oh god i wonder what games will be in the arcade - Afterburner Climax? OutRun Arcade? FUUUU
shit yes, i need more of this classic Shaw Bros shit
we're drinkin and petting stray cats over here in your honor bro!
If SEGA was happy enough to give Yu the IP I doubt they would have any issue with Sonic and Phantasy Star capsules in this game. Free marketing and all that, besides he's still a highly regarded figure at SEGA and still holds a management position.
My only worry is having some of the arcade games playable haha.
I already suspect Sony is putting some money in it already, because 3 mill is definitely not a full production cost number.
More dust in my eyes.If Yu Suzuki would have never gotten the chance to finish this, Shenmue's failure would have been his legacy. No matter how much Sega fans like me would have remembered how outstanding his career was, he would have forever been known for not finishing his greatest work.
I am so happy that Yu Suzuki gets to rewrite his legacy.

This is beautiful. This is just the best.
This too. Amazing.
Afterlife.I just paid money for Shenmue. This has to be a dream.
It is quite bizarre. It is like a Unicorn, Loch Ness Monster, and Bigfoot all crashed the same kegger.Final Fantasy 7 Remake
The Last Guardian
Shenmue 3

To those who believe, no explanation is necessary... To those who do not believe, no explanation will do.
I choose to believe.
Eventually, I'll either be right or I'll be dead. If I'm dead, it won't matter. In the meantime, even if it's five million to one odds... 'So, you are telling me there is a chance!'
That's right, we're getting an M2-grade port of Power Drift and you know it.Oh and hate to be that guy and all but...
We're not getting Planet Harriers or Afterburner Climax in a 1988-1989 era arcade.
Might want to reel that in just a bit.
They didn't give him the IP. They still own Shenmue.
I don't know, you never know what might happen.
Really hope this is the case. $2 million is nothing. Didn't the original cost like $70 million back in the fucking 90s?
I don't like this. Kickstarter was not meant for companies like Sony.
I can rewatch this forever. INCREDIBLE. :_)

This is the best reaction of all-time.
OF ALL-TIME.

The problem with a 1/2 remaster, guys, is that it will deflate hype. People will go like "Wait, THIS is Shenmue? Yuck" and of course don't expect them to sell on fans alone, because the lack of them is why there wasn't a S3 before.
The wisest move is to release S3 with tons of backstory, and make it look (and play somewhat) mainstream, like Sleeping Dogs or Yakuza.

^^^Yeah, I keep seeing all these "ZOMG HD REMAKE YEAH" posts and I'm like...those games were so incredible in their time, but I never want to go back to them. I want those memories to be perfect as they are, because even at the time I knew that there were a lot of flaws in the games that I was willing to look past because of how revolutionary the world and its commitment to detail and tone were. Now that almost everything it did right has been absorbed as part of the general game design vocabulary, I think a lot of people would look at those games and not quite get it. I know because even at the time, that was true of a lot of people.
I'm hoping they add new KS tiers soonish. I want to go up from my $500 pledge.Bumped my pledge up to $500.
I wish my old Geocities Shenmue fan site was still around. Shit was dope. It had snow falling all over the screen and everything.
Oh and hate to be that guy and all but...

OH MY GOD.
The dream has come true...

Isn't the physical soundtrack for Shenmue III and not I/II?Well.. just pledged $310, no regrets. (It includes the physical soundtrack, which I was going to get anyway and it's over $100 used in itself, if I'm not mistaken.)
