That's how it starts with one character then suddenly the next smash game starts having you do complicated inputs to get off moves. Smash has never been about doing complicated input to get off moves and I have no idea why they felt the need to start now.

This is total bullshit and I don't like it.

how about you worry about it if/when it actually happens

also lol complicated

This post is practically tag worthy. The overreaction is killing me.

To be fair, everybody knew this was coming anyway. I hope there's at least one "surprise" tomorrow.

The surprise was probably supposed to be that all 3 were releasing together tomorrow. Just imagine, end of the stream, "by the way, Lucas, Roy, and Ryu will be available immediately after the direct." People would go crazy.

I know it's too late for this year's Evo, but I am so very much looking forward to seeing Ryu in other eventual tournaments just for hilarity I'm sure it'll bring out of the commentators.

Now that's a slippery slope

I imagine all songs are on the 3DS, some will be locked to the player though for Smash Run.
Oh yeah, I'm sure it will. I just wonder what 2 songs will be available to hear via regular Smash & not only in Smash Run.

Wondering the same for Ryu's stage as well, though I'm it'll just be the remixes of Ryu & Ken's theme. Then maybe the originals for Smash Run.

Ryu in Smash Bros. is a the future of fighting games.

No -isms. No choosing a finisher. No Groove system. All moves, combined into one perfect control scheme. Nintendo vs. Capcom!!

It's like when Akuma appeared in Children of the Atom!

That you think that a single character out of 50+, whose input shenanigans are a direct callback to his other appearances, represents increasing complexity in a series which has had its complexity notably decreased over the years, as though this character-specific callback will bleed into other characters, where such input designs would have no relevance to begin with, with such slippery-slope force that it would forever change how each and every Smash character controls... is literally downright crazy bro. Quit it. Just take a breather, and re-evaluate your comprehension. You sound like a crazy person who wants to be pissed off, or at least, that's the only way I can rationalize what I'm reading here.

D1 is hilarious. Poor streamer.

Don't worry. Ryu is known for these kind of inputs. It's fitting he would include them in some (minor, optional) capacity.

your avatar reminds me

People thought ryu was going to look like sf2 for whatever weird dumb reason

I'll say it again

Tripping didn't kill Smash Bros, but quarter circle inputs did, lol

It's an homage to ONE fighting game character for maybe a handful of moves. If Scorpion ever gets added, he might get something, but that's it. Even then, Ryu still seems to control like a Smash character, so the "Slippery slope" is nothing more than a 1% incline on a hot summer day

Smash has been complicated for years. I always thought smash was great because it was easy to pick up and play, but had subtle depth. You can pick up and play Ryu like any other fighter, but he has more depth than any other character that you don't need to use.

Any Smash and Street Fighter fans?

I'm both.

But it seems we're a rare bunch given the commentary about QC motions lol.

I am, and will proceed to main the hell outta Ryu

kinda disappointed at the SF music selection; was hoping to jam to some Guile theme or something. Oh well, Ken's theme kicks ass so I'll forgive them.

lol, like who?

I suck at SF and much better at Smash and I'm loving Ryu's addition. I always loved the SF series I just could never get good at it. In fact I love watching SF tournaments and really don't care for Smash Tournaments. SF is such a great series and I have nothing but respect for it and it's great players.

Seems like the EX version is weaker but multihit.

EX version hits for 8, normal is 6. EX is multihit, but didn't seem to go through Luigi's fireball. Maybe the multihit only applies to forcing one's opponent to mix up shield timing, rather than having any kind of extra projectile priority. EX appears to travel slowly enough for Ryu to follow behind it, a la Villager Lloid rocket and Luigi fireball.

I don't see Ryu's inclusion as something that would change the way you have to ever change the design of Smash Bros' control scheme for. Why'd people get all panicky over that?
