bams, seems like you want gb to be like every other hype merchant out there because there's no such thing as games journalism apparently

Could care less about this whole debate but picturing the GB crew reacting like that to something is absolutely hilarious. I want Jeff standing on the chair and Alex on the verge of tears.

the video that was linked timestamped to when bosman got out of his chair and walked away, so i dunno
To be clear I thought the dude in the plaid was the one saying he was the professional. The guy in the suit had his mouth covered up. He actually acted the most reasonable out of everyone. The embarrassing shit was the two guys in the back yelling and jumping around.
You guys complaining about the GT reaction are fucking sad human beings. Or robots.
Nah man, I was just as hyped about a lot of the shit from this conference. But I'm tired of video game journalism essentially being an extension of Youtube personality behavior and forum behavior and want at least the ones getting paid money for it held to a higher standard.

I don't know how any one could take someone's opinion seriously if that's how they act when a game they're interested in gets announced. How do you know what they're saying is reasonable when they're jumping around screaming every time something they're interested in gets announced? The whole reason I like Giant Bomb is because they're one of the sites who makes sure to actually analyze things before getting that excited. If I were to go out and buy every game I've ever gotten hyped for I would have wasted a lot of money. GB are the people who break shit down and don't have me worrying that they're not just on the hype train with everyone else.

It was a launch game, every bit as "awful" as Forza 5 if that is the hyperbole.

It was decent for a launch game.

And maybe Adventure RPGs are right up their ally. Take sleek KZ action in a rich world does seem promising.

It wasn't decent for a launch game. It was just a bad game and that isn't hyperbole. I've been through plenty of console launches and a lot of my favourite games of all time were launch games, so that's not an excuse for a bad game.

Also I agree with you that they could be good at this genre. Good on Sony for allowing them to make it instead of just keeping them in the Killzone hole. I thought the robo dinosaurs were pretty cool.

Street Fighter 5 looks like a massive improvement over 4. Looks like movement isn't super fucking slow like 4 and I like the sound of the new mechanics way more than the focus and ultra stuff from 4.

Super excited now.

Lol at people shiting on Bosman and Huber, they can be level headed about videogames aswell as completely bat shit crazy... as seen in the video. That's why they got their fans.

GB crew made some good points over the first party line-up for 2015, there is't much from sony which is kind of disappointing, but also predictable after Andrew House interview. Still holding some hope for some games that have been announced on last years Gamescom, but not that much...

Imo they downplayed a lot of the announcements, even if they don't like the games presented, they're still pretty big.

The whole discussion about PC over consoles sounds like they don't really understand the casual market at all.

That's most of the market.

Your point being? If people are supposed to offer a critique of the happenings in the industry they shouldn't have a blind spot because consumers don't want to take the best option. Console manufacturers should be providing exclusive content for their machines if they're beat in regards to both price and power by PC. If not then sites like Giant Bomb should focus on informing consumers that the PC is currently a better platform, which seems to be what they're doing.

Shit, I swear GAF has turned into bizzaro-land now it's Sony focusing on 3rd party rather than MS.

People who don't justify 600+ for a PC when the games are half the price and they don't need to pay for online play aren't worth being concerned about.

Well, they're half the price eventually.

I mean the Witcher 3 just went to $54 on the steam sale, whereas Target was selling it on console for $42 a week and a half ago. If you are playing games on release day you're paying full price either way.

I'm fine with Giantbomb being Giantbomb and I'm also fine with jump up and down about a video game guy. I personally can't really relate to the latter but if you do, than who am I to shit on what you like.

I just don't appreciate it when people expect Giantbomb to remotely try to act like jump up and down guy. How they reacted to the Sony Conference was completely expected and not as terrible as some make it out to be.

You guys DO know that was Huber and not Bosman popping off like a maniac right?
I don't think they do. I also dont think they know about the bets that the two have been placing with each other the last few e3's about both shenmue and last guardian. I wasnt going to say anything though since everyone was having so much fun arguing.

You people shitting on the hosts of comedic talk shows on GameTrailers because they were acting in character are being absolutely childish and embarrassing.

