how she grew up for a certain amount of time early in her life, but we really know nothing about her.

The only part i'm hung up on is how much she lied and how much it escalated even to the point of faking who her father is. Pathological liar perhaps. Possibly her biggest deep dark secret is that she is actually white and had to hide it the entire time. But I don't think she should step down, they should move forward with this. The secret is out, but she should carry on.

racist elementary school teacher flips her shit on Facebook

police shut down two little girls lemonade stand

naacp leader falls into a vat of chocolate pudding and decided to roll with it

this whole day has be one big SNL episode

holy shit lol

The inability to say "no" or "delusional" to people who seem all over the place is really strange to witness with so many of todays liberals. They so badly want to be progressive and open minded that i could litterally say i am a plant, stick some grass in my ass and you have to nod and tell me "well thats good for you, what point of the day do you want me to water you?"

The lack of critical thinking, research evaporates into thin air because "feelings".

Are you implying that transgender people are delusional? Or just this lady?

It just so rage inducing that people want to cheer her on her brave decision to be black. I been black every day of my life, where is my cheer section? Where was ll these supportive people when that little girl got dragged and beaten at that pool party?

Isn't that the same argument used with gay people? When celebrities come out I've seen some gay folk really salty that they've been gay their whole lives and didn't get any red carpet treatment

There hasn't been nearly enough discussion about how she sent herself hate mail and painted a swastika on her door lol. (from the original article)

Yeah, this is also a major problem. Maybe some of it was real, but I don't get what her goal was in creating fake threats then trying to get the police involved.

She saying silly shit like taht when one of the main jobs of the NAACP was to stop black men from getting hanged for being in the same city as a white woman tells me enough about her mindset.

Isn't she married to a black man though?

I mean, all of those posts you linked could easily have the same arguments some women use against transgender women. That's the point Crab and a couple others were making earlier. Like I said, I feel like the situations are different too, as an initial reaction. But I don't have a clear, logical explanation for why "transracial" people like this are at best mentally ill while transgender is a completely different and accepted concept. I can't articulate any reasons and I haven't seen anyone else convincingly do so either. And again, this may be due to my lack of knowledge on trans issues, which is why I was asking for somebody who knows more to clearly explain why they're different.

As for the latter point;

You yourself seem to have accused her "defense force" of being diet racists and police brutality apologists:

People have articulated it, I dont get the standards of what constitues as rational explanation to you when the concept of what we are dealing involves the irrational and its a culmination of many factors which also happen to include how this looks to the eyes of society. There is nothing that indicates that this woman consideres herself black to begin with, given that when asked about it after being exposed she refused to answer, side stepped the question with some crap about Africa, this is person that decided one day well into her adulthoood to start telling a lie, living this lie and commiting itself to it, transgender people dont start feeling transgender out of sudden when they are in their mid 20s, there are biological/psychological differences that set them on this path from day one, they see their bodies as lies and the changes they go through, which they find distressing, is to make themselves more real, they dont say lies about their parents having the same gender as them, they dont act like their brothers are their sons, they dont snark at the dating habits of people from the same gender as them and they dont get investigated by the police for treats of suspicious nature.

This has a name and its not transblack (that felt weird), its called mythomania, and if you are wondering why are people not responding to your posts the way you want to its because 1. You dont know the difference 2. You are requesting us to explain you the difference until you are satisfied with your answer. The reason people find the argument deplorable its because you are trying to find some equivalence between a person struggling with his/her identity and person that tells lies. Do transgender people lie? Yeah, but they dont do it because they are transgender.

Nothing is as entertaining as seeing liberals eat each other.

Im consistent in my beliefs, sorry it makes you salty enough to comment.

BREAKING NEWS: She just took off her whiteface makeup beneath her blackface makeup revealing that she was actually Robert Downey Junior all along.

Yeah people keep skipping over that.

How better to integrate than to pretend to be the victim of 9 separate hate crime incidents in a decade. Incidents which you can then use to claim gives you the ability to speak on issues like REAL hate crimes, REAL discrimination. It's like she literally believes getting massive swastikas carved into doors where minorities work is a regular occurrence.

