Giant Bomb @ E3 2015 | L.A. on Lockdown

I'd prefer the restrained nature of the giantbomb reactions to the teenie bopper seizures I can see in the gametrailers stream gifs. You're an adult on the job, act like one and use some self control. You can be excited without embarrassing yourself.

Hell you'd think they would be happy for a friend of their (Adam Boyes) delivering one of the craziest E3 moment of all time but I guess that's too much too.

So they can get wasted with the guy when he was with capcom and they were playing that pirate game and put it all on video on their site but it's too unprofessional to be happy for him on a livestream?
They still hang out with Boyes. If anything, it shows how professional they are that they have the ability to hang out with the VP of one of the biggest video game companies in America, and have no problem turning around and criticizing his company when they feel that his company deserves it.

Giantbomb is fine to feel how they want, my biggest complaint with them is that they seem to be an echo chamber at times where Jeff will say something snarky and the rest will either agree or try to add to it. There is not many times where a valid counterpoint is brought up by others. Like Sony having nothing for holidays, turns into Sony has nothing for this year. They do have titles, but they have just released most already and many more are coming in early 2016. I don't get why releasing in the holidays is all that matters. October and November are saturated with titles at this point, releasing anything else in those months would be suicide, and I bet titles currently slated for that window get delayed. Yet somehow if Bloodborne and The Order and Until Dawn were held for that window and UC4 rushed for that window, that suddenly would make everything better in their eyes?

Also Sony announced 3 new IPs from first party studios (Horizon, Dreams, and RIGS) and rerevealed TLG for 2016 release, and showed more of UC4, so I fail to see how Sony's first party output was under represented during the show. But again because non of those were announced for this fall, then that means sony's first party output is weak or barren. Just a weak argument to me, and one that is not taking in the full picture. The counter question to "What does Sony have for this Fall?" is "what does MS have between Halo 5 and Gears 4?"

Yup this is what I love about GB.

I'm sure they're all excited about what they saw. They just didn't act like giant man children about it yelling and screaming.

No, see, you holding this opinion makes you the embarrassment. And perhaps a sad human being. There's a few narratives going around.

I mean, sure they're really cynical, but that doesn't dismiss their argument in terms of 'must have system-selling 1st party games'.

Now, the PS4 doesn't necessarily need it, as it's still got heart-and-minds, and some of the STEAM/PC comparison always falls flat due to the fact that some people will never go PC, which is a disconnect, but there's definitely a kernel of truth to their musings.

Or with FFVII, where they point out that if the systems don't get some form of overhaul, newcomers are in for a lot of jank.

Or the 'exclusive content', which doesn't necessarily give a huge 'new' feeling outside of people trying to decide between platforms.

The argument isn't Sony has no games this year.

It's Sony has no exclusive games this year.

Until Dawn in August

Tearaway Unfolded In september

Uncharted Collection in October

Dragon Quest Heroes also in October

Helldivers was in March

So was BloodBorne

MLB:THE SHOW

Microsoft has Tomb Raider, Ori Blind Forest, Halo 5, Forza 6, Gears of war ultimate.

One of those games has been released, the rest are this Holiday.

If your into those type of releases, more power to you, the same is for Sony. People who say they don't have anything are fooling themselves.

Next year, Xbox doesn't look so hot, and if you ask me IMHO the first half of 2015 goes to Sony.

Honest question: why do exclusives matter so much in a market dominated by third party games? How many months do people think that a game like Tomb Raider or Street Fighter V are going to chart and drive sales?

It just seems like message board fodder, and little else.

Huh. Okay. How so?

FF7 being a waste of resources and who will buy it anyway; Batman, AC and CoD being a waste of press conference time; CoD map exclusivity not mattering; TLG, Shenmue and FF7 remake all making an appearance being concerning; "why get a PS4 instead of a gaming PC?"

Just some of the weirdest analysis out there. This isn't the sort of analysis I'd expect from a group with hundreds of collective years of experience covering the games industry.

I'm not even interested in re-living FF7 again and I think Shenmue is trash and the idea of using KS on a press conference is tacky, but the entire specticale of the thing was fun to watch.

Of the "Big 3" Last Guardian legit surprised me with how interested I am in it now.

okay, i admit it. i'm probably not as much of a restrained adult as a i should be. i'll look to giantbomb to start my check list of things to improve on:

No. You just revealed yourself as a hardcore fanboy though.

Nah, the cynicism and pessimism was actually depressing. As another on this page said it felt like regurgitated arguments from fanboy wars as opposed to an objective view. Right down to being "concerned" after the conference was over.

Their personal sentiments? They probably do, but when Dan has to struggle to explain that an FF7 remake is a good idea over Brad decrying that it's a waste of money and that no one wants it it's pretty obvious that Brad has trouble separating his personal feelings from his analysis of the market.

Dan and New Guy (I forget his name, but I do like what he brings) did both seem the most Hyped for some of the Sony reveals.

And the guy on the far left (Im horrible with names) did say "In terms of Look at Me Excitement, Sony killed everyone else so far" or something like that.

way to come off like a huge piece of human garbage.

I didn't want to start some weird defense list war. I'm past caring about Sonys exclusive output because I have enough to play right now for a couple years if games were to stop being made tomorrow.

Having said that, come on. Even Andrew House admitted it was sparse. It is what it is. It doesn't make it less of a console and doesn't invalidate my or your purchase.

this thread got me rolling, it was embarrassing and sad in one direction but it's now embarrassing and sad in a completely different direction now.

gametrailers is rad and consistently does cool shit and both their approach to things and giant bomb's approach to things are allowed to be good even if they're different.

To me, it shows that people are using "professional" to defend perpetual negativity in which a room full of 6-8 people seem to all be down on the same thing at nearly all times. How does that even happen? You get that many people in a room and usually there's difference in opinions.

But that's just my opinion. Like I was saying, I watched about 4 minutes and changed to something else like people here have suggested doing. I'm only responding back now because a lot of people responded to my post. If you just wanna see a bunch of guys who have seen it all before and are not phased by any of it, then more power to you. I guess I'm still a sucker for the hype once every couple E3s.

Brad utter dismissal was fucking lunacy to the point that Dan Ryckert aka the guy who isn't much of a fan of jrpgs was the one voice of reason (even if its somewhat idealistic) LOL.

As for the "lack of first party" stuff? eh since they will have the stuff that apparently matters while they get more time to straighten up their first party offerings since their record has been pretty bad so far

Have they said when their Sony conference archive will go up? I'm planning on watching the Sony conference within the next 30 minutes (I've managed to stay spoiler free up to this point), and would love to watch their commentary, but it doesn't seem to be on the site yet.

Didn't watch GB's stream of it, but I'm not surprised that they weren't super impressed by Sony's.

None of them strike me as the Final Fantasy or Shenmue loving crowd.