Jesus Christ can we track down these people and interview them.

tell you what, if money was no object, I'd rather sit down with Suzuki and pick his brain for an hour or two over dinner than have a new Shenmue game.

instead it's like "oh, that's almost a year's worth of rent"

The person who got Ryo's jacket is in the Shenmue 3 thread.

I have no interest in sifting through that thread, but that's pretty funny

I don't understand why people are annoyed at GB on the chat.

They said Sony had a great conference, which they did, but they didn't show much for this year and not a lot of pure exclusives, which they didn't.

depends on your sale-watching, I grabbed it for $35 on GMG. Deals happen all over. (Steam sales have recently gotten worse from their nadir, but GOG and Humble Sales are really kicking ass these days)

They said nothing wrong. You people are far too sensitive to any criticism. Sony ain't got shit for the rest of the year. Next year looks fantastic (for whatever games don't get pushed back to 2017).
That's just how it is.

Shit, I swear GAF has turned into bizzaro-land now it's Sony focusing on 3rd party rather than MS.

But they aren't beat in terms of price/power because for most people they aren't in the same market as PCs. Xbox One tanked because they tried to charge $500 for it. There is clearly a limit to what a vast majority of consumers are going to spend on a gaming console. Consoles are a separate market from gaming PCs (with some minor overlap) and will continue to be just that for the foreseeable future no matter what the "master race" will tell you.

I was pretty surprised with how critical they were of Sony. Yea, there first-party lineup is sparse this year, but that's a short-term problem and one that can be negated by the $100 price drop that the PS4 is due. Combine that with the co-marketing deals with Battlefront and MGS5 and Sony shouldn't have a problem maintaining a lead in 2015. Next year, they're lineup is completely stacked. They're in a very solid position of strength.

Witcher 3 was $39 on pc before it even released

edit: nvm already pointed out

Everyone complaining about the GB Crew's reaction to the PS Conference, Did you watch their reaction to the MS Conference?

They were equally unenthusiastic.... They all seem really tired/exhausted already... No real enthusiasm, just concerns really...

I don't think it's some bias or anything, although I don't necessarily see people saying that.

I just want to point out that that guy clearly said "Alright, I'm a professional" in a tongue in cheek way

Like, I don't get how you can watch that and not think he's saying that in an ironic and self aware way

Can someone link me to a timestamp of this PC over console discussion from the GB guys? Interested in hearing their points.

Weren't those GMG sales kinda shady? Or did they eventually find out where those keys came from? I remember a bit of hub-bub from CDPR before it came out.

Their biggest complaint was that the old shit looks old and not enough vr

Those sound like reasonable statements to make.

I'm especially concerned with vr. They crammed 3d down our throats one year, Move the other year, yet vr got almost as much time as the vita did. Kinda concerned about it if they're still planning on a 2015 release, less so if it's 2016

Giant Bomb is full of cynics but it's always been that way. Ryan and Vinny were/are the more upbeat part of the group. I agree with them on some points like the fact that a lot of the Sony conference was very heavy on future prospects and past nostalgia but also see why the average person might not care about the lack of first party titles when Battlefront, CoD and Fallout are launching within weeks of each other this fall.

Also Uncharted is less than ten months away.

Bring on the daily cast!

Yeah it's kind of ridiculous. God forbid they ride the hype train for one of the most exciting E3 conferences in god knows how long for one out of 8760 hours of the year.

It's a a grown man acting like the most excitable child over a kickstarter announcement, and we're the one's being ridiculous.

Giant Bomb reacted like adults and people that have lived this shit for years. That's a valuable perspective for the industry, really enjoyed the coverage today. Plus it's just opinions at the end of the day. Plenty to look forward to, the downer stuff is overblown.

Exactly. The GT guys can be as hyped as they want and cry over Shenmue 3 being announced as if it was a cure for cancer. That's completely fine and I'm not going to persecute him for it. Good on him for being so happy.

But imagining Jeff and the rest of the crew doing that.... I can't see it. I've been watching them for 7 years now, I know how they react to things. So when people come here and act all outraged that they aren't bouncing out of their seats, yeah that ain't Giant Bomb and I wouldn't want them to be any other way.

Vinny and Dan are definitely the most upbeat of the crew, they just don't let their voices be heard nearly as much as the most cynical (Brad and Jeff).
