So I want to play first games, but don't want to go through with the terrible voice acting. Is it better to just play the Japanese dub version with subtitles? I know 2 offers that for the Dreamcast, but what about the first game?

I can't understand..., it was just 2 million of a target, and yet sony didn't want to pay for it?
This looks shady to me...
So much for playstation is for the players...

Yeah, so happy this is getting done, getting that 2 million in less than 24 hrs...I just hope if they get enough that they also remaster the first two for the PS4/PC to get people prepped for the third. I'm sure there's lots of folks who haven't played these games yet and are quite curious with all the hype and support pouring in on S3 atm.

This would be ideal. However, according to the kickstarter FAQ, Sega still hold the rights to Shenmue 1 & 2.
Would love to see it happen, I hope some agreement can be made.

They need only ride the coattails of all this buzz. There's no risk at this point, really.

EDIT: $2.1 million achieved.

The fact that you think this game can be made on 2 million is funny.

Take your trolling comments else where.

Since YsNet isn't AAA, and Sega isn't funding this and Suzuki is only licensing the Shenmue property does this make Shenmue 3 an indie game?

I know there's obviously some significant effort needed to port it, but surely they must be looking at this and realising they're leaving money on the table if they don't do this.

Disgusting look how much enthusiasm their showing for a video game they should be more like the Giant Bomb guys who don't give a shit about anything because their keeping it real or something.
Sad that GB fans are saying that lol

I don't know that guy well enough to comment on his intent, but a lot of people fail to understand that Kickstarter doesn't completely pay for game development in most of these cases of Kickstarted games. These studios use it to fund a portion (sometimes a large portion) of the development, but also to raise awareness and demonstrate demand to investors.

This is a weird misconception to me. It often isn't shown just what kind of other investment other investors put into some games. Particularly here, outside of YsNet and Yu Suzuki himself, there is another sponsor listed and there has been no disclosure of the amounts involved. On top of that it is common for other deals with investors to be made that are provided should the kickstarter succeed. There is more than $2 million going into this game obviously
