Horizon: Zero Dawn | PS4 Exclusive | Screenshots

Well, i understand that it made you "feel" things, but the vast majority here is talking about THE LOOKS. It is eye-candy and that's a fact. Guerrilla must acompany it with a good storyline and a not repetitive gameplay and we're good.
Just because this thread(a screenshot thread) is discussing the looks doesn't change what I said. My point was only that there was far more appeal to what they showed than just pretty graphics. I hardly think I'm alone in that.

I think its funny you assume we've seen all enemy types and also assume there is no chance of a hierarchy in these "dumb-ass dinosaurs"

Lol. We know almost nothing about the context of this game, what caused the apocalypse or how the robots originated, and you're already writing the game off based on not knowing this information?!

It just didn't appealed to me. Even though there will be additional enemy types for sure changes nothing about animal-like machines wandering the environment. Natural animals are supposed to do so and have to take their place in a very complex ecosystem, but not artificially created machines. That alone is a major letdown for me.

If you like what you have seen that's totally fine for me, but my impression doesn't matches with yours. Except for the graphices and audio, both of them are astounding.

If they manage to flesh the context out with future material to be revealed I will be totally happy about it, but my impression right now isn't a good one.

Nah. Killzone is a chore. There's a good base in the gunplay, but there was never any really interesting application of this aside from the first open area that just serves as a cocktease for the rest of the game. There's no real sense of progression in terms of mechanics and it felt like they simply ran out of good ideas in the gameplay department really quickly. Tactical? That's seriously, seriously stretching it unless you've played nothing but typical AAA shooters your whole life.

They did do a good job with the world design, though. Which bodes well for a developer tackling a large-scale RPG.

Well, you have a suite of options in Shadow Fall. Many (most?) guns have an alternate fire, you can locate enemies by using the echolocation ping (right on the d-pad) and the longer you hold it down the further away you can spot enemies - but holding it too long gives a feedback screech and alerts enemies to your position which was a nice little touch. Then there's the OWL, with which you can create a zipline in any appropriate location provided you have the higher ground, you can create a static shield for protection, and you can send it to flashbang enemies or to attack enemies. Then there's that level where there's the hostage situation and you can choose how to attack - whether you go rappel down the side, crash through the skylight, sneak in the vent, or whatever. I mean, sure, it's not Deus Ex or anything like that and I agree that the forest is the best level, but it's got loads more gameplay depth than most FPSs on the market.

Hearing it yet again, I'm leaning toward Laura Bailey for the voice especially thanks to that narration part. One of my favs, should be great.

Graphics always impact the first impression, especially in a show like a game conference

The graphics were beautiful but I don't think thats why it has had such a good reception. The music, the art and design of the world, characters and enemies were excellent. To top it all off the gameplay was very promising. Not only did it the battle system have style but it showed there was depth as well. You have numerous weapons, the tether mechanic, dodging (not sure if it has i frames), you could use parts of the robot to your advantage and the obvious weak points. I've seen numerous ARPG's and only a certain few have made fighting big enemies look that good.

You sure have some good points, but almost 8/10 comments in both this and the gameplay thread are "looks beautiful" "looks amazing" etc. Now go check the Last Guardian thread and see the reactions for the so called "most scarce and No1 Sony game" and you'll be amazed....

Graphics DO make a good first impression.

So excited for this! So glad they are moving away from being "the killzone studio". I love the first and second, but after that I lost interest.

This is the kind of new IP stuff I've been waiting for Sony to show off.

Nobody is arguing about graphics making a good first impression. Just saying that people seem interested in this for more than just the graphics.

TLG thread's lack of hype is also because it looked boring, not just because of graphics.

No date set for this, just 2016? Gotta say, this is the first game from Guerilla that actually has me excited. Killzone never did anything for me, but this... looks spectacular.

People are having a laugh if they think the reason Team ICO games are hailed as masterpieces and so loved is due to their graphics. Those people have certainly never played an ICO game.

They really did nail the look of the concept art. At first I thought it was too good to be true based of the concept art but here we are. They fucking did it. I thought I set my expectations too high but nope. They met them. Even surpassed them by how intrigued I was with story so far. If the new writer from Fallout NV can work their magic and the quest designer from The Witcher 3 can work theirs... My god man.. Could be my favorite game here. A gorgeous post apocalyptic open world with robot dinosaurs. Man oh man oh man.

Sure, it has a lot to explain to do. Like why are they traversing without some kind of dinosaur mounts.
I think I mention this ages age in the leak thread and some insider I think verendus or someone in the know don't quite remeber said it's not just regular bows it's upgraded etc ...
From the gameplay it seemed by bows with things stolen from other robots ... Basic intelligence dunno how it works but hey it works so exploit it ..

Great background-story concept, the heroin is super cool (Ygritte-style u know), the robots-animals are one of the best design I've seen in a game in the last years, and the gunplay seems fun.

I hope fall 2016 release, don't disappoint me Guerilla.

MS conference was kinda average this year, but man did it seem much safer and far more uninspired than it normally would have after Sony's conference.

Nostalgia and history aside, this was easily the most impressive game at Sony's conference. It shows a hell of a lot of confidence to follow TLG.

Looked very cool. Glad GG was able to get away from the awful Killzone franchise.

Other than the main character's dialogue I loved this trailer. Hope it turns out well.

Just caught up on the Sony conference and this looked good. Liked the blend of the art direction and the battle seemed interesting.
