I've seen worse.Every time I see people say rollers or Kraken are OP, I lol.

I almost forgot about guns that are able to shoot multiple shots in a few seconds. I was thinking of almost getting hit with a charger which would explain why a charger never got a double kill when someone blocked my shots.
I'm not sure why I get people who like blocking my shots. I think it's just more apparent to me because the weapons I've been practicing are single round shots that can't be spammed (well chargers can but I'm usually trying to hit a target from far away). I haven't noticed this problem when using roller or gal.
Spectator mode is a prerequisite for any kind of competitive scene to develop. Yesterday they used some tricks like embedding gamepad feed for the map view but overall the viewer experience was a mess with only that and player perspectice. The game is so condensed and hectic that it needs a feature-rich spectator kit like CS:GO's (e.g. things like free camera control, overhead view with full vision and HUD elements displaying data like zone coverage etc.) to be appealing long-term. This isn't Hearthstone where you can just cut together some direct feed video and call it a day.tournie theorycrafting go go go
If there was one thing I'd like to change in the game, I'd like the opportunity to change main abilities on clothing. That way, I could have the clothes I want on with the main ability set up I desire.

Then like you mentioned there'd definitively have to be a loadout picking phase as well to enable reactive strategies instead of cookie cutter setup vs cookie cutter setup. You won't see many unconventional strats when players can't minimize the risk of getting hard-countered by more common setups.
And even with all that I believe Nintendo would have to kickstart player and audience interest through a number of official tournaments with decent prize pools. There won't be some kind of grassroots comp scene on the Wii U of all platforms.
Geez, E3 has drained my will to Splatoon. :/
Maybe after though. Hope I don't get rusty.
yeah I'm all E3 right now, last night got me hyped as fuck
Are a lot of people getting Wii U numbered error codes as well as game based communication errors?
Not sure if its my new flat's shitty internet or a symptom of a wider server problem.

Do you guys think our shots should go through our teammates? I understand that it prevents using someone as a meat shield, but honestly they deserved to be used like that if they jump in front of you. Plus, it can be a strategic way to break enemy lines when they have control over the choke point.
Yo TS is hosting Splatoon tournaments in August at Next Level, thats gonna be so godlike lmaoSquidboards people are already setting up tourneys
Nope and realistically it's not gonna happen. They'd have to commit to the "games as a service" model to a level unprecedented on consoles (a space where gradual unlocking of on-disc content is something puzzling and exciting) which is not only unlikely considering we're talking about Nintendo here but probably simply not worth it with the Wii U's install base and demographic. Like Las said, maybe in Spla2n.Damn this thread is getting serious
Nintendo doesn't seem ready to support actual Splatoon tournaments all, judging from what's in game. Is there going to be more than matchmaking starting in August? I haven't heard anything about a robust spectator mode or tournaments.
If you're getting 118-0502 or 110-0516 during matchmaking, it's related to a firewall at your place or at someone of the other 7 players.
The few times I get KO'd by a Kraken, I truly feel like I deserved it versus feeling it's somehow busted or cheap. If anything, Suction Bomb Rush is the first and only super that legitimately makes me feel like it could be a problem.
Definitely had those error messages.
Thanks, will look into it when I get home.
Any router settings in particular you'd recommend for Splatoon?
Yeah, sometimes people try to rush me in the middle of bomb rush. You can just shoot instead of throwing bombs, so I typically throw a bomb down myself and get to shooting them. The havoc of the bombs (the area around you should have a bomb or two) plus shooting creates a good situation for the bomb rush user.Yep, if you're standing so close to a Krak-On Roller that you would get splatted immediately by a Kraken... Then you were standing too close to them to begin with.
I've been noticing with Suction Bomb Rush people lately, that they have a tendency to throw the bombs too far away. Meaning, rushing right toward them tends to really mess them up. I think you can shoot your gun in the middle of the special, but a lot of people just continue throwing bombs while I shoot them. Might just be an issue with people who don't know what they're doing, though. If you're outside of that wall or have no option to push through, there's basically nothing you can do about it.
So I picked up the Best Buy Wii-U deal with Splatoon yesterday.
This is a very damn good game.
My only complaint is that I picked up a Pro Controller as well thinking that I'd be using that instead of the Pad... only to find out that's impossible.
That's on me though, I didn't do the research like I shoulda.
So I've only put a few hours into playing but it seems like this is going to be my new jam for awhile.
I would love to see a more organized tourney scene. Splatoon is a game that is pretty viewer-friendly... They would just need to figure out a way to broadcast it, where you can figure out what is going on, a little better. The NWC contest, everyone was just all over the place.

The Bubbler is the only special that legitimately makes me angry sometimes, if only for getting killed by brainless scrubby people in random rooms. It's amazing how, every single encounter they don't have a Bubbler, they get killed? Hmmmmm, maybe it's because they don't actually know what they're doing and they're just 100% dependent on an 8 second shield?
(Definitely not saying all Splattershot Jr. players are scrubby or anything. There are a lot of great Jr. players online who give me huge trouble with or without the Bubbler. It's just a weapon I notice a lot of bad players try to abuse. It's the Captain Falcon of Splatoon.)
(I might be too dependent on Echolator now, so maybe I shouldn't judge.)

Missing one more Squid since NoE decided not to sell those separately.
You just described my entire playstyle
In other news (hold on to your tentacles!): just finished this masterpiece of Splatoon filmmaking. Was going to keep it under wraps until Cannes but in the spirit of E3, GAF can have the premiere. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll ask yourself "why did I click that idiot's link?" The whole gamut.
Seriously, this game is pretty cool looking, though I don't really notice it when playing.
Very fun game, can be dangerous with the whole "just one more game" kind of mentality. Motion controls are pretty awesome too once you get used to them.
You know what sucks though? That you can't form a party with friends, not really. You have to join up in a game, then your friend has to join up with you. Why not just have a party system? Ugh.
I turned them off for now. I'm totally down for motion assisted aiming but the entire vertical axis being locked onto it was jarring, to say the least.
The motion controls are rock solid however and probably provide for a more precise aiming than the thumbstick so I do want to ease myself into using it.
And ya, I "one more gamed" it until 12:30 last night.

Think this path could be useful, if inked up?

There's seemingly a ton in the mall... how practical they might be in the middle of a fight is something else.

I just had the idea for a name if OT3 hits (and at this pace....)
Splatoon |OT3| GET KRAK'N!
SORRY!
You mean a sideways path? They're very difficult to do reliably due to how you need to go upward to preveny yourself from dislodging, and in this case dying.Think this path could be useful, if inked up?

Splatoon |OT3| Release the Krak-on.
still rooting for feel good ink tho
Yep, stole it
Someone posted one for the wall climb on the Rig. I use that shit all the time now. Lemme see if I can find it.
Yeah, instead of the elevators right?
There are also pipes that lead up to sniping spots (or are just good ways to get away) in multiple places that I don't really see people use, too.
Game has a good amount of not-obvious paths people don't know or think about.
Those and that path up to the Sniper perches near the top. You can ink the side of it in a straight line and climb all the way up instead of going up the platforms. I can't find the screenshot. But yeah, finding those not-so-obvious paths leads to a lot of surprise kills. People always underestimate the squid.
I haven't been playing Splatoon in two days
