[IGN] 40 minute Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain demo 1080p60 - 6/18 at 5 AM PST

Yeah, they're pretty big:

Phantom-Pain-Map.jpg

I still don't really understand how that map works.

I still don't really understand how that map works.

I think it shows you how the Land mass of MGS V is when compressed compares to the size of all the levels of previous games.

I love you.

Not like I love my wife, but in that special way that a man loves, say, a fine Cuban Cigar.

I could watch that all day. BRB. Going to purposefully piss of rocket troops in GZ.

Did you even watch the beginning of the video? He specifically said that microtransactions are NOT pay to win -_-

Regardless of whether or not it's true, it's rather foolish to take the PR person's word for it. You really think they'd say "Yeah, you can pay to speed shit up and make it less of a chore"?

All you need to understand is that Afghanistan is a big place. ;)

How and where you make it , thats Up to you :)

You Could always choose to not buy the game. I think its a dick move but bigger dick moves have been made, COUGH* Arkham Knight DLC COUGH*

Holy shit, reading comprehension FTW. I was not talking about the ethics of microtransactions, rather the naivety of taking the word of someone who has a stake in the game's success as gospel.

And how many times do you try to bring up other franchises to try and shift discussion? No one is fucking talking about Arkham Knight, just as no one was talking about Mass Effect 3 when discussing MGS4's ending. On to the ignore list you go.

That pretty direct and flat statement wasn't necessary and could easily come back and bite them in the ass in a big way. If we weren't at least partially true, it would've been better to dodge the subject entirely, don't you think?

Love how this is Kojima's final home stretch so he's simply not giving a damn anymore and just ending the demo with Kojima Productions.

It's just a hypothetical statement. Point is, I'd advise against instantly believing the PR guy. Personally, I'm going to wait and see before getting the pitchforks out.

I honestly don't get people , if you are unhappy with the game in any way , vote with your wallet , don't buy or preorder.

I personally can't give a shit , I've been waiting for this game for too long.

It was a damn shame it was missing from the 2015 E3 Metal Gear Solid V trailer.

the whole terrain is the actual size of TPP, while the color straight lines represent the linear nature of the older games.

But is that just the size of Afghanistan? That's what confuses me. Or is that the whole game?

It doesn't really matter to me. I'm just excitedly curious.

Currently dl'ing that IGN direct link from the past page.

It's not great, but it's better than IGN's usual garbage.

Is it weird that the only thing in the whole entire demo that bothered me was how much Aliasing was on Quiet's Hair?

Its so pixelised compared to the rest of the game in those few seconds during the buddy customisation screen.

Big empty desert, Fultoning everything, I don't know I found that video a bit boring. That walking mini-Metal Gear seemed fun though and once the action started it was more entertaining. The graphics are nothing impressive either.

Just finished watching the demonstration, HOLY crap. Driving around in the desert, approaching that mansion like building that crumpled, sniping the guy on the roof, and that huge shoot out at the end was by far my favorite parts.

It looks so finalized and streamlined, I'm ecstatic! Also I'm glad there's a limit on Fultons again. It seemed cheap how you could just expend GMP and Fulton forever like the past gameplay demos.

So why did they change the controls? In Ground Zeroes, you pressed square to pick up ammo and enemies, whereas it's circle in this. Can you change that?

The modern gamer requires constant stimulation. This is why focus-group development has become so homogeneous.

Hmmm that video bitrate...deciding to watch this 2.6GB file or wait till Gamersyde footage. Wonder what bitrate footage Gamersyde is getting.

Certainly agree with that sentiment.

I think it's just Afghanistan.

I don't know what people expect from a game in which you are supposed to be sneaky . The guy is already using lethal force.

I would honestly prefer gameplay with a tranquiliser pistol and full ghosting.

Kojima sent out a tweet about releasing another gameplay demo that was more stealth oriented in the same environment - think that will make it to IGN / YouTube or did he mean the behind closed doors demos at E3?

The most exciting thing in that demo, was the moment I realized, that you can take your time. Slowly analyze every enemy. Circle the building from afar, plan what to do, make contingency plans ... and then fuck up everything because of some unforseen variable, still somehow make it and then a glorious escape where everything explodes.

I hope thats a thing in this game

Or just call in an airstrike and call it a day.

All the previous trailers have been PS4, safe to assume this one is also.
The PS4 version will run at 1080p and 60 fps, yes.

The only real benefit to running it on PC is better 'effects' and 4K if you got the money for the Horsepower -Gets rid of a lot of aliasing. Mods Maybe.

I'm getting it on both .

That's great but after both The Order 1886 and Evolve, which both looked average even back at E3 Imo, garnered tons of E3 awards it's not quite as special.

Yeah but E3 is not over yet, let's hope MGSV gets more because it definitely deserves more.

Yeah, they're pretty big:

Phantom-Pain-Map.jpg

This is pretty cool! But I enjoy my MGS games more linear... so I don't know if I care for the direction of going with large open areas this time around. But the notion of starting from base, picking a location, doing a mission, then returning to base will keep it from feeling like a true "open" world game that i normally get bored of. It will still have a linear progression structure, which I appreciate.

Holy crap that was awesome. I can see myself spending so much time with this game it isn't even funny. I really can't see another game taking GOTY over this for me.

Fucking this, man. You get this! I love love LOVE the idea of coming in from a distance, scoping out the territory, making your approach and planning the mission out in real time. The world is not completely empty. Just because the mission starts off and primarily takes place in a dune doesn't make the world completely empty. There's a lot going on with wildlife, weather, smaller scattered bases, etc. I don't know what more you want, a huge NYC block with people walking around all day? So much shit goes down in that ONE tiny little base, and that's incredible!
