inFAMOUS - The oFFicial Thread

Of course loved the game.

A game I truly loved almost every single minute. Loved it so much I played it twice (which is VERY rare for me).

There were some glitches and bugs that did piss me off. I think I fell through the world about 7 times during both playthroughs. But yeah, great game and Sucker Punch did an amazing job on it.

One little question about Sucker Punch.
What are their dev cycles like? I know with Insomniac, their games have like 2 year cycles, so we can reasonably expect Resistance 3 next year.
What about Sucker Punch though. Can we expect Infamous 2 in 2 years?

Sly Cooper - 2002
Sly 2 - 2004
Sly 3 - 2005

Sucker Punch doesn't seem to have a scheduled dev cycle like Insomniac, so its tough to say when inFaamous 2 is coming. My bet would be 2011 though.

Just finished the game first time playing good side (though the inFamous powerset seemed much cooler)

Masterpiece. Great game. I ran into quite a few bugs though. Fell through the world twice, restraining enemies would lead to buggy pathing and a few things of that nature. Didn't really retract from the game (though I was at 24/25 enemies killed for a side mission when I fell thru the world once) and it is easily the best PS3 exclusive and could be the best next-gen game.

Finished the game today on evil. Loved the ending!

Started Prototype, 3 hours in and I just can't get into it. I think I'm going back to inFAMOUS and will start a good run on hard mode.

I played this demo at Gamestop (I never ever usually play games at stores, but the booth/store very was clean).

Played Infamous demo for 20 mins straight and I almost forgot why I came to the store. The demo was very fun shit. I'm definitely going to look for this one if I can find a deal. More people should be buying this great, enjoyable game. Step it up Sony marketing...

I really hope SP is hard at work again, back from their well-deserved vacation, making the inFAMOUS sequel. Or at the very least, inFAMOUS DLC.

Forget about Sly... >.>

I sure hope not. inFamous feels like the spiritual successor to Sly. And Sucker Punch has been vocal about making development decisions to keep the process fun and exciting for them.

I can't see everyone there getting all psyched about going back to the Sly well yet again. It seems more likely they'd finish inFamous and be buzzing about how they could make a sequel even better.

Not to mention...

Ending spoilers:
The ending basically establishes the game as prologue to the fight against "The Beast." It was practically a cliffhanger.
Sly 3 also ended on a cliff-hanger. I have no doubt in my mind that they will make a a Sly 4 and a inFamous 2, I just think Sly 4 will come before a second inFamous. Rumor has it that they are working on their own, PS3 engine for Sly 4, so it might take even longer. inFamous ran on some sort of C++ engine, that was not designed solely for the PS3.

I agree, I think they should let SLY rest and make something else new.

Well not really. I mean
You had Sly getting into the Cooper vault, finally taking down Dr. M and getting closure with what it means to be a Cooper, and then getting "amnesia". After that, everyone pretty much gets a happy ending, Sly gets the girl, Murray becomes a racecar driver, Panda King returns to his daughter, Dimitri gets rich again and finally Bentley and Penelope continue the Cooper family's legacy for thievery.

The whole
Sly winking, and Bentley making a time machine
seemed very cliff-hangery to me.

I beat this game on good the other day. I need 9 more blast shards (blast those blast shards :(), and 2 more stunts. One of the stunts is killing an enemy with their own grenade, which is weird, since i've done that dozens of times throughout the game. I'm wandering the cleared city, and can't find ANY enemies that throw grenades (aside from the flying bots in the historic district). Any advice?

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about the TM comment. I guess there is potential for a sequel, but I'm still happy with how Sly 3 ended.
To me, it seems like Sly is happy with his ending too.

There are enemies that re spawn indefinitely. I don't remember where exactly, but there is a train station where 5 enemies will spawn and a few of them throw grenades at you eventually. This is the same place where you get the "Have a Nice Fall" stunt.

Here's a video of the location.

Wow, the mods really don't like you. :lol

And yeah, I want SP's next game to be nothing but inFamous 2.

Awesome, thanks for that! Too bad I already did "have a nice fall", and it took me an ETERNITY to find 3 enemies on a rooftop. This would've made it so much simpler.

Why would they go to Sly 4? Wouldn't really make sense ehh? I'm sure the Sly games were beloved (never played them), but they never did phenomenally well. Infamous on the other hand is showing to be a great new IP and is getting some damn good sales.

Ask me 2 years ago who Sucker Punch was, and I would have shrugged.

Easily my GOTY and I really liked the credits sequence.

I don't know about GOTY but I did really like the credits...in fact it may have been the only video games credits that I've actually enjoyed.

