if we get a remastered version don't expect it to get a polygon boostFor those asking that Shenmue comes out for the PS4.... Will the game require some work as the polygon count may be too low to look good today?
US Shenmue was the last version I got for my collection. I have no intention of playing it and have no reason to but like it because it's insanity manifest. Like, why does that even exist? Who wanted this?Breaking out my Dreamcast and Japanese versions of I and II tonight. My past self in 2001 would've never have imagined I'd be able to play this game in straight Japanese.
I almost own every version of the game except Shenmue U.S. I would like that even though it's just the American dub with Japanese subtitles LOL.

If that's a scan then you should probably delete it, scans aren't allowed on GAF
FF International games at least have extra content like optional dungeons and bosses compared to the Japanese original, though I agree that replacing the Japanese voices is odd. But US Shenmue offers nothing new other than inexplicably making this game set in Japan unintelligible to most Japanese people.Yeah, it is one of the oddest ideas for a game version but then again we have international versions of Final Fantasy games which replace the Japanese dub with English. Maybe they think hearing English is cool like we may think hearing Japanese is cool. Who knows?
For those that haven't played Shenmue I highly encourage you to get a Dreamcast to pla both games but a few of us at the Shenmue Dojo were commenting how the video under "What's Shenmue" section includes a lot of beta material many long time fans have never seen- http://shenmue.link/us-en/history.html
I think the best option here is having japanase only audio. It would be cheaper too, and with Yakuza games worked well.
Love this shot of Ryo:

Do we know where? He's not on the calendar for /r/IAmA.Just a reminder : Yu Suzuki doing a Reddit AMA today at 9:30 PST.
FAQ:Chills down my spine. That Ryo looked way better, you're absolutely right, but the devs sure know it already...don't they?
I would buy this just for the comedy value of the voice acting.
...
edit: Has this video been mentioned? http://shenmue.link/us-en/topics/#item25 there's some mildly interesting footage of the area the current screenshots and videos are from along with the interview.

Is it possible to SDF my avatar? Probably going to be hard so it's ok if no one does it. Plus it already has 'shenmue' on it.
Boom.

And if anyone wants, here's a version of the Shenmue Defense Force banner that's 100 pixels wide (not stretched, but redone):

It's developed by Neilo, they are a studio that was funded by ex AM2 employees and there are former Shenmue team members on this project, some of them are listed on the KS page.Who is actually developing the game and do we have an in-house staff number? Or an estimate?
I'd love to be optimistic but this coming out of left field, and Suzuki not heading Shenmue for a decade and a half has me a bit wary.
For many, myself included, the hammy voice acting was one of its charms; like it was sending up countless badly dubbed 70's/80's martial arts films.

Does anyone know here if I can change my billing information halfway through the Kickstarter?
I was just thinking, could it be possible for Ys Net to open its own fundraiser after the Kickstarter ends as well?
I remember Warhorse Studios' Kingdom Come Deliverance smashed its Kickstarter goal too and they went ahead and had their own fundraising initiative afterwards on their site where they've consistently received extra funding ever since.
I very much doubt what we saw were final models.I'm really annoyed how different Ryo looks, that soulless face..
They should definitely do this.
Also, A game like Star Citizen had the gimmick of selling ships, i think, as a way to rack up an immense budget, i wish Shenmue could get there, but the the style of the game just wouldn't allow it.
That's vital info for all.
@ Mr. RPG - Can you put this important info on the OP too, please?
Takeshi Hirai is the lead programmer for the Shenmue series. In 2010 founded the independent game development studio, Neilo Inc, producing Orgarythm for the Playstation Vita and the Japanese arcade version of Left 4 Dead: Survivors.

This is a video
It has some minor off screen footage and information on the battle system.
They really need to update the kickstarter with this kind of stuff. I mean, they should post that history of Shenmue stuff on their main site showing off the beta and stuff on there too. Why is it hidden away on the main site!?
