Xbox One adds Xbox 360 backwards compatibility

My only gripe is that it looks like cloud storage is the only storage option from within the virtual 360, is that right? That's fine by me but for now 360 cloud storage is capped at 500MB and that won't be enough. Here's hoping they make it unlimited like Xbone which would obviously benefit actual 360 consoles as well.

I have over 100 games for 360 and I moved all the save data to the cloud. I think it took up a little over half of the 512MB available. You should be good.

I hope we found out more about how the emulator works. Like how do they emulate a 3.2ghz core on a 1.75ghz core. I thought it would be impossible...

Were there any Xbox 360 games that were "disc only," like not having a digital version? I know a ton of PS3 games never got put on PSN, wondering if the same is true of the 360

They need to update this to include the games I can't play outside the 360. I want Tales of Vesperia, Lost Odyssey and Dead Rising 1 in particular.

Many of the older ones - and stuff with license issues (UMVC3)

I would guess about 75% is digital and the rest is only disc.

I'm a preview member but I never had a firmware update... What exactly am I missing here? Someone help?

Is it just somehow magically on the system or do I need to do something?

I get one like every week ..... no idea if there is a way to have them install on their own but I am always prompted, impossible to miss.

Side note... so what do we do with the games that have the save built into them... my Geo Wars save is I think just part of the game but it will not let you upload the game even though it is only 15mb.

If you're on the latest update and a preview member, it's all ready. Check your uninstalled games or pop in a supported game.

This and the UI update probably have the most impact conference wise for me, anyway. The fact that the Xbox One has BC now means that series that do have remastered games (but do not include all of them) can now still be available for Xbox One owners in the form of BC -- for instance, say that the Arkham remaster ends up being true but it only includes Arkham Asylum and Arkham City -- Arkham Origins can still be played by Xbox One owners through BC. The same can be said of the Gears games that don't get remastered as well. Microsoft can also make deals to include previous games in a series as an exclusive incentive like they did with Fallout 4 and Rainbow Six Siege. The UI update is huge if not only for Cortana and the fact that "Xbox" won't trigger by accident now. The faster/smoother overall UI is also a real plus as well.

After that, the games come second for me. Those quality of life improvements are integral, and I'm glad Microsoft focused on them for their system.

I'm not super sure there is a thread for that, but if someone could send me an invitation for the Preview Program, that'd be awesome. Also, add me on XBL: Jiguryo.

Cannot stop laughing at how bad my timing was with this huge news. I literally cleaned out my room last night, and so fucking happened to throw away my halo 4 and gears 3 disk because "reasons". MS announces this, and I sprint to the dumpster and try to dig out my Gears 3 disk... Im so glad no one was watching my pathetic scream of excitement, as I pulled it out of my trash bag!

Who throws away games ? Donate them at the very least.

i was invited to be a preview member a month or so ago via a msg sent from xbox live, but i never took them up on it. cant find the msg now (on smartglass anyways).

any way to activate this? i forget if there was a code i had to redeem or something...

Helped some out in here who needed invites. I'm not sure how the process works but you should be seeing a message from Xbox Live in a few days about it.

wait I am in a preview program. How do I do this?

Just put in a 360 game that is on the list and it should do it on it's own. I just put Kameo in, thought it was not reading the disk, hit the install icon and boom it started to download the digital version that makes it work. Going to do Mass Effect next.

I really hope Phil pushes the team to get as many games certified for this. This is pretty epic thing and it's not like 360 games look like shit, many of them have aged very well.

I NEED PGR3 to be certified like yesterday and Halo Wars.

So just a reminder to those I sent Preview invites to (around 16 I believe), you should get a message in Live at some point today or the next day or so. I honestly don't remember how long it takes so don't crucify me too bad plz! lol

Once you get that, it should direct you do download the Preview app and then you'll have to register your One from within. That can then take up to 48hrs but my experience was far, far less. But now with things as they are, who knows.

Anyhow, invites for the last 4 or 5 will go out in a bit.

Oh and so far this BC works flawlessly. Good job Microsoft!

They said every first party game should be compatible eventually (besides those with licensing issues) and that they want to do big (hundreds) updates every month.

Once this gets out to the general public, people are going to go bonkers. I have 4 IRL friends that have passed on both the PS4 and Xbox One and now with this they are getting Xbox One's. For many this is a huge deal due to amount of games many people own on the 360.

Just the more they get pushed out the better.

Anyone wonder why they are waiting till Holiday to release it everyone? I am going to assume it is going to be part of a marketing plan or something, because at that time is one they said they will have 100's ready to go.

I too want to know if there's a place to beg for invites. I did a lot of testing of the OG Xbox games running on 360 back in the day and I'd love to get in on the ground floor of this new feature.

Plus I already own most of the games on the list. Gamertag is: Dead Man Typing

Can anybody shoot me an invite?

Gamechanger for me. I have my 360 still nearby just cause I have a huge backlog. From a sheer convenience standpoint, this is amazing. Probably the best piece of news today.

Fine tuning and working with publishers is my bet

This is what happens when you put in an unsupported game disc.

"Small Arms" is on the compatibility list and I own it digitally but it's not showing up in my list to install. All the others did except that one.

Everything I know about emulation says this shouldn't be possible. Would love to know how this is being pulled off. Amazed.

For those playing are the games enhanced at all or is it a 100% same experience? I am about 60% downloaded with Kameo then will install Perfect Dark Zero. So I have not had time to test anything myself.
