Okay, you just sold a game on 2 gifs.
Start here:I need some context. Did people say the voice actor sounds "too white"?

aye, Halo 5 coop is plenty diverse, i would say.
Feels good, man.
And a little out of topic thoughts: my impression of the new Hitman is largely bad because how women are portrayed in that trailer... Bikini swim suit, runway size 0 models and basically sex object. Perfect.![]()
Ignoring the woman that gives you your contracts. Also, I think a game like Hitman has its place when you have alternatives. And a little out of topic thoughts: my impression of the new Hitman is largely bad because how women are portrayed in that trailer... Oh boy. Oh boy, oh boy.

I think this has to do in part with the advances in mocap we've seen, as well; while Vale didn't have a prior description in terms of her appearance, Tanaka looks fairly different compard to her incarnation in the comics. She's East Asian / African, and while she looks predominantly black in Escalation she looks a lot more mixed in-game. I think this has to do in part with both Vale and Tanaka looking a lot like their mocap actors, though. Probably easier to go with designs that have features closer to those of the women that are doing the animations to avoid any potential jankiness in keyframing, etc.

Well since you were listing everyone your list should perhaps be complete. So one out of like a couple dozens in the trailer?
I think Absolution tried to change that. With emphasis on tried.Diana, while a staple of the Hitman series, has never really felt like a character. She's just a narrator, really.

What about all the other "isms"? It's not just women who are underrepresented right.
Can't wait for the wave of elderly, half black half Chinese, slightly overweight body type, male pattern baldness, transgendered, disabled protagonists. All with average sized penises, because if it's not small or average it's sexist and unnatural.
Sorry, WHERE?
If that wasn't your summary of the women in the trailer, my bad.Bikini swim suit, runway size 0 models and basically sex object.
I said kinda and just compare her to the other characters in this thread. She's definitely not a conventional beauty that you could put on a model runway or whatever.
I did not mean that as a negative, I was surprised as usually a trait of female characters is being sexy, doll-like etc.

Writer from Fallout New Vegas. Quest designer from Witcher team
i noticed this as well.
Didn't the Halo 5 coop gameplay have 2/4 female characters.
Fallout can have a female protagonist.
We had multiple women presenting during the conferences.
Say what you will about the media coverage about female representation in gaming, but the publishers / developers seem to have really taken the hint.
E3 this year wasn't as much of a sausage fest as last year's, both in games as well as presenters, and that's no coincidence.
If that wasn't your summary of the women in the trailer, my bad.
Hitman promo stuff's always been like that.

Hope he's never seen the nun fight CGI trailer!
I'm actually shocked some people haven't cried about political correctness or whatever flavor of the month word that some of our more embarrassing straight, white, male gamers use when a game isn't pandering to us.
Sorry I've seen the screenshots.
Go into any Halo 5: Guardians thread and you'll see people spitting venom over anything and everything about Agent Locke save for his voice acting performance in his live-action "all hail the conquering hero" trailer. It's pretty easy to pick out which people think media he was featured in happen to suck like Halo: Nightfall, and people that just so happen to hate every fiber of Locke's being because "reasons." I even saw a "Locke's voice sounds like it should be in a car commercial, not a game" complaint. In a franchise whose three most prominent voice actors are Jeff Steitzer, Jen Taylor, and Steve Downes.
You mean parroting.
Why is it parroting in this case?
It's a good start but I'd like to see a bit more racial diversity. I hope this trend continues and we get to a point in the industry where we don't have to ask for these things and devs just include them from the start. And hopefully Latins get more love in the next batch of games cause right now I'm not seeing too many. :'(
I'm sorry but I have to come out of the closet and say that I prefer the mass market sexy ladies of yore. These women are too homely looking to keep me interested. I don't need Ivy from Soul Caliber but definitely something closer to that direction than this.
I meant from Hitman Absolution, I think there was some controversy because of that trailer.
Poe's Law?I'm sorry but I have to come out of the closet and say that I prefer the mass market sexy ladies of yore. These women are too homely looking to keep me interested. I don't need Ivy from Soul Caliber but definitely something closer to that direction than this.

Yeah its great there are more female protagonists but almost all of them are pretty white girls. Still much more room for diversity for different races and body types.
Hopefully these women were planned at the start and not because feminism.
Because that means the skeletons have won.Why is it a bad thing if feminism helps elevate women to a level of equality? That's kinda the whole point.
Yeah, can't tell either.Poe's Law?
i disagree.
more sexy bodies
i will concede more cheesecake for the ladies.
something something people of color need to take steps to get protags of color in games themselves and not wait on devs to do it, all-white straight 18-35 male dev teams write what they know, The Order: 1886 was the pinnacle of next-gen diversity and gamers should be thankful, something something
