Good god, I think you've just ruined the game for everyone. It's so incredibly Kojima to pull something like this.
 
Literally the only way the Fox Engine can fix hair is by hiding it's horrible jaggedness through downsampling from 4k to 1080p since it apparently can't do proper Anti-aliasing.

Ironically though, the Engine seems to benefit from downsampling more than most since the way it renders objects and general view distance all seems to be tied to pixel density, so it renders more detail/objects at greater distances when downsampling. Which in theory I guess means the older a Fox engine game gets, the better landscapes and so on will look to people as they downsample it from higher and higher resolutions.
 
The hair looks fine, but yeah, it's clearly not as good looking as other parts of the game. Cross-gen at work.

Re-Watched the trailer and I must say it didnt do much for me. No hype at all :(
Music was not the best, I found the voice acting a bit off, not strong (and iconic) like before.

There was something missing, cant put my finger around it. Am I the only one?

No Kojima presenting it.

I kid, I just think maybe people expected/wanted another catchy song like the last one. That and the general level of the announcements this year took some thunder away from MGS, which didn't get a press conference slot.

For the record I loved it, except it was so frakking filled to the brim with spoilers if you had any inklings/suspicions about the plotline.

music was the best thing about the trailer (that and kojima's editing to time it with the song)

hell i'm gonna go as far as saying it's the best song he's ever used in a trailer. new order da gawds.

Something just struck me, GAnimal.

It's unlikely, but the moment with Paz could be a flashback? Because she still has the stitches right?

Maybe the day before Snake arrived at Camp Omega, they put the bombs in Paz, then we see the shots of her with hair getting a medical check, then they shaved her head and put her in the pen with Chico.

Very unlikely because they probably shave the heads of most prisoners (not Chico though?) But it's the only way I could see the shot of Paz being accurate to Ground Zeroes. The shot of her in the trailer could be Paz before Snake rescues her, with all her hair. Perhaps we get to see Skullface torturing her, etc? Might explain why she has such a vacant look. The trauma.

I think I know what you mean. I still love the trailer, but it marks a very subtle change from the usual Metal Gear tone.

Frankly, the trailer has removed the expected Metal Gear Hamminess from the equation. It's a lot more realistic and measured in tone. Because of that, it doesn't quite have the energy or impact of earlier MGS trailers.

This is more like "If Christopher Nolan directed Metal Gear." It's more realistic, more naturalistic. (If you don't know who that is:
legendary film director of The Prestige, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception, Interstellar etc. The music here is even very similar to the organ orchestration in Interstellar
.) The characters are all talking in themes and concepts. The tone is quite daunting and haunting.

I personally love it. But I can totally imagine it going against expectations and possibly being disappointing in this regard.

The problem is that post-GZ Snake and Ocelot are both in the room in that scene, horn and all. If Big Boss didn't have his scars in that scene it would basically confirm the "Fight Club" theory that Big Boss and Skullface are one and the same, but he doesn't so...

Look, here's the villain progression of every Classic Series MGS:

MG: Big Boss
MG2: A cybernetic reconstruction of Big Boss
MGS: An imperfect genetic reconstruction of Big Boss
MGS2: A perfect genetic reconstruction of Big Boss
MGS4: A memetic reconstruction of the imperfect genetic reconstruction of Big Boss

Now, here's the villain progression of the Prequel Series:

MGS3: The Boss
PO: A memetic reconstruction of the Boss
PW: A digital reconstruction of the Boss

It would be uncharacteristic if some reconstruction of the Boss didn't appear in MGSV as an antagonist of some kind.

Yeah, really interesting, thanks. Maybe... Maybe they'll clone the Boss? Is that the next step? Maybe Paz is a clone of the Boss?!

And yes, I hadn't re-watched the trailer when I posted the Paz-flashback idea. You neatly refute that.

Now, i've mocked other posters for their conspiracy theories before but..

People heard Hayter's voice as BB walks down the hall in the trailer ("i changed too")

I did hear Hayter's voice at around 3:45 ("it's linguistic")

There's nothing for me to be heard at around 5 though..

For what it's worth, its possible Kojima just swapped models around for that scene. We already know he's done that, because of a Camp Omega scene that doesn't appear in GZ and because of a scene with Big Boss lifting up Quiet that clearly takes place during the helicopter crash scene, and because of differences in the "Scatter their Ashes" scene between trailers. There's a good chance most of my theories are wrong, I'm only weaving my own narrative out of the footage we've been given.

Good point, and I love that the unknown quantity of trailer model-swapping means we basically have no idea what will be in the game or what won't :P

God, I'm looking forward to this game. I watched a bit of a stream on Batman: AK last night and hopefully that, plus The Witcher 3, will tide me over until TPP drops.