Also, her parents say it wasn't until the mid 2000's that she started pretending. They said her oldest 'son' is actually one of the adopted siblings. She was well into her mid/late twenties before she adopted this new persona. But hey, 'white is right'. Whatever they decide goes. They tell black people one drop of black blood means they can never be accepted, they then also decide, hey your blackness is nothing more than a feeling. If I feel black, I am black.

People really arrest comparing this to Transgenderism right? Unlike Transgenderism where there is a clear difference between a male and female brain there is absolutely no scientifically observed difference between a white brain, Spanish brain, or black brain. Being born Transethnic just doesn't seem to be a reality

There hasn't been nearly enough discussion about how she sent herself hate mail and painted a swastika on her door lol. (from the original article)

Haha. Lol. Wait...

Neumaier said he was suspicious of several incidents Dolezal reported in Coeur d’Alene, including her discovery of a swastika on the door of the Human Rights Education Institute when the organization’s security camera was “mysteriously turned off.”

Ok, this lady just went from good crazy to bad crazy. That's crazy.

Are you implying that transgender people are delusional? Or just this lady?

Nah, i am suggesting that a line has to be drawn somewhere. And the progressives struggle with it, hence kids on tumblr having 40+ identities. I am suggesting that a line has to be drawn between geniune dysphoria and complete lunacy (such as this example). Everyone is so scared of being called bigots that they just smile "oh what a lovely Dragon you are sphagnum, Lord of Fire!".

I think wishing to amputate your own limbs, and being a pathological manipulative liar who has even found a new "dad" in order to sell her lie is grounds to draw that line and say "you need help".

"There's degrees to being black, you know? Like T is right here, and like lionel ritchie is here cause he's not that black, you know ever since he left the commodors he's practically not black at all, then you got your micheal jacksons who's like a white - black, which can be shortened to wack"

If she wants to identify as black, than who am I to tell her different? It's her body/life.

How does one identify as black though? Are black people from the Caribbean not different than the ones from Africa, the ones born and bred in New York or London or anywhere in the world?

The problem here is she's deceived people into thinking she's black by a) telling everyone she is black when she isn't, b) pretending that a man that isn't her father is her father, and c) appropriating a hair and skin colour indicative of 'black people', as opposed to any cultural traits that black people from different countries may have.

Maybe if she grew up in Spokane, went to Nigeria on a gap year, loved the vibe and stuck to their lifestyle, she'd be deserving of a smidgen more sympathy, as opposed to adopting the catch-all black woman hairstyle, which let's be honest isn't really a lifestyle choice is it?

Race isn't as easily identifiable and categorisable as black and white. There's whole sub-sections of countries and cultures that can make a black and a white man from London more similar than two black men from London and Nigeria respectively, so for her to say she's black and just resort to the absolute basics in that is... troubling.

It's odd because... is it racist? She's married to a black man, she has black kids, she works for the advancement of black people. But she's white. She didn't say, as a white woman who everyone was aware was white, "I travelled in Africa and totally identify with their way of life, I will adopt their clothes and food and music and lifestyle". She costumed up as a black woman and deceived people.

Woman's mentally ill.

So, where do you go in life after being caught in a lie like this?

You move to a larger city with a predominantly white population, you straighten your hair, you stop tanning/bronzing, you get a low profile job, and you float back into the background of being just another white woman in a mostly white town and nobody even thinks to wonder if you bamboozled an entire city's black community at some point in your past.

Basically, she's probably gonna move to Portland.

You don't need jackshit. Stop the devil's advocate crap. Pretending to be black is not the same as transgender/gender dysphoria. This is a white woman lying to pretend to be a black woman. Falsely claiming on census forms she's white/black/native American, giving bullshit responses to reporters how "were all from the African continent", lying and saying a black man is her father and her real white father is her stepfather, lying about how she spent time in South Africa, and her numerous hate crime charges have inconsistencies like how she was the only one who discovered a swastika but magically at the precise time the cameras were down. Getting on a soapbox and talking down to black men etc.

zsJ6nxE.jpg

Here she is telling black people and people of colour how to watch 12 years a slave in theaters in 'whiteopia' , and oh how tough it is for her because she's clearly a black woman right.

Dat Facebook post....like WHAT THE FUCK

Now I know she's white because there are so many people trying to defend her.