Beat the game for the first time a couple days ago and loved it. I beat it on good and was very satisfied. Some of the story and characters, ZEKE, weren't as good as they could have been but everything I did in the game felt so perfect. Waiting a couple months before i replay it with evil.

leave the infamous disc alone, this is one game (and uncharted) where i felt like it was awesome, played it, finished it. No need for DLC, just make the next one :)

why is click banned???

I have to say I really did enjoy inFAMOUS. I'm not one for any type of "sandbox" game either. I got rid of GTA IV a month after I got it unfortunately. Aside from graphical errors, infamous was a nice diversion when I didn't have much else to play. I hope inFAMOUS 2 is on the horizon.

Finally managed to get Platinum last night.

The last fight was a pain in Hard :s really took me long ( maybe the state of fatigue and the time i was playing weren't helping :lol ).

Overall, fantastic ride, loved the pacing, the awesome soundtrack ( especially on the end of the game ), and the storytelling.

Some bugs were pretty irrititating though, especially when your dead body floats and doesn't stop, preventing you from respawning ...

Had some hard time with some of the trophies, but they were all pretty enjoyable.
Except when you try to get a stunt for hours, finally manage to make it and see that it's not the one you're missing ...

Really enjoyed more finishing the game on the dark side, the side missions are waaaaay more fun ( especially with the Reapers ).
Good side was pretty meh, nothing to jump about.

Can't wait for the sequel !
Sasha, Alden, and John's wife still alive, there's still a lot of possibilities
!

Sly 4? Maybe they'll do the Insomniac thing, first Infamous, then Sly, Infamous sequel, ...

I just need to take one more side mission in the historic district, but where? I see a HUGE PIER but I do not see any possible way to cross the water... It's that little piece of territory that I still need.

Damn it all, you're all making me want to go back and replay through the whole game again.

Sounds like most of you opted to play in evil fashion.

Looking forward to being utterly evil this time around.

Quick question about trophies...Im currently doing evil path but in the beginning of the game for the side missions, the 1s that are either good or bad, one of them I picked good...am I fucked for getting the 15 side missions?

Its probably a hidden package mission, so keep an eye out for groups of enemies.

Yeah, you're fucked, they're locked out for good.

I have a question about the framerate. I don't know if it's my playstation or the game but I've noticed some really big drops when you jump from a high building. how is the framerate on your ps3?

Yeah, you won't be able to get the good/evil trophies, but neither of the allignment exclusive skills are that great. You can still enjoy the game.

Ugh, I was planning on doing this game twice and getting a platinum. What's the best course of action at this point? Im 1/2 way done the second city, I've already done all the side missions in the first and a few in the second and i almost have all the powers bought....

The Sly games were did well critically(higher then Infamous on Metacritic for 1 and 2)and did good sales wise. No doubt I want to see an Infamous sequal ASAP though.

Click noooooooooooooooooooooo !!!
not again
And yes Sucker Punch has to do inFAMOUS 2 next. :D

I just watched the developer diaries for this game. They were actually pretty good. I read a gametrailer comment that said something like "after watching this, I've decided I'm not going to buy a used copy of the game. I'm going to buy the game"

I feel the same way. At first, this game looked kind of interesting, but I didn't really think it was going to be a quality experience. After playing the demo, I'm definitely going to be picking up this when I get a PS3 to go along with Uncharted before buying Uncharted 2.

Question:

I just got to the last island and still have ~30,000 XP worth up ugrades to buy to get the achievements. That seems like a lot. I'm on my second playthrough on hard, and want to get them all to get all the trophies on this run. Are there enough points left from all the missions or should I try to grind out some XP by re-playing a certain mission just to be safe? Any suggestions on which one if so?

30,000 seems a bit high, though you can expect as much as 9,000 left over once story-mode is done (on hard). If you're infamous you can always sticky-bomb the civilians that throw rocks at you for +10 XP each time. You might stop completing the missions and do some grinding against normal baddies. Try to sticky bomb the trash monsters, too (throw at them while backing up), since they're plentiful/constantly respawning. They give such little XP normally that stunt-ing them is useful. On my second playthrough (did hard twice) I was able to max things out well before the end, but I dicked around a bit and invaded the non-powered city sections for sport. You're only looking at a few hours' grinding...

Now i can officialy say that i'm part of the 349/350 shards club!.

Well... not really proud of it.

Beat the game as Hero, on Normal. Got all the shards in Neon and Warren (thanks to a map) until i reach Historic Distrit (282 shards after the bridge).

I checked more than 5 times the whole Historic Distrit, and still... one is missing. I think it will be easier to just collect all in my evil playthrough.

Still angry though.

Anyway, great game. Really great.

Is anyone else feeling nervous about the L3 stick? I got 200 shards so far and i feel that it's already more loose then the R3 stick :D

Question about the story progression:
I finished the mission where i ride shotgun on the chopper with john. Is the last mission soon ?

Yes, it is. (the last mission)
