The gamepass effect.
Still good numbers.

Says the guy who likes garbage like grounded. That's almost as bad as liking hellblade 2.The first one was OK. I would say a 6 or 6.5/10 game. First two open world Assassin's Creed games were more fun. Can't even rate the second one, because I was bored so much I bailed as soon as I realised it will be a waste of time. So, I am not surprised the sequel didn't sell anywhere as much.

Nah, most of those copies were given out for free, you can take a look at the low average selling price for HZD in Sony PlayStation software sales leak.
I don't care about you, I just worry about understanding how you are not bored of a game where you have to push forward in the thumbstick for many hours straight, but somehow you got bored of Horizon FW in 2 hours. You carry on playing your Horizon games and dont worry about me![]()

It's so fucking ridiculous that the argument your little side bitchSenua made that it's your "OPINION" is no longer valid in any rational sense.
I have no idea what you're talking about. According to psnp 42.33% of all players (who have their trophies set to be visible for public) have finished the last mission, 38.75% finished the epilogue. Meanwhile, in Horizon Zero Dawn (PS4 version), 40.05% of all players earned the last story related trophy.Oh, so maybe that explains why it has one of the lowest completion percentage rates of open world games on Playstation and Xbox. Pc doesnt even need a patch, and it has the lowest completion rate of all platforms...

It's what sells to the lowest common denominator. Cash rules baby
It's a game made to appeal to the masses, it's accessible and safe. Ubisoft esque. Compare it Death Stranding for example, which is antithesis of this. It's the same as Marvel movies. It doesn't mean you can't enjoy them as an enthusiast, as I have done so too.Why is it that folks, like myself, who like these games are the "lowest common denominator"?

Yep, that's why AAA isn't what it once was for many of us, especially from Sony who used to really push innovation. And I don't despise it in the slightest.Sounds like most AAA games to me. Games like Death Stranding are the outliers. Accessible and safe are fine as long as the game is fun to play. There are parts of the Ubisoft template that are used in most open world games including Zelda. And yeah, won't be the last time I enjoy a game that is vilified by many "enthusiasts". Can't say I understand folks flocking to threads about games they despise, but it is a first party game so that explains most of it.

Horizon has a ton of fans that don't engage in forums or reddit. They play the games, love them and don't ever discuss except IRL.How is it that people loved horizon years ago but despise it now? Like there's a genuine hatred of this franchise now here on gaf. What did I miss? Didn't play forbidden West but from what I've seen, it looks like a high quality game.
Enthusiasts are increasingly out of touch with where the direction of travel is going with gaming. You might notice that the biggest games out there are rarely discussed on forums like this (maybe COD is the only one that gets any discussion on here).Sounds like most AAA games to me. a new IP from a studio that had never made an open world game, came out and was already much better than Ubisoft games... It was so successful that the dumb playboy of the gaming world, Xbox, saw it and said "daddy nadella, I want one too"It's a game made to appeal to the masses, it's accessible and safe. Ubisoft esque. Need to go ahead and play the DLC. Think I'll do that next after Metaphor. No doubt the sequel will be PS5/6 only. I thought GOWR went on to long but I thought HFW was just right and I got the plat. Both games are cool.
As far as sequels, they're all a bit longer than necessary which hurts their pacing (GoW & HFW mainly), but it's crazy that no one acknowledges, specifically, HFW's potential being hampered by cross-gen.
Whoever didn't make it to Burning Shores for a preview of how they take this franchise to the next, they definitely missed out. Man, that last boss was awesome.
Horizon 3 needs to be PS5 and/or PS6 only. That extra power was certainly leveraged in the DLC.
You're obsessed with console wars brother. Sony has way better games for you to shill for though just saying.a new IP from a studio that had never made an open world game, came out and was already much better than Ubisoft games... Job listing states Microsoft is making a Horizon Zero Dawn-like game
According to a job listing spotted on LinkedIn recently, it looks like Microsoft is working on a Horizon Zero Dawn-like game. If you're logged into LinkedIn, head over to the profile of Sandor Roberts who's asking for game developers to fill the position of Lead Environment Artist. This is great news for Xbox One owners who were hoping for a similar titles on their favorite console.

Sony Suing Tencent Over Upcoming Game It Calls A 'Slavish Clone' Of Horizon: Zero Dawn
Sony claims Light of Motiram was announced after the company declined a collaboration deal with Tencentkotaku.com
I'm glad the Horizon games include the option to skip dialogue. Can you imagine having to listen to every NPC's boring thought play out? Probably saved me hours of time.
Little bro still hasn't learned what opinions areMicrosoft wanted to make a game "like Horizon Zero Dawn"
Tencent copied the game and is facing a lawsuit
The game has already sold 38 million copies
5% of players achieved the Platinum Trophy
32% of everyone who played the game made it to the end and completed the main mission
But "it's not all that"
It doesn't necessarily translate into actual consumer desire when bundles were often pretty discounted and included alongside one or two more games.Yes, but that doesn't really speak well for the popuarity of Forbidden West. People who bought the PS4 bundles actually wanted Zero Dawn, while many who bought the PS5 bundles only wanted the console but were forced to get Forbidden West as well.

GOTY contender

How does the fact the game sold well change how much someone liked the game? You're just shilling ast this point.I didn't respond to you and cite facts. You're the one who seems to dislike it when reality contradicts your opinion.
The topic is about facts, sales. But it seems that children don't accept facts that contradict their opinions.
Well the original came out years earlier so it's had more time but it was also a better game, FW looked better but the story was awful and I started calling Aloy, Anoy because she started most conversations with a sigh lol. She just has no personality. The side characters were great I liked all of that but the added gameplay elements didn't feel very good, the grappling line sucked and they nerf any robot you get to ride.Curious how most of Sony's sequels are selling significantly less than the original games.
It's a bit like James Cameron's Avatar, or the Disney live action remakes: financially enormously successful, but zero lasting cultural impact.
Need to go ahead and play the DLC. Think I'll do that next after Metaphor. No doubt the sequel will be PS5/6 only. I thought GOWR went on to long but I thought HFW was just right and I got the plat.

This is the problem with milking any new IP that is a hit. Horizon needs to take a break, along with GoW, Uncharted, CoD, Ass Creed, etc.Zero Dawn was 9/10. Still one of my fav Sony game today.
Forbidden West was 4/10. Story was an enormous let down & genuinely embarrassing.
Gameplay & art direction was still top notch but they completely slaughtered the plot to an abysmal level.