That privilege kicks back in real quick.
And you don't think a black woman turning white wouldn't earn similiar mix of negative, positive and most of all confused responses?

yeah some shit went down with her family

I just found this thread, read all of the pages of it.

I have nothing I could even come up with, witty or otherwise, that expressed the amount of shock and confusion I have over the article and the examples of this lady's fuckery.

Life is Strange.

Isn't that the same argument used with gay people? When celebrities come out I've seen some gay folk really salty that they've been gay their whole lives and didn't get any red carpet treatment

This lady didn't come out of the white closet. She got exposed as a fraud. People generally don't like frauds.

I mean, it seems pretty plausible to me. If you were doing it for attention, or because you were "slumming it", why would you do it for thirteen years? This woman hasn't walked a mile in a black woman's shoes, she's lived a third of her life in them.

A third of her life in black woman's shoes............

Did that include:

A. You're so well spoken
B. Getting told by a customer that they don't need help then watching them go to the nearest white employee for help
C. Being followed around stores while shopping
D. Miss out on jobs due your name on resumes
E. Get grilled by police over simple shit
F. Get manhandled by police over simple shit
G. Get the police called on you over simple shit
H. Notice people acting uncomfortable while holding conversation with you
I. Have people use slang in conversation as if a friendly gesture to get to know you better
J. Being told to stop being sensitive about race since "majority of America" is past it
K. Get called a nigger
L. Walking on eggshells daily because people would perceive you as short tempered.
M. Having to go beyond the burden of proof to be validated in a court of law.
N. Physical laws on books to help oppress your demographic (Voting Rights, Gun Laws, War on Drugs etc)
O. Have pretty much either negative stereotypes or partially stereotypical depiction of characters in works of fiction
P. Despite above, not enough representation in most media
Q. Have the country operate with a Eurocentric belief of beauty that doesn't reinforce beautiful black women
R. Have a portion of people truly believe that black people are more dangerous than others
S. Have a portion of people who refuse to reason and sympathize with black problems in America
T. Having 1 out of 3 Black Men statistically destined to be locked up in prison!!!!!

I can continue but why do I need to? Im proud to be black, this isn't a daily checklist and my life isn't a pity party. But these are things you will encounter if you are black in this country, Its GUARANTEED.

This lady has never run into any of these issue and never will. The fact you claim she's lived a third of her life in a black woman's shoes shows you have a very delusional perception about the state of this countries race relations.

Well, that's the point isn't it? There's no real valid way for us to say "no this woman isn't black" because there's no way to define what black is to begin. It changes depending the interaction. I'd say it's more troubling for people to tell her what race she is like they know better. Race is self-defined on the census for a reason.

What? She's been a black woman to everyone who has known her for thirteen years, she almost definitely has been affected by these issues. It's not like everyone else went "obvious white" and treated her like other white people, or we wouldn't be having this conversation right now. Clearly, everyone else thought she was black, and therefore treated her like a black woman for those thirteen years - so yeah, she probably has experienced all of those awful things.

I am wondering why her parents have decided to narc on her now.

From one of the news stories I read, there apparently is some internal drama going on in the family between her sister and brother. She originally accused her parents of breaking this story on her son's birthday for these...reasons (which is reasoning I can't follow--what does her son's birthday have to do with a court case against her two siblings in another state? Also, unclear whether this son is her actual son of her adopted black stepbrother that she's been claiming as her son.)

Her parents deny this, and say they have never said anything about her publicly until the press came knocking on their door and asking questions, presumably after the controversy over the strange claims of harassment and potential hate crimes led to people questioning her qualifications and background, which eventually produced such deeper questions into her background.

That's what I got anyway. And `considering her parents seem to be the ones producing all the truth and proof in this deal, I tend to believe their side of the story.

Isn't that the same argument used with gay people? When celebrities come out I've seen some gay folk really salty that they've been gay their whole lives and didn't get any red carpet treatment

I don't know what the obsession is with comparing this with LGBT issues. Do people really understand so little about both?

Where are you getting 13 years from? In this news article her parents stay she started referring to herself as black in 2007 (when she would've been 29 years old).

But she did it by choice. As mentioned in the CNN article, "It's not just her appropriation. It's that she claimed an oppression that wasn't hers," wrote user Charles Clymer.
