I wonder if there is any possibility of a Dance Central 4.. which would land them with MS. Monday is going to be awesome... for all gamers.

Not sure. Spotlight seems to be their thing, so I Don't see DC4 appearing. Would love to see it though!

$250 for the bundle? I'm a huge RB fan but that's asking too much.... I was all in at $175 tops. May just grab guitar first now and wait on drums/vocals.

should be noted that RB3's pre order songs were put on the store as regular downloads shortly after launch. So the Amazon ones are likely timed exclusives.

However, RB2's 20 Free Songs pack was never made available on the store since it's license was attached to the disc. I wonder if those 37 songs are the same way or if they're a bonus just for the Band Box. So you basically pay 250 and get 74$ worth of songs.

Follow Me Down would be cool. The rest do nothing for me

Death From Abooooooovvee. I hope I have a new job in time to pre order this lol. Alabama Shakes are good too.

$250 is about a $50 markup over the RB1 bundle's inflation-adjusted price, iirc. That being said, I think the RB2 bundle was $200, which would be closer to $220. I have no idea how much their costs would have changed due to exchange rate changes and don't care enough to calc it, but either way, it's not an insignificant jump (though I wouldn't freak out about $30).

I wonder how much of that has to do with scale (needing higher margins, smaller production runs, etc).

I expect it to be >CAD$300, though. "Hilariously," I've paid increasingly more because the exchange rate has gotten worse w/ every RB release lol.

Smaller scale run, no Viacom, more expensive radios, and a smaller group of people to sell to since they're allowing old instruments to be used would do it, yeah

Also, like it or not, 250$ seems like a lot (and may be out of my reach as well), but compared to the actual going rate of the instruments in new or great condition, is a good deal. In theory I could just sell my RB3 drums and they would cover the cost of the band box alone.

Hopefully the pre-order bonus track packs for this game remain an amazon exclusive thing. Don't want this shit spreading to the retail shops as well with different songs. Keep it simple.

I completely forgot the radios part of it. Yeah, between all those factors a $30 jump seems entirely reasonable. Still, needing to get that (and cymbals?) and a second guitar... yikes... I might see about getting an adapter and using that for the second guitar. I kind of want the new stuff even though my old stuff mostly works... eh...

Between this and the XB1 I'm looking at over CAD$1k to play RB4, barring Amazon saving my bacon w/ E3 deals and a nice sale on XB1s somewhere down the line. :/

Yeah, is the demand there for $250? Anecdotally, I sure know people who will pay that, but I wonder if it will be as mass market as the older games.

Gonna guess band boxes are pre-order only or extremely limited in store, what you're likely going to see is game+guitar bundles for much cheaper, or even maybe game+ 2 mics.

Wondering if the 34 songs thing is a 34 song bundle, or 30 songs + the 4 Amazon songs, or just somebody fat-fingering a 3 while trying to hit the 4 and it's only 4 songs. :p

Hopefully stores aren't dumb enough to load up on the big boxes again.

I doubt they will be taking many of them since Harmonix already said to expect shortages on instruments, with pre-orders being the only way to guarantee getting them at launch.

The $250 seems a bit expensive compared to previous games, but we shouldn't be too surprised if they're not willing to take a loss on the hardware (like I believe they did in the past). That they knew it would be a higher price to entry this time around must be part of the reason they were pushing hard for compatibility with old instruments so they wouldn't alienate all the fans of past games who already had hardware and wouldn't want to shell out so much money again.

DFA1979 in Rock Band?

I can feel the 2007 version of me weeping with joy a little right now.

Hopefully the Amazon exclusive tracks are also available as DLC. DFA & Alabama Shakes would both be great additions. Would hate to lose out since I'm (hopefully) going to try and save $50 through GCU.

Or hopefully somebody will just sell their code online.

Eek. What a bummer for those wanting digital. Are we going to miss out on a ton of content?

Pricing is high, but not totally unexpected considering improved hardware, and way more of a niche product at this point. Probably means there won't be a lot of heavily discounted bundles later on. Mad Catz does not tend to overproduce a lot of their niche hardware like fightsticks.

Looks like I'll need to fix up my 360 guitars. :/

Exclusive songs? Yuck. That sucks. I really hoped they wouldn't do that this time around.

That being said, hopefully they end up as regular DLC eventually. Timed exclusivity sucks, but full out exclusivity sucks even more.

As for the price point... I don't like it, but it's around where I was expecting, unfortunately. I'll wait and see if I can pick it up at Best Buy with GCU. That would save me about $50 if so and a $200 pricepoint is easier to swallow.

I really wanted the band pack for my kids but $250 is absolutely outrageous. Even $200 with GCU is crazy. I'll wait for the inevitable price cuts.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a digital deluxe version that also included the 30 songs.

It's not thaaaaaat crazy though, HMX is smaller and can't afford to take a hit. Plus the quality should be improved so I'm ok with the price.

So if it's $250, then what are the prices of the contents individually?

-$60 game
-$80 guitar?
-$100 drums?
-$20 mic?

So a savings of $10 bucks?

Wonder what the Canadian price is going to be. Probably 280, hopefully not more than that. If it goes up soon it wouldn't be too bad, with 30% off.

The 30 bonus tracks:

All of those are just old DLC, aren't they?
Some are. Some are from old Rock Band exports, some are even from RBN. I'm not familiar with some, but I played Rock Band on the PS3 so I missed out on a lot of RBN tracks. I know for a fact that Blink by Father Octopus was only in the 360. It gives me hope that RBN tracks will move across, although they could have just rereleased them as regular DLC.

I just want to be able to find the fucking drums in my country. Had a lot of trouble finding RB2 ones and ever since 2010, I have been hunting for the goddamn cymbals.

What do you think the announced Xbox 360 backwards compatibility is going to mean for Rock Band?

RB3 with keyboards somewhere down the road? I doubt you'll see it in the initially supported titles to avoid cannibalizing any RB4 sales, but this could be a way to entice people into holding onto their keyboards and allow people to play RB3 content in case an export never materializes.

it will depend if it is supported. it sounded like only 100 or so games will be supported at this time and rock band 3 likely won't be one of them.

I was also hoping the band bundle would be $200 so $160 after GCU, I don't know if I can justify $200 after GCU.
