Wait there actually was a Shenmue 3, FF7 Remake and Last guardian at Sony's E3. It wasn't a dream then. Holy shit. And holy shit at the rate this has collected money.

Man, reading those project members bios is kind of depressing.

Tak Hirai said:

Kenji Miyawaki said:

What the Japanese game industry has become. :(

Shenmue 3/4/5.

Man I've never even played a Shenmue game before and this is exciting as hell to me, so happy for you guys. :)

I know plenty of people have said so already but I do hope they do HD remasters of 1 and 2 alongside this so I can get into the series too. They gotta right?

I'm shocked and surprised that people who haven't played the prior games are jumping on the Shenmue train. If you can, track down the old games and play them. They changed my life.

The ~$80 given per backer isn't even that high. This is being driven by the sheer number of them so far.

A lot of people went for the higher tiers. I've never seen people take to those so quickly before. Usually almost everyone just jumps on the lowest tier that gets you a copy of the game.

I don't typically have dreams that involve me refreshing GAF for 9 hours straight. So I think it's real life.

Err is that a comparison to that star commander whatever thingy ?

It's KickTraq. But the trend will go down a ton after the first couple of days. Their "Projections" tab is a little more accurate, but it doesn't start updating until a couple of days after the Kickstarter starts.

Kind of poor at the moment so backed $5, I've never played the originals but always thought they looked great. Will probably upgrade to a digital copy when I'm paid!

Hopefully this will help to convince some of them that other paths are available these days. Their indie community is mostly foreign at the moment but something like this could provide inspiration for more of them to jump off the kaishain bandwagon and try something different.

what's worrying is that most of the shenmue fans will be backing this KS, and getting a game as a result of it. when/if Shenmue 3 is actually released, all of the target fanbase will have already received the game as part of the KS perks and wont be able to buy this game.

i suspect this game will flop hard, maybe 100k copies at most if it reaches retail at all.

The point of Kickstarter is that it really doesn't matter what happens on the open marketplace. Producers got paid Consumers get their product. Everyone's happy Could all involved of worked on something safer? Yeah probably, but they knew the risks when they went into it.

Goddamn I've been so happy today because of this.

I need to play the originals again. Don't think I have a way of hooking up my Dreamcast to my TV though with the old input. What is Dreamcast emulation like on PC?

Fine for the most part. I haven't used it for a long time though and AFAIK it still needs a BIOS file unfortunately.

This is the one thing I was absolutely, positively convinced beyond any shadow of a doubt we'd never ever see happen.

I've also never been so happy to be wrong about something before. Awesome.

Also, kind of a bad thing to say, but - even if this ends up a complete and utter disaster of bugs and bad gameplay, I won't mind. I just want to get over that cliffhanger and get a conclusion of sorts. The mere existence of the kickstarter is already enough for me, no matter how things eventually turn out.

I'm looking forward to be amazed, though.

I'll look in to it this afternoon I think. It's good having old consoles and then you realise you have no way to use them with modern displays!

I bought a limited edition model cheap in Akihabara a few years ago. It works on modern TV's but doesn't look particularly nice sadly.

Michael Huber's reaction was legendary. The excitement, the literal tears of joy and disbelief, the emotional roller coaster...amazing.

I've watched it around 20 times now and it just isn't getting old. It'll go down in history as once of the most genuinely honest reactions from a real fan I've ever seen. Huber has my respect.
